i own a Leatherman Wave and this guy is a real good looking clone. and I needed another Wave but at over $100 bucks that was not going to happen, but for over $40.00 That is a great price. So off to Harbor Freight I go. Thanks for the Video , 73 Vic de KE8JWE
neat little multi tool. I have the Leatherman Signal that has a carabiner, hammer, whistle, and the wire cutter blades can be replaced if need be with the other tools.
Great review, Mike. It's a carbon copy of the Leatherman Wave, and it will use the same accessories. I bought the bit set on Amazon and a sheath that holds the tool and the bit set. I saw a detailed side-by-side comparison video of the Gordon and Leatherman Wave on the Maxlvledc channel, and there are some things on this that are better than the Leatherman. The pivot screws on this has 2 bronze washers on each screw head, the Leatherman only has one, so the Gordon is smoother. I think Harbor Freight hit it out of the ballpark, just like the y did with the Icon folding knife.
Thank you for testing functionality of this cloned multitool. As a Ham, the performance weakness of its wire cutters and mini screwdriver, would leave me in a pinch if this was my only tool in the field. I purchased a used Leatherman Squirt ES4.
Just use the scissors to trim up stranded wires, that’s what I do with my old Leatherman! The wire cutters don’t work very well at all on my Leatherman! The wire cutters on my Gerber works way better! For $40, even though I have about 3 different multi tools I may buy one just to have a back up, keep in a pack or go bag!
Great review on a so-so tool. If they could get the wire cutters right, they might have something. Appreciate you going through all the motions showing each tool. The crimpers were a real surprise.
Seems like many enjoy this because it looks so much like the Wave Plus but i am sure the Amazon clones (Flissa, Bibury and any others) are just as good if you cannot purchase this one.
How does the handle feel when you bear down on it as pliers. Many multi-tools that expose the tools when you set them up as pliers are not comfortable at all to bear down on. I've also been looking for one in my local HF's. Nada!
@@hamradiotube I ask that because if you open up an original Leatherman and bear down in pliers mode, your hand knows it with all the tools exposed. Thanks for the reply. Now if my HF ever gets them in.
I own well over 25 leatherman at this point I would never touch a Gordon or a Walmart Ozark they are absolute garbage and have no longevity whatsoever. I could set my Leatherman on fire send it back and they would send me the same tool completely repaired or replaced. The tools always work they're extremely well designed and made in America
I have an original Leatherman, my son has a Leatherman Wave, and the wire cutters are the worst part of those also, so it's not just the Harbor Freight one 😀 That said, I would be lost without one in my pocket.
It was a nice touch going out on a limb and doing the random stick from the yard test. It's that kind of attention to detail that is sadly missing in the multi tool review sub genre of youtube. The only question I still have about this product is will it blend?
Good video on a sub par multi tool. I've been seeing this tool around and was going to get one for emergency back up, BUT I think I will pass maybe just spend the extra bucks on something else but i guess it's ok for 40 bucks
Unbelievable? Really?? You must never need a tool while out portable with your radio. I for one find them most useful. Especially when making antennas out in the field.
If you use the current 20% off coupon then you can get it for $32. I have this and a Leatherman as well. There is no question but that the Leatherman is better; the fact that the Leatherman comes with a 25-year warranty should tell you something! Then again at $32, I consider it a good value. DE WA1KI
SOG products are covered by a Limited Lifetime Warranty. I used to work for Leatherman in the assembly department. They are good quality tools but SOG's are just as quality and have the lifetime warranty.

Cutting pliers is important to me. I will stay with the Leatherman BOND multi-tool.

The leather man flat bit sets work in this multi tool!
I’m a big fan of harbor freight but for a descent cheap multi tool get the Ozark Trail one
I like most of the stuff I pick up from Harbor freight.
I’m still trying to figure out why some of the product smells so bad though
Yeah, I have noticed that too. Weird.

I definitely need one of these.
I wonder if my channel is big enough to influence them to add a mustache comb in the next revision... hahaha

Looks like a clone of my Leatherman Charge TTI
Hard up for stuff to review?
No
Someone teach this man what a rasp is
SOG and Gerber make good multitools for just a few more bucks.
Spend 40 on a swiss army knife
I bought a Swiss army knife. Was really excited about it too up until I got it. Not impressed at all. Returned it.
If it barely cuts wire straight out of the package imagine in a year of use
Had it for three weeks and broke the plier jaws
Doh!!
Pass - You get what you pay for.

I think you'd have to get the Gordon Blender to try that out lol!

Hater…its excellent
Betcha brittle steel too.
Can confirm this thing is a total chick magnet! 😁
The hate is strong in these comments. Blindfold the haters, and they would not be able to tell Wave from Gordon.
Oh, and it has a lifetime warranty.
Tell me you're out of content without telling me you are out of content.
Most ham radio operators find tools like this quite useful.
@@hamradiotube Most hams also use toilets; are you going to reivew those as well?
@@gary6212 I have a portable bidet. Maybe I'll review that.
@@hamradiotube I'd watch it!
Harbor freight made in china. Leatherman made right here in Oregon.
Is this a paid review? I've noticed this multi tool suspciously getting a lot of attention lately
Yes it is a paid review. I paid Harbor Freight my money, and then I reviewed it.
Sooo cheap
TRASH TOOL. NOT a HF brand, there are HUNDREDS of knockoffs and they ALL SUCK. stop buying trash and saying its good. NO ITS NOT.
Why are you evaluating multitools on a ham channel, really? unbelievable.
You’ve never used a tool to work on any of your equipment?
So we hams never use pliers or crimpers or wire cutters or any other tools? Get real dud...
@@IamSpectre2020 I must be a weird ham because I use my signal everyday.
