So happy to see you are feeling "back to yourself" again. My weight hasn't changed, up 5, down 5, for years. However, once I turned 70, my body seems to always want to move in different places. And of course, not moving where I like it!!! I had a complete hysterectomy in my early 40's, and I did not gain weight. In looking back, I think I felt my best and most fit in my 50's and 60's. Life is always changing, and we must learn to change with it.
Lovely having you back again. From the comments it is clear how much you're missed ❤. Always love hearing about how you're getting on with sewing and life in general. Keeping it real and not fake is the reason why we keep coming back. Love the makes and hair. Thank you for taking the time to vlog ❤
I love your hair Rachel and love that you are back. Love everything about this video. I have gained some weight back and feel like you said. Not comfortable with my clothes right now. I have a bad hip and after I started to gain the weight back it got worse. Thank you for the video and can't wit to see the jumpsuit
I’ve been thinking about making the Sibiu top with the light ribbed fabric from btpd which I had as a Christmas present. I remember you doing a sewalong of it. The one you’re wearing today really suits you; the colour is just lovely on you .I’ve been struggling a bit with my body shape as recently my waist just increased and my stomach is distended. I have no idea why this happened suddenly as I haven’t gained weight. This change has really affected my choice in patterns and I’ve lost confidence in what suits me. I think I’m going to have to just accept it and get on with it. For me this means grading out for my waist then in for my hip which feels all wrong shape wise. So I understand where you’re coming from. I suppose we’re never totally happy with our bodies so trying to remain positive. Health is much more important and I’ve recovered from a major stroke and still working on gaining my former strength 😊
I was admiring your hair before you even mentioned it. It’s the perfect color for your complexion. It really brightens your face. Your beach waves are lovely as well. As always, I enjoyed your video! ❤
Maybe release the channel on the sleeve hems (after all that work inserting the elastic😢) and add a channel made of your pocket cotton to lengthen the sleeves the preferred amount? It's too nice not to be completely comfortable to wear. Btw-you look you- absolutely great! Looking forward to seeing your jumpsuit.
Lovely to see you back. You look really well.I totally agree with you about finding it hard to lose weight during the menopause.i had a lot of symptoms from hot flushes to night sweats.Anyway back to sewing your Pogonip is lovely I would never of thought to use such a thick fabric
Great to have you back. I love the top your wearing, the colours really suit you, hairs looking fab too. My husband and I have what we call our winter weight and summer weight. In winter we tend to put a bit of weight on but come February we decide to move to summer weight and lose the gained amount (we’re currently mid process). So like you we yo-yo a bit (it’s not a great amount. I’m in full on peri menopause but can’t say I’ve found it any different to lose the gained weight). It just is what it is and we don’t fight it 😂.
Your hair looks very pretty. Your plan for a second Pogonip sounds great and I love the fabric you showed for it. Your purple Pogonip is lovely. It must have been a bit of a challenge in that fabric, but you've achieved an excellent result. I've gained weight over the winter and need to get it off again. Part of me thinks I'm 72 now and I'd like to stop worrying about my weight, but it does affect my mood and wellbeing. So many patterns, so much fabric, so little time!
love the hair Rachel. keep up the chatty vlogs, I'm enjoying hearing all your news, helps to put a smile on my face, which I need after the last few months, thank you so much. would love to see hints for easy hemming!! 🐾🐾
Hi Rachel. Good to see you back looking really well and feeling positive. Like you, I've been unable to exercise (me for 8 years) so have piled on the pounds but I decided two weeks ago to stop eating to cheer myself up and at least stabilise my weight and hopefully lose a little. My sewing and TH-cam videos like yours have kept me going through challenging times. x
Your sewing space is looking fab. Looking forward to seeing the finished jumpsuit. I’m debating a jumpsuit for a wedding in May but going round in circles on should I make a dress or jumpsuit 😂. Even then can’t decide on a pattern 😂. Glad to hear you’re feeling better in yourself xx
Your hair looks lovely and so does your sewing room. Good to hear your sew-Jo is back. I can thoroughly recommend Pilates if your hip is bothering you and it will be a great combination with your running. Try some one on one sessions first to work on this issue and then move on to a class. Pilates works deeply on muscles you didn’t even know you had and you can build up support for your skeleton.
I'm so glad I watched this ! Like you I lengthened the bodice of my Pogonip top but it never occurred to me to lengthen the pockets too, which is obviously why I have an odd line of stitching above the elastic channel. Than you so much for pointing this out for me and I'll know better for next time !! Your sewing space is looking great.
Love the style and colour of the top you’re wearing. It suits you well with that lovely blonde hair. I have the pattern! Who knew. Now I want to make it!
Great to see you back. Your hair looks fab and so do you! You seem to be oozing confidence and I can tell you are in a happier place. Keep up the good work 😊
Itch to Stitch has an amazing pullover Bainbridge- I have made it a few times and love it. It has the best pockets, I wasn’t excited about the pogonip I think because of the Bainbridge.
I made the Anza dress last fall. I love it. For me it is perfect everyday wear while still looking put together. Eventually I will make one for everyday of the week.
Hi Rachel, I saw the trundle part of a singer sewing machine and the owner added a thick beautiful piece of wood on the top. It made a beautiful table, I thought it was gorgeous!😊
I really love Itch to Stitch patterns, they fit me beautifully. I imagine you'd have to lengthen the arms, legs and torso in her designs because you're quite tall and Kennis designs for 5'5" I think.
Love your pogonip pullover! You did a great job and love the idea of sewing it up with the rip stop fabric! You look great and it’s great to see you again and look forward to another sew along! ❤
You look so well and your hair colour is lovely. I was very tempted by the cord/ Sherpa fabric and nearly bought it from little legs in the Christmas sale. I love my Pogonip and want to make many more. Dog walking heaven. The lining keeps the pockets in place. At 52 I had arthritis diagnosed in my knee last September. I’ve lost 2 stone since then and I’m back near a rtw size 10 from a large size 14 and feel much better. I’m struggling to know what sizes to sew now! I’m glad you are feeling so much better.
Hello Rachel! Yeah, time has a habit of getting away from us. We are in March! How crazy is that? 😅. I’m glad you’re feeling more like yourself and doing things that make you happy. That’s so important. I know all about abdominal surgery. I had a double mastectomy with reconstructive surgery in 2022 and yeah it’s been tough. I was depressed and upset for a while but I’m doing good now. I’m really looking forward to your future videos. Sewing, knitting and other creative outlets are things that make me happy along with volunteering and my family😊. Thank you for sharing! Your friend Diane ❤
I sooo wish that I could have a one hour convo with you about my last 2 months and why watching all of your past weekenders, vlogmases and weeklies were so essential in healing from a devastating medical event the morning before Christmas: to end up watching this on the day I FINALLY had my checkup with a clean bill of health and all of the stuff in between! Just- thank you!❤
Your welt pockets look great. Love the fabric. So cozy for baby & dog walking, running errands. Your hair looks lovely. The colour on you is great. Menopause - I was very lucky. I had a couple of hot flashes and that was it. I was fine until I hit around 65 and then I had some other symptoms that required I start a low dose hormone. I agree we all seem to pass through that stage of life differently.
Lovely to see you back Rachel. You look really well and happy 😊 Looking forward to seeing what you have made and hearing about your future plans. As a beginner all the top tip Tuesday vids have been really useful to me. Currently I am avoiding buttonholes but I think that’s a very machine specific thing and I just have to practice with mine to learn about how to line them up 🙄🤣 I have completed my very first button up shirt…..it just needs the buttons and corresponding buttonholes 😂 I will get to it…..
Ooh I'll be interested to see how you got on Alison. I'm in that very same position. I've practiced but not yet happy with the outcome so need to practice a bit more to get my confidence up.
Rachel, so happy to see you again! I loved the ‘catch up’. Your hair looks fantastic. I love that top. Oh that wide wale color way is gorgeous! You did a great job losing weight…..you look very fit. The older I get, the harder it gets to lose the weight I always put on during the holidays! Di from Massachusetts
Really enjoyed your catch-up vlog and your hair looks lovely. You have changed my mind about the Pogonip and I love the fabric you chose. I think the jumpsuit will be lovely and I am tempted to get this pattern myself. I like the look of the dress too. Please bring back the sewalongs as they were so much fun❤
Great to see you back Rachel and looking lovely 😁💖. Your Pogonip looks super cosy 👌. Would love a tutorial on a typical zip fly... still haven't attempted one 🤷😜😘🤗
Good to see you again. I never had any menopausal symptoms at all. No hot sweats etc. so I hope eventually that you have little or no symptoms as time goes on.
I love your sew alongside & Top Tip Tuesdays. Be great to see how you sew a curved hem. I refer to your invisible zip tute all the time 🥰 so great to see you in such a good place Rachel 💕
That’s great that you are making this jumpsuit as I have had the pattern for about 3 yrs but never made , I will follow with interest, always enjoy your blog
Just returned to running at the age of 64. Started to get the sore knees and hips. Doing some research and I came across a couple of great books by a UK physio and former Team GB athlete. Paul Hobrough. ‘Running Free of Injuries’ and ‘The Runner’s Expert Guide to Stretching’ I’ve been religiously doing the hip exercises and the increased strength is helping fix the problems. I’m not aiming for distance running, just want the cardio exercise. Also ride a virtual bike several times a week (FulGaz) Cheers Julie (using my husband’s TH-cam account 😬)
Hi Rachel, nice to see you in a happier place with yourself. So glad top tip Tuesday is coming back. For me I'd like to see the rolled hem. See you at your next social. XxX
Lovely to hear your voice again but glad you were enjoying family times as well as working. Love seeing your pics with your beautiful granddaughter, It’s so tiring having them though isn’t it! I had a two night sleepover with 2 of mine, 6 & 1 years, I needed the following week to recover😂 Glad your sewjo returned and your hair is looking wonderful
Wonderful to see you back, you were missed. Your sewing room is really coming along. So nice when we are able to get things put away where we can find them when we need them. I am in agreement with you on the Pogonip. I also thought the placket was rather large. But I have to say I really think the Pogonip you made is lovely and I know you will enjoy wearing it on the cold days. Thanks for sharing. I am happy to hear you are feeling better and are ready to sew again.
It’s lovely to see you back looking so well and much happier, I made the pogonip twice, first one 2 big, second 2small 🫣3rd time lucky 🤞🏻 I did enjoy the process, first time for a placket and welt pockets 👏🏻👏🏻
Totally with you on the body image and sewing. Sewing something when you are not happy with yourself and putting the garment on ( whether it is my body or the pattern draft /style that is not good) makes me feel worse. Loving your hair. Great to hear you so up beat . Very interested to hear what you thinking Itch to Stitch patterns .
Great vlog as always I’m with you about the Pogonip I made one too for the challenge and am not usually keen on welts but was okay on this. Love your hair it’s really nice ❤❤
Lovely to see you, as always. Your hair colour really suits you and that top also. Glad you are starting to feel more on top of things, and I really like your new vlogging background. Putting in collars is always a bit of a challenge for me so any tips on that front would be great.

Love your Pogonip. Great to hear you feel more like you. I love the Sibiu top, so easy to sew and wear ❤
🎉 woohoo positivity working ❤❤❤
Top and hair is beautiful today ❤❤❤
Love your pogonip. Your hair color looks pretty on you. Glad you are feeling better.
Cool fabric for jumpsuit! Buttons? Fun!!!
Lovely having you back again. From the comments it is clear how much you're missed ❤. Always love hearing about how you're getting on with sewing and life in general. Keeping it real and not fake is the reason why we keep coming back. Love the makes and hair. Thank you for taking the time to vlog ❤

I Love Itch to Stitch patterns. She gives great attention to detail. I'm anxious to see your make. No doubt it will be beautiful !

Love that corduroy pull over! I would love to see how you use/sew bias binding to finish seams like inside a jacket/blazer or waistband. Thanks!
Love your vlogs! I’ve made the jumpsuit and I liked it a lot. I can see gold buttons with that fabric.
Keep up the good work 😊
You look glowing Rachel 😊 I love your plans for the Anza jumpsuit - one if my early pdf pattern purchases but never made.

Hi Rachel, you look amazing and your hair is gorgeous 😍
Good to see you back and I I am loving your top
Missed you, but I understand how it goes! I love your hair that color--it is so flattering!
Lovely to see you, as always. Your hair colour really suits you and that top also. Glad you are starting to feel more on top of things, and I really like your new vlogging background. Putting in collars is always a bit of a challenge for me so any tips on that front would be great.
Perfect thank you I’ll add it to the list
You look fab !
