I have been in business for myself for 9 years now and I stopped purchasing business cards a couple years ago. QR codes are the way to go. I was also thinking about doing a "give away" at each event, all I want them to do is take a picture in front of our sign at an event, then share and tag us on social media. This will get us out there being shared on others social media. I would then draw a winner and mail them the item. $4 in postage and the cost of the item for me is a relatively easy way to get some advertisement out there.

I use vista print for my business cards. You get sooo many for a good deal.

My business cards have my name, business name & location on one side & a QR on the other side, I've gotten quite a few followers from my QR codes but not very many messages. But, I got 500 cards printed at Staples for $25 and they were available for pick up the next day. They also throw in an extra like 20-50 cards because they have to do test prints before the "real ones" :)
