      I'll tell you 5 facts that the bible knew about in science that we found out recently. It knew about the importance of blood in leviticus 17 11, cleaning in leviticus 15 13-15, understanding of germs in numbers 19 11-12, Earth hung on nothing in Job 26 7 quarentine in leviticus 13 46
      It predicted in Isaiah that the messiah would: die crucified. Be betrayed for 30 pieces of silver. Be born in Bethlehem. Be buried with the rich. Be rejected by his own people. All these prophecies about who the messiah would be and more, fit Jesus.
      The bible also predicted that in the end of times, people would become extremely lustfull and that the nuclear family would not be the main thing anymore and that there would be an explosion of homossexuality, something unimaginable to see happening in the whole world back then, it is in Luke 17 28-30 Jesus saying it would be like in the days of Lot, like soddom and gommorah, extremely perverted cities where people banged everyone, there were orgies, basically no sex restrictions and they even wanted to rape angels... is that familiar to the world today? Because this "non restricted sex" thing is only getting stronger. It predicted that there woud be a time wich if two people revived (specific people, revelation 11) people from many different places would be able to see. How!? It didn't happen yet, but the bible knew that there was gonna be a time wich people would be able to see things happening anywhere from anywhere. It predicted that the euphrates river would dry up, and is drying up (if you look into revelation 16 you will see that it is the 6th vial, with the mark 666 being the first vial, and it didn't happen, but revelation is not a book to be read chronologically. Is a book that tells events in an order, making it clear it is not the chronological order) it predicted that there would be rumors of wars and wars, and that natural disasters would be much more common (matthew 24 6 and 7) and now we see a political division and hatred like never before, and if you just google "rise in natural disasters" you will see is not a small rise. You can argue that some of these things have always been arround, like the wars and disasters thing, but so many of them happening in less than a decade just like the bible predicted? Not to mention the prophecies about the messiah perfectly narrowing to Jesus long before he was born (and there are archeological evidences showing that the old testament was indeed written hundreds of years before Jesus was born) and the scientific facts that the bible already knew, and there are quite a few. This book just should never be taken for granted.

      @asrgaqgq sdfgsdgsdfgsdg It's not a joke; Alex is correct. I was an atheist my whole life, and in university I decided I would look into every religion and every philosophical system to find the ultimate truth. I found that in philosophy it was impossible to contrive any existentialist ethic without committing the naturalist fallacy, and every philosophical system is profoundly unlivable. Later I realized it was unlivable because to live as a human without God is to live in cognitive dissonance: though you do not believe your life has purpose, you act as if it does.
      I went on searching with a proud and disdainful heart toward Christian doctrine: after I realized that Jesus did in fact exist and that the NT is reliable, I tried to twist the words of Jesus to make him into a new age guru, but that is not who he was, he was a Jew and claimed to be meshiach. Then I read Isaiah 53 and my heart began to soften. Could this be true? I wanted anything to be true other than Christianity. but it was only when I finally emptied myself of a prideful heart that God spoke to me and I became aware of my brokenness and my sin. When I repented in tears I was given the holy spirit and set free forever.

      First of all, atheists score higher on average on tests of biblical knowledge, so you are more likely to get good information from an atheist.
      Secondly, I was a believer from 1989-2007, and even briefly served as a pastor and teacher in the church, so I got my understanding of the Bible from reading it both as a Christian and an atheist, and from Christian pastors and teachers. I have found that my understanding of the scriptures is better now than it was a believer, because I no longer look at it with Jesus-goggles on, which have a tendency to blind one to the errors, contradictions, failed prophecies, and fake histories in the Bible, as well as the immorality of the laws in the Bible, and the immorality of the god of the Bible.

    Just referencing her "good person" statement. I don't think most of us are OR at one point weren't good; I think some strive towards being good. This alone once you realize it makes the idea of Jesus' sacrificing himself to take on our "not good person-ness" or sin makes it all make more sense to me. I think in the physical world until we're all very honest about our short comings we'll keep cultivating corruption on some scale. And the fact that there was a guide book referencing that we are corrupting/corruptable and someone tried to help us ahead of time is genius and clearly something more. It's pretty amazing.

    This is a weird thing to see for me. Probably because to me the natural explaination of where morality comes from is much more logical and fits reality much better then the religious one...
    And just like her i've been searching (for quite a long time now) for justification for the belief in a higher power, and searching for good arguments against my own position that it is unlikely a god exists. But after 20 years if anything my atheïsm has grown stronger.
    I still like to challenge my own views and beliefs and I still try to evaluate arguments against my position with as much of a neutral and unbiased stance as I can muster. But in all honesty I think the chance of me changing my position from atheïst to theïst is very very small by now...

      That’s called critical thinking based on evidence provided from both sides. I’m 36 and at one times tried to justify a god, but I find the science of now is just to too contradicting of the bible.

    • @hibye-by3yb
      @hibye-by3yb 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Podcastforthewin ok, but let me try and spark some critical thought, forgive me if you've thought about it this way before. Indoctrination is a strong word, but you can apply it to every aspect of your life. It might sound radical, but schools indoctrinate you by affirming that science and knowledge by man is the be all and end all of knowledge. You might argue otherwise, but indoctrination is subtle much like culture. If you're a firm believer in science than I'm sure you'd agree that identity is socially constructed (social identity theory, ecological systems theory, are just a few); so your epistemology, ontology, and cosmology (the way of knowing things, the nature of self (being), and the nature of the universe) are all directed by your environment. In this way culture plays a big part in what you know and how you think, and people who are part of a majority culture do not realise they're a part of one. Think of it this way, its hard to define your own culture, but its super easy to point out others right? So you're constantly being indoctrinated, and I assume you're from a western background which loves the scientific method so you have been influenced by the belief that science is the best form of knowledge that you have access to. So there's a high possibility that you already have a bias against the bible as the many and conflicting theories about the universe from science try to disprove it. You should make up your own mind, but you only have one life, under your belief, so if something claims that there is a God, and that it contains the secrets about what happens after you die; it might be worthwhile to look into it and read it for yourself (its a big book and its daunting so reading John, and Corinthians may convince you). In the end if you call out to God and seek truth with earnestness, you'll be surprised how far it'll get you.

Asked a question while I was at church and everything around me was quiet silent then God allowed me to hear what was being said and it was a parable. I had to figure out what it was. I didn't quite understand what it meant at first. I dug deep in the bible and found it. The world I followed I followed no longer. What I was missing was discipleship into Jesus Christ. Christianity is the infant of being born again. Discipleship is the next level where the Angel's rejoice everytime someone is saved. God will say he knows you when you enter the kingdom of heaven. I want to know him before I enter. The want is what you need to feed your faith. Want to know him and to do his will before your own. Bless you all.

      It’s something that most Christians are even blind to, which is why I refuse to be one of those Christians. So I spent months looking into this issue and the Bible cannot be any clearer. Most Christians ignore God’s command to rightly divide the word of God. That means each book of the bible is speaking to a certain group of people at different times. God deals with different people differently. This is because Jesus is a God of personal and unique relationships. He is a living God. Not a religion. The most important distinction is between the Jews and Gentiles, Israel and the Church as well as Before and After Jesus died on the cross. This is called dispensationalism, we deny the replacement theology. The Church is God’s spiritual Kingdom and Israel was His physical Kingdom, thus a Theocracy with different rules than today- which is Faith alone. God has not given up on Israel, He will deal with them again after the rapture of the Church during the tribulation. It will again be works salvation after the age of the Church.

      Link1234595 We are currently in the Church age. Our salvation doctrine is
      can be found in the Pauline Epistles from Romans through Philemon. Paul is the apostle for the Gentiles. We as the church have the Holy Spirit and are saved through Faith alone due to Jesus’s sacrifice on the cross. However since God has promised to restore our world to paradise, There will be a chain of events before the New Heaven and New Earth. This includes the 7 years Tribulation of Jacob’s troubles, the Millennial Kingdom of Christ, the Battle of Armageddon and the Great White Throne Seat Judgement.

    God is good?....by what moral framework can that even be asserted? A rudimentary reading of the old testament and the books of Deuteronomy, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, 1 Chronicles, 1 Samuel, Isaiah, all shows a god that sanctions slavery, genocide, rape, murder and infanticide. Here is an example: “Every one that is found shall be thrust through; and every one that is joined unto them shall fall by the sword. Their children also shall be dashed to pieces before their eyes; their houses shall be spoiled, and their wives ravished.” (Isaiah 13:15-16)How, in anyone's mind is this an example of anything good, or anything divine?

    Oh my Sweet Sweet Jesus.
    I am just blown away..
    Halfway through the video when the talk goes on about Aslan and Edmund I think it was one of those moments. Just to hear out loud that someone else felt that connection...
    A few years ago when I was pretty bad Boy. After agonising months or torment, sleep paraysis I remember the most amazing dream, which I truly believe was an encounter with Christ.
    I was walking through a field, lost and hating myself for the sinful life I was living.
    Just then I was taken aback, to my right was a lion. But This lion Was gigantic that I thought no way can’t this be real.
    I should have been crapping myself But I wasn’t scared of it at all.
    It smiled at me and then just wrapped me under one giant paw and hugged me...right then n there I knew that was God. That feeling of just love from your creator..
    But what strikes me even more was what Jordan said straight after about realising her own sinfulness
    In my dream this great lion then said to me , I know you have sinned but I want you to know that I love and forgive you...
    I don’t think I can describe this feeling other then my heaven.
    This video is just amazing to watch for me. Thank you!!!

      When you start having God interact with you on a daily basis, blowing your mind in all sorts of natural and supernatural ways, you start to gain faith that there are answers awaiting discovery for all of the tough questions that you can't see answers to yet. And then you start getting revelation as you go, and one by one those questions start getting answered. But the key is that that process happens in the context of your personal relationship with the Creator of the universe, not just in your own intellectual search for answers.

    And here I was hoping this would be good, lets assume I have no idea where morality comes from or even if it exists... Therefore what? God exists? That would be an argument from ignorance, just because you have an explanation that could possibly work, does not mean that it is true or likely true.
    And where does my value come from? that entirely depends on what you think is important.
    And if the question of morality goes down the path of "if morality isn't based objectively what's to stop people from murdering and raping," then that commits the argument from consequences fallacy, just because if something were true it would have negative consequences doesn't mean its false. No matter how you slice or dice it, this argument is dead on arrival.

    Phsalms 8.3-4When I look up at your skies, at what your fingers made- the moon and the stars that you set firmly in place- 4 what are human beings that you think about them;
    what are human beings that you pay attention to them?
