I just ordered mine using your code (Aussies supporting Aussies) to my home in California. Unless you’re from Sydney, might have to return it then! Great review, especially the (chic) magnet part.
@ It did! And I got the Evo as well. I'm enjoying them both quite a bit. I thought I would struggle with OTB since I've played almost exclusively online for the past 10 years, but I've taken to it really well. OTB... digital... I just love the game.
Thank you for a nice review. I’m really excited about this board as well. I especially like that it is lightweight and therefore really easy to travel with.
YEA WHIGGI! Loved the review buddy. This looks intriguing. The outdoor issue was a little disappointing but in general i'd say this a great set to carry around on the off chance that you'll meet someone with the same love of the game. And I love how you chose one of the most difficult mates as a "simple" endgame for your example. Well done, my friend. And good job resisting the temptress. We have got to stay focused brothers! Great video, buddy! Keep sending them my way!
Thanks mate! It is a good set to travel around for sure. I wouldn't be too keen on taking it to the beach, and was hesitant to put it on the same as there was alot of sand...though I don't think it would have been an issue, it was pretty well sealed up. I could definitely see myself using it at a Cafe though!
Hi, sorry for the late reply. I personally have not noticed any peeling or issues with the edges, and havent had any one mention any issues of it happening :)
Thanks for the review. I would love to see you review the Chessnut Evo-- if you think it would help, I'm happy to send an email to Chessnut suggesting they send you one. (I mean, I'm nobody, I'm not claiming to have any influence over them, but if they're sending you this board, maybe a few fans asking for your review of the Evo would make a difference.)

Hi Whiggi, Dennis from the UK, surely the idea of a travelling chess set is sometimes to play outside in the sun !!! like sitting outside of my motorhome and playing a game of chess ! if I cant see the from and to LEDs its unusable ! and a lot of campsites and places have no internet connection ! a built in A.I. at different levels would be a good idea . If they had the features of the DGT centaur , rings on every square that light up and flash and you can adjust the brightness and built in A.I. when no internet is available ,plus the features the GO already has ,that would be the perfect travelling chess set , I wish a company would get everything right ,they would make a fortune !!!
Hi Dennis, agreed it would be nice to get some sun :) The alternative is that you could have the phone display the opponents move, not ideal but gets the job done. Don't get me wrong though, I understand the appeal to playing outdoors, I hope a solution can be found. Main reason why I included this in the review is for transparency. Understanding some people might want this set for certain purposes, they need to know they are getting what they are after :) As for the A.I, the board uses the Chessnut App (and can be used with some other apps) which includes multiple levels of difficulty. I just checked the App but was unable to connect. When I get home from work ill check another 3rd party app that I really like and see if that works offline.
@@whiggi Hi Whiggi , thank you for your reply, let me know how you get on with the other apps please. Thanks for this review. Thanks for being honest about the outdoor play. If I grab it to add to my e-board collection it needs to be significantly under $180US. Where did you hear the price? Several people have asked and they get the answer that it has not been decided yet (that coming directly from Chessnut themselves).

Great review and the board looks awesome. But there is one BIG concern regarding the board - not being able to see the lights both in direct sun or on a couldy day is a big red flag for me, and would make the board useless for me. 5 min ago I tried to play on my balcony with the Chessnut air, and had to stare at my phone the whole time which totally ruined the experience. Wish they would fix these lights in future updates on the Go board, maybe adjustable how bright the lights can be, so the board could be used as intended.
glad you liked the review :) in regards to resolving the light issue..i hope so. im not sure about the airs visability. but the Go with the green lights I could see it... though, no where nesr as easy as indoors :(
@@whiggi I couldn't see anything on the air board regarding the lights 🤷🏻♂ Was thinking about purchasing the Go version IF the lights was VERY clear outside in all type of weather. Until they make something like that, I'll just keep playing inside on my Pro board.
Chessnut can play tournaments and puzzles on Lichess? And probably also puzzles? Is it also possible two lichess player play on it? Means physical in the same room at the same board?
I believe they can play tournaments.. I am not a Lichess user when it comes to connecting e-boards. Puzzles I have done on Chess.com without any issues. So I believe they should work on Lichess and can test it out later. As for two players playing on the board physically.. They can play OTB without an issue, and the board can record a PGN for later review.. However, if you mean two accounts also playing at the same time sharing the one board so that you have a record of the game on Lichess, im not sure thats a thing.
you can change the settings (the delay) so you could have the delay almost instant, so when it lands on the square it locks it in, or you can add a small delay, so when you slide it past a square it wont lock in that move. once it gets to the final square and is on it for the delay time then it will lock in :)
I suggested to Chessnut that they seal the edges, my board's layer on top feels like it's protruding on the top edge. The build quality could be slightly better, but that may raise the price maybe. It's still a great board nevertheless.
