I got you! Whatever is the last number he held up is the number…. At the start he held up nothing that’s why 1 was 0. Then when he held up 2 which is 1 bc he previously held up the number 1. Idk if I’m making sense but let’s just say he held up a 3 then a 5 the 5 would be 3 bc the last thing he put up was 3. Then let’s just say he held up a 2.
