I love the way you describe everything. So on point!

Hi, Peh-peh is the way we pronounce pepper! Exact same thing, and the banku is made from corn dough with a little fermented cassava as you said and the taste can be compared to the Latino tamale. Whoever made the stew for you without salt is a terrible cook! lol. Don't worry, next time you are in Ghana, I'll cook for you and make you a believer. Thanks for your honesty though.

erm I think what mandem wanna explain is abitia ( brown fufu) as my brother call it; which made from dried cassava. The porridge doesn't consist of only pepper lol

The soups are the best - especially if they are spicy. They can keep the banku and kenkey. Smile.

It sounds all so familiar to what my friends there have described. A mortal and pestle, is a larger version of what a pharmacist uses to grind and compound ingredients. I use a small one to crush herbs.
I will be interested to try it when I ever find opportunity to go there, Kumasi and Tamale are quite different..Groundnuts sound pretty good,Stirfried with veggies, like yams. Which is what Damba's grandfather grew.

Wow. Cool video, Seth! In Guyana and other Caribbean countries we chew our fufu. Puerto Ricans and Dominicans called it mofongo and it is chewed. Banku didn't make it to the Americas, I don't think...
