      Lol, why is it always people that ride Indys that are like this? They always think that they know best and that Independents are the only truck in the world. Don't get me wrong I like Indys myself, I have a set of 159 standards on an 8.5 traffic deck. They turn great and probably better than thunders. However, I do prefer my Thunder 151s on my 8.6 New Deal reissue. The pinch just feels so much better for this skater and the turning isn't bad at all. I find it much easier to hold fs Crooked grinds and the manual point is just where i want it. There is more than one good truck company in this world and taste is very subjective. But it's always the "fUcK tHe ReST" Indy riders that talk shit and act like there is only one good truck in the world. It is super fucking annoying.

    Schmitz says to add a washer to the bottom to not have blow outs. I haven’t tried it yet. But I’ve never had an issue. I ride ventures & just add Indy bushing. Indy bushings are the best along with doh doh’s. When I skated Thunder those bushing were okay.

    Great tip on reusing the bushings, thanks! I was riding the ACE-AF1 with their hard bushings swapped in for about a year or so. Really love those but right now I am riding the stage 4 indy. Great turning and feel right out the gate but they don't grind as smoothly as the ACEs do...may have to go back to those.

    Brooo over winter I've had so many problems with my trucks. I skate them pretty tight, just enough to where if you lean you can turn, but they're pretty tight aside from that. I exploded a bushing trying to treflip this side drop at my local indoor, and had trouble figuring out my setup again. I skate hollow thunder lows, with stock bushings. Everything about your trucks is so pivotal to your skating, a lot of people don't realize how everything is impacted by even the slightest difference. Love the content, your insight into breaking in your setup is super helpful!

    Breaking in trucks is annoying, especially if you need new bushings. As you mentioned, the thunder bushings become extremely hard in the cold weather which is a big issue if you are someone who is on the lighter side regarding weight.

    I am currently riding 33 Ace AF-1 trucks which fits an 8.0 board. I just started putting two washers in between my wheel and the truck, so I use three washers per wheel. It helps widen the truck stance a little bit, therefore you can grind more f the truck. I just stepped up to an 8.25 the other day because I love how more full the deck feels and looks. Let’s see how they feel on this 8.25 I just got. I generally do what you do, just let the trucks do their thing. I have only loosened them a couple times to get them back to what they were when I first put them on. Love the content man!

    ive been using tensor alloys since last july. i got them just as an experiment, to see if they were any good for being only $25/pair. i was really surprised, they're actually my favorite truck now (more than thunders). the thing that's great about them is they get a little bit stiffer/harder to turn as you lean over more, so it helps automatically stop wheelbite while still allowing them to be loose enough when you don't lean over as much. it feels like most other trucks just stay the same or even get looser as you lean over more, and it just makes the board feel terrible in my opinion. the stock bushings were way too soft for me on these, but i really like them with thunder hard bushings. i have to crank the nut down really far for how tight i like them, so that leaves a lot of kingpin exposed. i take the hangers off when they're new and use a belt sander to round the front edge down so it won't stick on feebles/smiths. if you don't have a belt sander, you can probably just scrape them on some smooth concrete. it's a little crazy, but i recommend it to everyone i can since it's so much cheaper than everything else

    5.8 Venture lights. Stock bushings withe the front loosened to the point of being flush in the front and same on the back with a half turn in. Then I mash them side to side a bunch before skating.
    I skate 54-56 wheels so thunders baseplate screws me on nose slides. The venture base plate with larger wheels is just right so I don't get to s of rock between the baseplate and the wheels yet I still get some baseplate contact. Hey Tom. Thanks for the video on your truck rituals. I have an issue. I don't know why. I assume as I got older and heavier I started struggling with trucks. New trucks would skate fine for a couple of sessions and then they would tweak. In such a way that you need to lean to a side to just go straight. Like it would want to turn to a side. I never had this problem when I was still at school. Chris Cole actually answered me once when I asked for advice and said I need to turn the bushins a quarter turn a few times so that the bushins could break in all the way around. Don't know if you have any advice. When I see you guys(pros) skate it never looks like you have truck issues.

    I skate classic indys with the standard bushings and I only tighten them a little bit when I first get them. I care less about breaking in new trucks now that I skate so loose. New trucks feel almost as loose as I skate them normally.

    Currently skating some Independent titanium hollows. I was skating the standards before and I wanted to lighten up my setup.
    Never skated Thunders before but I’ve skated a couple other brands and I always ended up snapping the kingpins.
    As far as bushings go, I’ve always just liked the stock Indy ones or the Indy hards.

    Just got a pair of thunder lights. Still a bit hurt to skate at moment but looking forward to trying them out. Usually rock bones hard bushings but even with Indys and now the thunders I noticed something with me. Some reason it’s harder to get bushings on the back truck for some reason. Haven’t done grinds yet for some reason just hard to push bushings in on back truck. Is that weird?

    Yo Tom. If I heard you correctly, you use a bottom ace bushing and a top bones bushing with no bottom washer? why is that, what does that offer that the stock thunder bushings dont?

    • @tomasta
      @tomasta  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      my bottom bushing is Ace and its sitting on the bones bushing washer...my top bushing is a bones soft with the stock thunder top washer...i find the stock thunder bushings super hard to break in...bones bushings offer little to no break in period....the only reason i have ace bushings in is because i was in a pinch with broken bushings and its all the shop had...but they turned out to be great..THANKS for watching !

    Love it Tom! I'm not good enough to really notice the differences in my trucks and have stock bushings etc, but I do prefer my Thunder Lights (I have 148s on my 8.25/8.38 setup) to the Indy Stage 11 Forged Hollows I have on my 8.0 deck but they both good. I only have front 50-50 grooves, but they are satisfying to look at and rub 😁
