31:40 - There’s a gossip stone outside of the temple of time that tells you that the gerudos will sometimes travel to the market to look for boyfriends. So that’s probably how they make more gerudos.
Hard disagree with anyone that says Spirit Temple before Shadow, the game says you need the boots to cross the desert, and you get the boots inside the Shadow Temple. Bloinking your way over the desert doesn't count and going into the Shadow Temple, getting the Boots and leaving is also bloinking in it up. Spirit is the final temple thematically too since you use the time travel elements inside the dungeon and not just some mini dungeon well. You last see the owl at the Spirit Temple and pretty sure Navi even says Shadow before Spirit.
Although gameplay wise I agree the order of the medallions implies spirit before shadow and also the order of the ocarina songs. Maybe originally it was intended but when you play shadow before spirit feels better
Another reason I believe shadow comes before spirit, is because in the games code, you can only get the nocturne of shadow after you have the forest, fire, and water medallions. Without those 3 you can't activate the cutscene in kakariko. That gives me hard belief that the game wants you to do shadow before you do spirit. Plus I think fighting the two witches who are known to be Ganondorf's mothers just before you fight ganondorf himself is more poetic than fighting a weird tortured beast monster thing.
I was 10 years old when this came out. I beat it without a guide and I will never forget the sense of accomplishment and sadness I felt when it was finally over. It's 100 percent my favorite game.
I know EXACTLY what you mean. Except I wasn't 10.. I was more like 16... The game putting Link through the "It's time to grow up" phase is something I took personal. Especially at the age of 16.... It was one of those that made me feel like I had to let go of my childhood and start thinking about my adult life... That aside... Greatest game EVER.
@@JerryLedesma1 i was also the 10 year old, and i had the same experience as you, except with child link. And having adult link in TP when i was like what, 17? was just *chefs kiss* for my immersion
But funny enough, really helps articulate how Zelda fans look at this game. Being there and old enough to appreciate what this game did when it came out. Is really important on rating the game against others. Which I never really put my finger on, why I consider this the best one. Until now.
I realized it was a Gen Z review when the little bits like "I know, I am talking about a camera system in an old game....please I promise its important" and so on popped up a couple of times like he was trying to convince me to pay attention. I mean it is Zelda and it is OoT, I don't need to be convinced.
@@arjunsatheesh7609 Obviously that part wasnt meant for you then lmao. Its meant for the kids of his generation. Meanwhile, im sure im not the only one who was over here like "omg z target was so revolutionary". Ill be honest, this kid is articulate as fuck. He was able to contextualize the importance of that ONE design decision. He wasnt around at that time to witness shitty tank controls, and horrid cameras. The fact that he knows how revolutionary that was shows me this kid is truly passionate about zelda. Im interested in what he would have to say about Wind Waker, because that was a shit show of a reveal when i was a kid. The graphics are gorgeous in hindsight, but i like to compare wind waker to ffx. The first FF on ps2 compared to the first Zelda on gamecube. FFX was a love letter to fans of that series. It brought you into the world of FF with super immersive graphics. Wind Waker was not immersive at all, you couldnt imagine having an epic duel with ganondorf when he looks like a walking thumb. Im saying all of this in context of the time. I love wind waker, and that ganon fight is one of my favorites, but back then, no one felt like that, and i feel like gen Z doesnt realize that.
@@dogsbecute Oh! Pipe down, will you. For a moment I thought I was on X/Twitter. Where did I say that he was not articulate? I said he had my full attention and did not need to ask for it. I said that this was a review made for Gen Z by a Gen Z guy which is a wonderful thing to see. Good topic, great video. I am not mocking Gen Z either. Just noting something that interested me.
You can't imagine what it was like going from a Link to the past to Ocarina of Time? I'll tell you. I was in middle school. IT WAS ABSOLUTELY INSAAAAAANE!!!!!!!! 🤯 I can honestly say it is one of the brightest highlights of my childhood. Words can't do it justice. I feel privileged to have been born at the perfect time to witness and experience the rapid progression of video games in real time!
I was 8 when this game came out. I cannot exaggerate how amazing this game was playing it through the first time: the plot twists, the fact you changed into an adult, the shock of being tricked into fighting Phantom Ganon in the forest temple, and lastly the revelation of Sheik being Zelda figuratively blew mine and my cousins mind. I thankfully still have my OG N64 and copy of OoT. I cannot wait to play it with my kids when they’re old enough.

After almost a year of sporadically playing TOTK (first Zelda game since becoming a father!) and still not completing it, I really miss how self contained and linear this game is. And oh how I miss proper dungeons!!!
me too man i just became a father 9 months ago still havent beaten totk im on my first ever playthrough of OoT and man it really does hold up as well as people say i cant actually remember the last time i played a game so fun
Zelda: Breath of the Wild is probably my favorite game, but the legend of zelda: twilight princess is my favorite Zelda game ;) BotW and TotK are great games in their own right, but neither are an actual zelda title lmaoo even Wind Waker felt like a proper zelda title just with what everyone considered a shitty art style at the time. Breath of the Wild is a straight up 10/10 but its not the best zelda game by a long shot. TP, Wind Waker, and OoT all stand above it. I never played skyward sword, but i watched tons of vids/playthroughs of it, and im sure if i ever experienced that game, i would probably like it better than wind waker just because of the story alone. I played Twilight Princess on an emulator recently and yep, game still holds up. I was afraid that botw wouldve spoiled my fun for previous zelda titles, but nope. I ended up liking TP even more BECAUSE of BotW. Theyre 2 different games that hit 2 different vibes. Theres something magical about having a journey curated for you, just like theres something magical having the freedom to figure things out yourself. Skyward Sword was probably the last true zelda game, theres no way they can go back to that design philosophy/formula, and i dont blame them. The numbers dont lie, the people have spoken, the fact that TotK is just as big as BotW in the cultural zeitgeist pretty much put the nail in the coffin for us 90's kids (im assuming here, but i dont think a 25 or so year old would have nostalgia for the simple days of OoT lol)
@@dogsbecute It’s totally possible to have a game like BotW and TotK with dungeons and progression and make it appealing. With such a huge part of the long term fan base crying out for it, I don’t understand why they wouldn’t. I don’t need 152 very similar shrines, I want 5-10 well thought out dungeons!
I miss dungeons too. I don't know where the idea that linearity isn't as good as open worlds came from. OoT was art and an experience, like a lot of older games, but the new games(which I love, also) are just great games to play, not necessarily experiences in the same way. They are fun, but there is no real sense of overcoming anything after the first few hours because you already have the skills and tools to do everything the game will require of you. I need that progression.
Dude I wish I had half your tenacity. Such an ambitious project again and the quality bar never dropped even when the quantity was daunting! Did not feel like 90 minutes at all, this was such a heartwarming love letter to a classic. Absolutely adore how you marry your voiceover gags with fresh on screen stuff(you making out with spirit temple is literally peak TH-cam). You have a real knack for being able to get real meticulous and keep it interesting, every videoessayist is jealous! I think a huge strength of yours that goes under the radar is your narration. It’s damn hard to recite events in a compelling way but you do so in a manner that sucks the viewer in for story time around the campfire. Xander you are absolutely the goat forever and always. Thank you for being the kindest and most supportive friend. Literally means the world to me!!!! Can't wait to HSM with you soon
27:26 This is incorrect. The hookshot which is collected from Kakariko village unlocks the first 3 Temples. The Bow is needed to complete the Water Temple, not to unlock it, & it isn't needed to complete the Fire Temple. The easiest way to determine which Temple comes next is to listen to what Navi says after each medallion is received.
Unfortunately I’ll never be able to ask my brother how he beat the water temple and the whole game with no internet or TH-cam back in 1999. I still see his name File right next to mine when I play his N64 on this CRT 📺 I bought at thrift store. RIP Phil ❤ 1989 - 2016 (He also beat Majora’s Mask without internet too) kids were built differently in the 90s
Somehow I beat it when I was in the first grade without internet or a guidebook but Majora’s mask I got stuck at the great bay temple so I needed a guidebook lol. Your brother must have been really smart to have beaten majora without a guide, sorry for your loss.
Man fr in 98-2003 this game WAS Huge and the graphics WERE awesome. This game really was bombastic af for the time and blew my 5 year old mind when it came out. This game really is one of the best games of all time. Im glad to see someone who is younger give this game some love.
Ocarina of Time is a very important game. It took everything from Link To The Past and put it in 3D. Sure the game is pretty vanilla nowadays, but without this game, we wouldn’t have gotten Twilight Princess.(The GOAT) Plus, there’s the Ship of Harnikin PC port that enhances the game and makes it more open, and the 3DS version which fixes up the Water Temple, no boring and slow text scrolling, better item placement, and (in my opinion) better graphics that are faithful to the artwork of the original game.(sorry for this long comment)
I have to say, I'm about to turn 30 myself, and ever since I was around 4 or 5, this was the game that sparked my love for what video games could be. This is my favourite game ever made, and it was honestly really cool and heartwarming seeing someone significantly younger than myself in this day and age, have such a genuine love and appreciation for a game that is so incredibly dear to me! First video I've seen of yours, and it was such an incredibly well well crafted video and analyses of OoT that I'm subbing and definitely checking out your other videos! PS. Only thing that stuck out to me as a little incorrect was the "Boss Music". If you're unaware, there's actually 2 "Boss Themes"; the original that you hear during your first Boss fight against Gohma and MOST of the bosses. The second is a different song that plays as the Boss Theme to the Fire Dungeons King Dodongo and Volvagia fights!
So happy you mentioned how underrated the Spirit Temple music is! When I was a kid, I often turned on the game and went straight to the temple just to listen to the music - especially the incredible way it starts! Loved your video 🙌
The "Why you just don´t eat the boulder?" line from terminalmontage´s video on OoT always pops in my head everytime I see someone talking about Dodongo´s Cavern lmfao
I'm a 90's kid. My first zelda game was a link to the past, I played it at my cousin house but ocarina of time was the first game that made me love video game. It truly felt like a revolution at the time, younger me understood that I was playing something special. By today standards I don't think you can call OOT the best game ever made but at the time of its release I believe you could have made a good argument to back up that statement. Anyway it's still a fun game to play to this day
Same. This game came out when I was 12. I originally played link to the past and loved it. But when Ocarina of time came out it was such a magical experience. Nothing else have even come close to what that was like back in the mid 90s.
But what is the best game ever right now ? I do agree things change and get better but so far, for what it did, how it did it and the ratings which haven’t been topped in 20 years. It has masterpiece written all over it. For that reason I still believe it’s the best game ever made till this day
It's an amazing game. I went to replay it recently but I could not play on the 64. It was so pixelated i could hardly read the text. I fired up an emulator and played it. Upscaled, fit to 16:9 and smoothed polygons with adaptive shading made the game look INCREDIBLE. 1996 was the late 90s?
This is the first time I've seen someone discussing the order of the Shadow and Spirit Temple. I always thought it was obvious that Spirit is last, even given its area. You have access to the desert much later than everything else, and even its narrative with the boss being the witches and the mechanics of the child/adult link to solve the puzzles, wraps everything up perfectly before the final battle.
0:36 haha amazing 😍 your Twilight Princess video is my favourite video here on TH-cam and you giving TP some love here in this video makes me really happy 😃
Incredible job. This retrospective truly honored the game and I love when people take the time to not just retell the story but what made the game innovative in comparison to what was going on in the video game history world of time.
I really like the tone of this channel - I’ll call it ‘cheeky non-sequitur refreshing and informative joy’. Also meticulously made - managing to spike the viewers attention not just every handful of seconds, but every few seconds, with some editing flourish, meme, script twist - there’s an art to that.
There have been sooo many video essays on this game.. n this is my favorite. Loved every word. This games still special to me as an OG kid who got it xmas 1997 n screamed ❤
I was born 1986 so I was fortunate to have been 12 when it was released. I can remember when entering the deku tree for the first time. Something about playing on an old crt tv in the 4.:3 format made you fully zone in and be immersed in its world. No phones or internet for walkthroughs or what people thought about the game or spoilers. Going into school the next day to share the adventures and tips. It got absolutely everything perfect.
That first exist from Link’s hut, with how the camera pans around to truly reveal the 3D space for the first time in the game (and way way better looking than Mario 64) was just SO epic to experience for the first time. Watch it again - they were really trying to make a statement in that moment.
Oh man you never disappoint. thank you so much for this Video! OOT was my childhood (im 37 years old) and I hold it dear to my heart. And I really really like your humor and style of your videos I'm so happy watching this. Its 6 am in the morning on a monday and this video made my day . Thank yooou ! Love from Germany ❤️❤️❤️
I remember when OoT came out and we got it for our N64. My dad tried to play it, got through the Deku Tree dungeon and then at Gohma, he quit. Because he didn't understand (somehow) to use the camera to look around for it. My mom always got headaches from the 3D space so she never played it. They never could make the jump to the 3D aspect of games. Then one day i picked up where my dad left off, doing what I always do and press every button until I solved what the game wanted me to do (use the camera to find Gohma) and from there, I was hooked. When I was real little, ALttP was my introduction to Zelda, but OoT was special for me because it was my adventure. I would watch my parents play ALttP, but never really played it til years later, after OoT. For me, OoT is what hooked me in as a Zelda fan. But I'm like you, I played Twilight Princess a bit more than repeat plays of OoT and also did fun glitch runs on TP, so TP at times edges out in some regards. xD As for Zelda = Sheik reveal, honestly, I was like, "Oh, this is like Mulan, cool". And that was it. Not a lot going on in my kid brain.
Same. As a kid who mostly just had a Gameboy and played links awakening, and having to go a few hours away to play my cousin's SNES, when I got my N64 I was thrilled. I must have played that game over and over so many times. Blew my friggin' mind doesn't even cover the feeling.
also something that i realized when i beat ocarina of time a few months ago, ocarina of time is the only game where ive genuinely cried at the ending, i dont know if its nostalgia or just how good it is, but it hit me so hard recently that when i heard the bells from the master sword scene and saw the final scene with link and zelda i just cried, it hit so hard
replayed this game for the first time in over 10 years a few months ago ... fully expected it to not hold up at all. damn, I was blown away. it was just as magical as I remembered as a kid (if not more). one of the few times my nostalgia actually lived up to expectations.
1:15:57 So the Hyrule Field theme is actually context sensitive. When you're fighting enemies that scary middle part will play and if you're just standing around the calmer parts of the song will play.
The title screen just sends so many memories and melancholic vibes. The game putting Link through the "It's time to grow up" phase is something I took personal. Especially at the age of 16.... It was one of those that made me feel like I had to let go of my childhood and start thinking about my adult life... There was a big sense of sadness/peace/conclusion and many more feelings at the end of the game. I've replayed it a few times and I will continue to replay it as I continue to grow older in my adult life and until I die. That aside... Greatest game EVER.
I was there when it released and while i was only 8 it's still the best game of all time and it changed my life.. also FYI i've yet to play a fishing sim as good as ocarina.. you're wrong it's insane
I always got the impression that the Shadow Temple was supposed to be first. The narrative with the bottom of the well presents itself as soon as you complete the water temple and it always made a little more sense to me that the last temple in the game (before ganons castle) would feature the gerudos, the race of the main antagonist. It feels like its the last piece of the puzzle learning about Ganondorf's origins before you take him on
Beatiful video bro, i'm from 89 but just could finish the game when was 17, didn't have the console as a child and just could play when i grown up, tried to play in the videogame of friends but is a big game and got stucked hard to finish, when i finished the first time it was amazing, fatastic game, your love for it is great to see, keep playing and keep doing awesome videos
My first time playing Zelda was with my brothers copy of Links Awakening. Then my Dad got me a Gamecube that came with the Zelda Collection, when scrolling through the games, I thought the Mask on Majoras Mask looked cool and played that one first, figured out it was a sequel when I went over to OoT and the game was less impressive and the only transformation was from Kid to Adult. OoT is definitely a big game when it comes to what it inspired in games from then on, but MM and LttP are def better games. Great video man.

You're right! I'm 40 and the transition betwen 2d and 3d in those years was mind blowing with games like sm64 and Oot. It was realy above the rest. I've never been so excited to get my hands on this game. Exept for Botw, maybe.
I used the Prima complete guide but I didnt have the Sheik is Zelda thing ruined for me. It made my jaw drop amd i couldnt stop smiling. Makes me happy to see younger kids playing these games and doing movies on TH-cam and showing appreciation for the work that went into them. I was 11 win this game came out and it is still my favorite Zelda
You're absolutely right. I was 12 when Ocarina of time came out and played a ton of Super Nintendo. When the n64 came out and I played Mario 64 it felt like magic. It was absolutely mind blowing. Kids today really have no idea. There haven't been really any massive changes between next gen consoles since then. Link To The Past was my favorite Super Nintendo game so I remember how excited I was for Ocarina. Back then we didn't have TH-cam to look up trailers. I remember seeing the 1st screen shots in a Nintendo Power magazine and was just awestruck. Then when it finally came out it truly did feel like a masterpiece. I have a ton of great childhood memories from that time involving the n64. So many amazing games. I'm now 38 and honestly I don't enjoy gaming nearly as much. I'm sure some of that is because I'm just older and I MYSELF has changed but I think the games have changed 2. The latest Zelda games now like BOTW & TOTK I really enjoyed but honestly there was just too much going on with them. Too much time in the menu (attaching an item to an arrow) and a lot of other complaints. I long for the simpler games back when I was a kid. The Super Nintendo-Gamecube era. That's why I love watching videos like this. It takes me back to that time in my life where there was little to worry about and we were experiencing the golden age of video games.
@@Snugboy You're welcome. Your work is amazing. Yes it was a great time to be alive. The world is incredibly different now. There is a documentary on Netflix about Blockbuster. It was beautiful and I got tears in my eyes. As amazing as streaming is there's something missing. I remember being a kid and a young adult walking around a Blockbuster or some other video rental place and deciding what to get plus snacks they sold. The excitement and wonder is not at all just scrolling through Netflix or another streaming platform. There was no trailers back then you could easily look up. You just had to judge by the box or word of mouth. So there was a sense of wonder that is missing now. I feel old talking about this stuff but it's true. Very different world now. Just like Blockbuster vs Netflix and how movie watching has changed so has video games. The games coming out today are awesome but there's something missing.
Yes, do a video on TotK. I liked it BUT, it cannot repeat the same magic and wonder as BotW. It really needed to do way more to feel like a proper sequel to BotW. For the length of time it was in development, I really expected more.
Damn, as a 90’s kid who still remembers his older brother telling him we got the game when getting picked up from summer camp, I can confirm the plot twist of shiek being Zelda as unparalleled and next level. The reality? I never got past the water temple and just played my brother’s file after he beat it. Only to finally play the game all the way through yeeeears later. Great video, literally going to replay it after watching. Been a few years so it’ll be nice and fresh.
I was 10 at the time. I still remember feeling the anxiety waiting for the game to come out, reading all nintendo magazines and drawing Link all the time. We dont have that anymore, really. Feeling old now thanks.
A few notes: 1.) I believe that you can tell where the water will get raised to in the Water Temple based on Link's vertical position when he plays the song. So if he's at the marker that's high up, the water gets raised high up. At least that's how I remember it. 2.) There's a line in the game that says that the Gerudo sneak away to find boyfriends in Castle Town and that's how they get pregnant. By relying on Hylian men. Definitely a fascinating culture lol. 3.) I'd love to hear your thoughts on TOTK! Please make a video! :D Anyways, this video was great. I really enjoyed listening to this at work today :)
I wish Nintendo would get a small team to make a Zelda game with this exact same style again. I mean literally same graphics as OOT and MM with the same Link.
I agree with the always keeping the Ocarina slotted, all my game, as soon as I got the fairy ocarina from Saria, down-c slot and then considering the slingshot/bow was always left-c, I basically had to just go on with the game with right-c as the "majority boomerang/hookshot but also the only slot I am willing to give to the context of the puzzle item button".
Sheiks theme also has Zelda’s lullaby hidden inside of it, if you listen closely to the last part of it, it plays the notes quickly before going back to the first part. It mirrors how Sheik always comes and leaves quickly before her true identity could be revealed
i was a wee lad, enjoyed oot when i was like 9, the biggest things were the graphics, atmosphere, immersion and above all else, the Z-Button being the lock on, or as miyamoto put it, "The Attention Button". The z button locking the camera behind link made it so much easier to explore. Most other 3d games at the time had wonky cameras. Hell, go look at kingdom hearts on the original ps2. I remember that camera being HORRID. Sony dedicated an entire joystick to controlling the camera. That was probably the most important innovation OoT brought to the gaming landscape, and probably why it sits at the top. Its one of those things that you dont realize how much it adds until its gone. These days we dont need it, devs have nearly mastered camera control/placement in 3d action games.Back then tho? Z_Button was absolute chefs kiss.
what makes this game even more amazing is that the few complaints you had were either improved or fixed in OOT 3D on the 3DS. That game to me is the definitive version of OOT.
There’s so much I could say about OoT. The music is my favorite of the franchise. I have so many great memories of my younger brother and I renting it back in ‘98 over Christmas Break, and we couldn’t figure out how to get into Dodongo’s Cavern (give me a break, I was 10, and he was 7). This moment birthed our tradition of playing Zelda with nothing but Christmas lights on during the Holiday Season. The story was fun as a kid, and is really meaningful now as an adult that is nearing my late 30’s with a child of my own that is almost 10. It’s my favorite of the franchise (TP is an extremely close second). Also, I would have sworn the copy we rented as kids had Link make a “Tee-tee” noise after he yawned and stretched if you’ve been idle for a bit. I’ve never heard any other time than that though, in any other copies so it probably isn’t real. Also, I’d love to hear your thoughts on Tears of the Kingdom. I liked your video on BotW.
Hey man it sure has been a while! I'm glad to see you're doing well, and WOW if your editing is gettin better and better! You're going to go far trust me! :D

Ocarina of Time is a work of art. Classic game. Btw, no one at Nintendo ever stated that Sheik is a man. Sheik is just Zelda in a costume. Hell, even the 3DS Remake of Ocarina gave Sheik a more obviously feminine figure because everyone on knows the twist by now.
17:53 If you want to feel even cooler, you can perform a quicker speedrunning trick and that is to backward jump over it! This video essay makes me wanna boot up my N64 and snort the game again, and then go through Master Quest on the Gamecube. Thx for this man!
Most people do the spirit temple last. If you go to every TH-camr’s analyses of this game Spirit Temple is last. Pretty much every let’s plays do it last. I’m not saying you’re wrong per se. But the common consensus on how most people do the order is pretty clear.
The flow of time is certainly cruel, and no doubt different speeds for each person. I appreciated Sheik's speeches as a child and my appreciation only grows along with my wisdom. EDIT: Time is cruel for those who gain wisdom early in life, as it can be hard to trust a child.

@@JerryLedesma1 i was also the 10 year old, and i had the same experience as you, except with child link. And having adult link in TP when i was like what, 17? was just *chefs kiss* for my immersion
Watching Gen Z review a game from my childhood is both perplexing and hilarious and odd in so many ways.
As a 38 y/o, it's like when we talk about The Beatles
You can't imagine what it was like going from a Link to the past to Ocarina of Time? I'll tell you. I was in middle school. IT WAS ABSOLUTELY INSAAAAAANE!!!!!!!!
🤯
I can honestly say it is one of the brightest highlights of my childhood. Words can't do it justice. I feel privileged to have been born at the perfect time to witness and experience the rapid progression of video games in real time!
It's so weird to think that OOT is a quarter century old. When this game released, we still had plenty of people around who were alive during WW1
The Bottle being used as a tennis racket is actually a reference to the Bug Catching Net doing the same thing in A Link to the Past.
I didn't know about the Bug Catching net until I started playing alttp randomizer.
Who knows, there's no quotes saying it was
@@DonutSwordsman Tool used for catching bugs. + Item that doesn't seem like it should deflect dark magic but does anyway.
Hmm... What's 1+1 again? I should ask a teacher for a quote.
@@ElliotKeatonhe’s right though, we don’t know what they were thinking so we don’t know if it was intended to be a reference or not, you’re just assuming
@@sphinxiguess if it looks like a duck, quacks like a duck, then it must be a cat, am i right? Its a fair assumption to make. The word "Assumption" may have a social stigma attached to it, but, thats because most people like to make one without logic behind it. In this case, theres logic behind the assumption, and its more likely to be a reference than them making the same mistake on 2 different generations of consoles with 2 completely different code bases having the same "bug" surface. Think a little before you try to shit on someone.
I revere you as a creator even more with every upload, hope you can give yourself a break! ❤️🔥

This is incorrect.
RIP Phil ❤
1989 - 2016
(He also beat Majora’s Mask without internet too) kids were built differently in the 90s
Please do the TOTK video!! More Zelda content from you is always cozy
Same here!!!
@@Hyperbolic_G 🤩🤩
The "Why you just don´t eat the boulder?" line from terminalmontage´s video on OoT always pops in my head everytime I see someone talking about Dodongo´s Cavern lmfao
They eat fossilized dodongos. Dodongos cavern is the internals of an ancient fossilized dodongos many times the size of king dodongo.
@@dustybees6308 YES AND ITS SO COOL

It’s so hidden im kinda surprised you even knew about it??
Just started watching the video, but im gonna bet in advance:
Twilight Princess will be mentioned at least 10 times in this Ocarina of Time video.
lmao bro ok you caught me ok
THIS WAS SO CUTE AND I UPVOTE U MAKING A TOTK VIDEO
YOURE THE BEST THANKS FOR BEING SO NICE AS ALWAYS
I did not expect to learn something about my phone spacebar in a video about a game that came out before smartphones
Anyway it's still a fun game to play to this day
that is so cool!! thank you for sharing!!
For that reason I still believe it’s the best game ever made till this day
I unironically didnt know about the spacebar text thing, thanks i guess xD
Snugboy this video proves why you are truly the biggest youtube channel in Australia
When Snugboy makes a Zelda video, my day gets 10x better.
Replaying it currently again for like the 20th time, and its better than ever 👌
Don't want to blow your mind but you can do the Fire Temple before the Forest Temple btw
But I'm like you, I played Twilight Princess a bit more than repeat plays of OoT and also did fun glitch runs on TP, so TP at times edges out in some regards. xD
As for Zelda = Sheik reveal, honestly, I was like, "Oh, this is like Mulan, cool". And that was it. Not a lot going on in my kid brain.
2:27 I can imagine what I was like, I was there. Zelda64 blew my mind when I first saw it as a kid.
Lol right? I remember sneaking in hours and hours of Zelda 1 when I would stay over with my friend. And then I got my n64... just magical 😂
Same. As a kid who mostly just had a Gameboy and played links awakening, and having to go a few hours away to play my cousin's SNES, when I got my N64 I was thrilled. I must have played that game over and over so many times. Blew my friggin' mind doesn't even cover the feeling.
I still have it and replayed it during the pandemic. I also listen to Zelda music during work
Eating food and a Snugboy video?! this is so peak
also something that i realized when i beat ocarina of time a few months ago, ocarina of time is the only game where ive genuinely cried at the ending, i dont know if its nostalgia or just how good it is, but it hit me so hard recently that when i heard the bells from the master sword scene and saw the final scene with link and zelda i just cried, it hit so hard
Always did shadow then spirit. Never even thought of doing it in the other order even though we realized we could
replayed this game for the first time in over 10 years a few months ago ... fully expected it to not hold up at all. damn, I was blown away. it was just as magical as I remembered as a kid (if not more). one of the few times my nostalgia actually lived up to expectations.
I can’t believe it took that one Fire Temple Goron (and a little Goronitarian spirit) just to learn the spacebar trick…
LMAO
I feel so lucky to be one of the kids that played this game when it was launched
This is so well done! Absolutely amazing. Thank you for all the effort and time you put into this!
Would love to watch that Tears of the Kingdom video ;). Thanks for this one though, great analysis!

Perfect thing to watch while procrastinating about finals!! thanks Snug!!
Thank you for sharing!! I am so jealous like I wish I could have been there for that jump.
As an ancient fucking relic in their 30s the jump to 3D was mind boggling. I had a difficult time adjusting. It made me motion sick even.
THE OCARINA VIDEO IS HERE LES GOOOOOOO
IT IS AND ENJOY
......And this is how I learned that I could hold down the space bar on my phone.
A few notes:
1.) I believe that you can tell where the water will get raised to in the Water Temple based on Link's vertical position when he plays the song.
Anyways, this video was great. I really enjoyed listening to this at work today :)
Yeah, one of the gossip stones mention point number 2
I wish Nintendo would get a small team to make a Zelda game with this exact same style again. I mean literally same graphics as OOT and MM with the same Link.
Wow a Chris Crocker joke. Its a old meme but it checks out.
Honestly I love all the good and the bad about ocarina of time. jabu jabu's belly and the water temple are still super fun to replay through.
Good to see this game still resonates with those born after its release. I would certainly watch your take on TotK.
i was a wee lad, enjoyed oot when i was like 9, the biggest things were the graphics, atmosphere, immersion and above all else, the Z-Button being the lock on, or as miyamoto put it, "The Attention Button". Z_Button was absolute chefs kiss.
please good sir talk about this game as much as you like i am So happy to listen
This game taught me how to read. Am grateful to have had the opportunity to play. What a gem

I was there 3000 ye...I mean 25 years ago, I was 10 when the game came out. It was something I've never seen before, a revolution.
That's a sweet looking ice blue N64!
what makes this game even more amazing is that the few complaints you had were either improved or fixed in OOT 3D on the 3DS.
Wow, great video bro, really cool man, I loved to hear about your opinion, really well made bro GG
Hey man it sure has been a while! I'm glad to see you're doing well, and WOW if your editing is gettin better and better!
OOT might not be my favorite zelda game (i dont think anything will ever top TP) but it's still a fantastic game and it's always a joy to see that you're doing justice to it by making these fantastic video analysis. You're going to go far trust me! :D
thanks for highlight Hyrul field theme. this ost really have the essence of adventure
Yeessss give us your TOTK hot takes. I want that spice!!
im 30 now and played this game when i was 5 for the first time
majoras mask is still my favourite, remember me and my dad being in snowhead temple together at like 7-8
I got the genuine Sheik reveal - tbh I called it pretty early in the story but it's always nice to be right
Ocarina of Time is a work of art. Classic game.
Btw, no one at Nintendo ever stated that Sheik is a man. Sheik is just Zelda in a costume. Hell, even the 3DS Remake of Ocarina gave Sheik a more obviously feminine figure because everyone on knows the twist by now.
