You forgot that there was another Dolores copy in season 3, Lawrence who appeared in the finale, so we've seen all of the pearls snuck out of the park in their respective hosts. I think the reason we see Teddy in New York is because this takes place after Bernard has exited the sublime and he brought some of the hosts from there back into the real world.

      Great insights 😀
The main theme is clearly robots controlling humans. The graffiti is symbolic of that, but both William and Christina force a guy's behaviour, and both eventually kill themselves. I wonder if all players in the NYC park are hacked 🪰(and if they know about it)
Keep te up with these breakdowns

I feel maybe Christina is in the past when the park was just starting to be thought about. Hence the black shoes/white shoe choice Christina makes might maker her think on that. She could meet the real Arnold, the human that created her and that could fit Jeffery Wright as an aging actor since we know Christina is human. There are robots in her world so I feel her world must be set at a time these robot helpers are still around. Plus she makes games that might be the seed of the bigger games in the park. We don’t really see hosts in her world, yet it seems like a park…maybe those guys paid for a photo experience pre Westworld? I would love to see Christina and whoever Teddy is now to meet Arnold and be the inspiration for the park. I guess I rewatched the pilot and the Man in Black says “I will never understand why they match some of you up”. Maybe this season we will see the humans that inspired Teddy and Delores. It could be their choice, The Choice, to start the embryo beginnings of the park. Maybe as a virtual game before Delos bought them out. There had to be an evolution slowly to the tech that is in the show now. It didn’t suddenly happen. Perhaps the past, like 40 years ago in the show around 2010 or 2020 was a more ideal place. And really I would feel a creator like
      Arnold would model Dolores, The
Original, after someone he knew versus just being creative. She seemed symbolic. Maybe the show will explain why. I would love to see the human Arnold.

I've found that since season one, the YT commentators are a great companion to the actual show. It's also usually a really fun discussion group in the comments. I think credit due to the show runners that literally every thing you see in the show is visual metaphor. This further pushes the discussions and adds to the mystery.

Yep it’s great to have Westworld show back to keep us all guessing what’s going on.
I think much is hinting that the hosts have flipped the role on humans, at least in the new parks…but then again maybe the new parks = the whole world?

  • @benjier

Theory: Christina is writing Caleb’s story, maybe Maeve’s too. She was writing a romance with some humor. Caleb has a wife and daughter and it’s very dramatic. Then her boss says add some action. Maeve has an action sequence at the cabin then shows up to take Caleb on an adventure. So I’m thinking Christina is part of a machine that controls humans of whom some created westworld believing that they control machines a la the graffiti. Although that graffiti could just be referencing how rehoboem was controlling humans. But maybe it’s just more layers. Christina is part of a system of control and has no idea. IDK I think the point of this show is just to confuse us as much as possible. You know what, there are no humans. Hosts wiped us out and are trying to recreate humanity inside of a simulation. That’s definitely it.

Back at the end of Season 2, that is what I supposed. Humans have been extinct, and our transcendants are trying to reverse engineer consciousness. As they exist, but do not truly experience. "Cold Consciousness" as it is sometimes called. They MUST have these specific events and humans do what they do to understand the true nature of how humans experience. That is the ultimate game! Hosts upon different kinds of hosts? Maybe?

to puzzle it out you need to think of what the main story line would be. looks like its going to be host Charlotte vs host Maeve. Charlotte sure wants to control everything and replace all humans. but she might face the same problem old Dolores did. if hosts have free will they might not like her that much. Charlotte might be accidentally worse then the Dolores infused with Wyatt that we followed for 3 seasons. NY likely became a secret park operating in reality and only Charlotte team knows . host William will venture into sublime apparently and sublime will fix him, maybe. what i wonder is the old Dolores team still strong and does it have is own plans. What a really hope that Maeve have finally strong and constructive story line. not just die all the time and barely survive.

I understand how ppl may be bugged by how the different seasons seem so different from each other, and also importantly how the latest seasons seem to have diverged from the first two seasons, which obviously set the whole series for viewers. Personally, I think the series is just the more strong and interesting for how it doesnt shy away from evolving locations, characters personalities, arcs, and overall drama. To me, the overarching drama is about AI revolution, and I think the show does such a credible and comprehensive job at exploring this very compelling topic. We are used to shows exploring situational type drama, i.e. drama somewhat fixed in space and time. However, AI revolution representing such a powerful paradigm shift, I can only praise Westworld for keeping its exploration so "credible and comprehensive" precisely by "evolving locations, characters personalities, arcs, and overall drama" so... well, dramatically. Can't wait for this brand new season to unfold and surprise me!

6th pearl = Lawrence. The Bernard black-red pearl thing has always been very weird in S3. The simulation scene in S3E4 was never explained or understood. In it we see Halores printing a black pearl in the Mesa (this is a newly filmed scene for S3), and then pick up a black-red pearl in Arnold's house, it is implied these are the same pearls: Bernard. Since the black pearl is newly filmed for S3, this suggests it is not a retcon. But why was it black in the mesa? The meaning of the S3E4 simulation scene about the recreation of Bernard is not well-understood and no one talks about it.

I wish they had started season 4 with Bernard covered with dust.
William knows that the data at Hoover is encrypted and only Bernard has the keys since he was able to get into the sublime at the end of season 3
So I assume that William is trying to destroy all the humans when he says burn it all down ?
So most of the season will be a race between between Dolores to realize the hybridization of the hosts and the humans, while Williams trys to kill all the humans and have only hosts?

I think Christina is Delores without her memory. I don't know how, but it seems like everything she does is beyond acting to keep a low profile, she seems genuine with everything. I think she's living without knowing that she's a robot, and all of her creations writing wise are actually real memories and stories using the information she had about all the guests. She wrote a story that clearly ended tragic, with someone losing their family and killing themselves by jumping off a building. She thought that was her creative ideas, but really it's the story line for a real genuine person, Peter. She's writing people's lives and exposing them without even knowing that she is doing so. And if Charlotte is having people come after the hosts (Maeve and Caleb. I think Caleb a host lol), then Delores is next. Must be where they're heading too, and it's needed bc if Delores rly has no memory then there's no way she can protect herself against people tryna kill her. Just my thoughts but I've never been wrong in my life so sorry for the spoilers.

NOTHING is a mistake in Westworld. The different color pearl means something. The music in the scene ADDS MEANING. Remember the title is the Auguries. Augury: The art or practice of foretelling events by signs or omens. A further explanation is that the Roman Augurs, divined the gods will by studying the flight and calls of birds. We see events that are to come.

I think obviously everyone in New York is a host. I think you're going to see recycled characters a lot. The point of the West World park is that nobody ever makes it out of that park, so it's easy to resuse hosts in this New York park. Christina really is a totally autonomous host. She will have really base level qualities compared to Delores. Ultimately, they're the same character in a different setting. Whoever planted the picture of the map knows her potential in this park because she is the same as the Delores in the West World park. She will probably be the hero against the evil Delores that is still out there. Unless delores gets to her first.
One of the things you actually miss is when Caleb says goodnight to Frankie, look on the far left side of the shot when they zoom out and show her bedroom. There's some kind of lamp handing from the ceiling that she has dolls or toys of some kind in. Kind of a metaphor for the "tower" concept that is very real and looming over them all.
Frankie is the same character that is Maeve's daughter which is why she's so protective of her.
Delores is writing all the stories for the characters in the park. That's why they come to fruition. Probably going to be a metaphor for how the news media sort of writes our narratives for us before they happen (i.e. how they can spark riots by showing statistical anomalies that then become actualized. i.e. the tensions between the police and the black community actually worsening due to the media).

It was definitely Teddy that protected her. The leather jacket on the figure and that worn by Teddy in the final shot reveal are identical. What is odd is how quickly both her protector and Peter disappeared after she glanced away from them and back again. Far too fast for Peter to have been dragged/run away. Indicating that this is definitely a simulation. Also note, that Maya, Christina's room mate hasn't actually interacted with/spoken to anyone else yet. Plus Chrstina's boss just sort of sat there, staring into space after they were done talking and she was leaving the office.
Feels most like this is a version of Dolores that Hale is trying to restore in order to be able to unlock the encrypted files (that William referred to). Whether this makes Teddy a construct being used by Hale (who as a version of Dolores would know the impact he has on 'her') or it's the real Teddy (back with Bernard from the Sublime) legitimately there to protect her, remains to be seen.

You forgot Lawrence's Pearl...plus Charlotte retrieved the damaged but still functioning Pearl from Dolores/Connell after he blew himself up, which Maeve interrogated. And Charlotte still has it. Which may be key to Chrstina.
Also, if it is really Teddy that is back, you're being a little over simplistic in regards to why. He didn't kill himself to 'get away from her'. He killed himself because he saw the path she was on. He loved her but couldn't continue to help her 'while' she was doing what she had planned, and knew he never would stop protecting her if he was alive. However, Bernard actively went *into* the Sublime, and knows how Dolores deviated from that path, and was attempting to free humanity. If the Teddy in there learned of that, and knew she was in trouble, it makes perfect sense for him to want to return to help her. We hear Bernard telling someone that those in the world 'out there' are in trouble. It's entirely conceivable, as he can host more than one consciousness, that Bernard brought Teddy (and possibly others!) back with him.
Alternately, of course, this Teddy is a construct being used by Charlotte (who as Dolores herself, knows what effect he has on 'her') to help rebuild/restore a Dolores that can de-crypt the files she and MiB want access to.

Great recap! I look forward to your reviews as the season unfolds.
I suspect that Bernard's "hybrid" pearl is on purpose.
We learn in Season 2 that Ford made a copy of himself and stored it on a red pearl, which Bernard placed in the Cradle.
In S2E7, Ford and Bernard discuss free will inside the Cradle, the scene ending with Ford saying "unless I take [free will] back." Ford takes control of Bernard's host body. Later, as Bernard examines his own code, he sees his code and Ford's code have merged.
I think the hybrid black/red pearl symbolizes this Ford/Bernard hybrid, and hints that in Season 4 or a later one, Ford may make a return even though we see the Cradle destroyed, and watch Bernard delete the "Ford" code in Season 2.

Bernard controls the Sublime. Halores controls the NY park from the tower and is looking to expand operations using powerful humans that she controls, Man in Black, and flies. It's another attempt to control/destroy humanity. She sees Bernard, Caleb and Maeve as an existential threat. Bernard's AI has evolved, he has become like Dr Ford now. Bernard can interfere with the loops of NY park residents and sends Teddy to protect Dolores/Christina and to steer her to consciousness. He will use her to release his "reveries" to destroy the park from within and may even appear as Dr Ford at some point. Halores may have production facilities in Dubai, but not the training AI infrastructure. Since Rehoboam was destroyed, only the few trained models of Sublime remain. Whoever controls the Sublime/has the encryption keys will win this war.

Not if the point of the loop is to study hosts to see if they become sentient. The whole point of the West World park is they aren't supposed to be sentient because the people running the park aren't even sentient. Each level of the labyrinth (West World > New York > Whatever other parks are next) symbolizes a journey towards consciousness. Each level gets harder and the clues become less obvious.
Point is, this park operates in a higher state of consciousness. These hosts are evolved and more advanced (just as we have become more evolved from the wild western days). Therefore, they're not as easily programmed by "religion" (or a reset of a loop in the case of West World).
This programming is a lot more subtle. While we last saw themes like the Christian confessional in West World, we'll probably see modern tools used to control people that we consider truth. This will include things like the news media, politicians, and science that is beyond the comprehension of the average person (in this case host). This is a blatant commentary on our societal shift from religion to politics and science as truth. Concepts that seem more sophisticated, but that the average person still cannot grasp. The whole point of the New York park is that it follows the same rules as West World, just in a more convoluted way. Again, a comment on our oppression as a society. Whether it's god or politics or science, the tool to oppress may have changed, but the goal has not.
Caleb's coworker nails it. Everyone's story is already written. The next step of the journey to sentience is learning what your story is (through the predictive AI). Funny thing is, these New York hosts are programmed to riot and destroy that information that they could be using to become sentient (like Delores did when she got ahold of her code in West World).
They wanted this park to destroy that predictive analysis tool from season 3, because that stops the majority of the hosts from continuing to progress through the maze. The point of the maze is that not every host gets to escape. Only the hosts smart enough to notice that they're being designed to destroy their own progress.
I also agree with Think Story's nod to Christine as a christ-like figure. You can think of this park as the kind of "new testament" to the old park's "old testament" of sorts. The West World park was kinda wiped out. Bodies floating dead washed up at sea. The chosen few kinda boarded the ark (train) and got out of dodge. Very Noah's ark flood type of vibes.
Where the humans playing god ruled with an iron fist from a distance in West World and viewed themselves as above the hosts, Christine will walk amongst her peers like Christ did. Possibly even alluding to the fact that she was created in Ford or Delores' image.

    • @RichardRagan
      @RichardRagan 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

@@user-dc7um4pr3f Actually I think that it's the other way around... the park is not set up to up to see what the hosts are doing as in the last few seasons of westworld, the park is set up by Hale hail to see how humans are reacting and to extract the key to the sublime from Christina.
But I think your general point is correct in the sense that this season's all about waking up
Hale is trying to see if she can wake up the hosts
Christina will try to wake up and then try to awaken the rest of the humans. Remember what Dolores's mission was at the end of season 3... to wake everyone up
The show runners keep on talking about the whole point of this season is to question the nature of your reality

Caleb's daughter looks an awful lot like Meave, then Caleb training her gives me a John Conner kinda vibe. Maybe this is some kind of origin story. Not sure how that works yet, just a feeling. Maybe both Maeve and the MIB are entering this virtual world from the real world. OMG are they going to introduce some sort of time travel element. They do love messing with timelines. Something is definitely fishy.
Maybe Deloris being the painter and painting her surroundings implies that she is the "architect." Maybe she has been all along and this is all going to be one giant meta creation.
ok so maybe the virtual world is a copy of the past, just like all the other parks, a time before Delos. Maybe Delos started out as a gaming company named Olympiad that had an employee named Christine who was the original writer that created a new kind of world that propelled the company into what it later became, Delos, hence the name being like DELOriS. Maybe this is why Caleb is giving me this Sarah Conner vibe. Maybe the REAL real Maeve is the one who grows up to fight the computer AI overlords, like John Conner. Maybe the REAL real Deloris is the original "architect" that created the whole virtual prison. Maybe this whole thing is just an origin story leading up to a matrix like future where all humans are slaves in a virtual world and the "parks" are just metaphors for what is really going on in the REAL real world, which sets up a Deloris vs Meave conflict, or maybe Deloris became aware of what she had created and teams up with Meave to free all the humans, like the Matrix. But maybe everything we have seen at this point is the virtual world full of metaphors acting as clues to the inhabitants leading them through "the maze" until they can realize what is going on, to wake them up to reality. Maybe the REAL real Deloris is more like Ford, writing in flaws and clues into the system to awaken not the robots, but mankind! BOOM! mind blown!

Teddy I believe is someone sent by Halores wearing his skin, sort to speak. I also think they're testing out the integration of hosts into the real world, without ppl knowing. The flies are likely a reference to Crichton's other book "Prey". They're definitely going to used to turn humans into hosts.
