The A/V quality isn't the best, but it looks like she did a really good job. I just personally prefer this song with Anette's perfect 'witchy' vocals!

There's an interesting documentary about it here on YT. I'm not sure exactly how many times they did Scaretale with Floor, but I believe it was dropped from the set-list not too long after. As for Anette's voice on this song, she is of course role playing the part of the spooky witch and does so brilliantly. Her natural voice is great, especially lovely on the softer, quieter, ballad type songs. I listed them on another comment here and for me I just couldn't imagine anyone else doing them. But that's just my opinion of course. I've said it many times before, although I do have my favourite, I love all three very different NW singers. Not forgetting Marko also!

Its like Tim Burton having a night with a metal band, and this song is their unholy offspring. I really loved this side of Nightwish, like a dark, twisted carnival. Anette really shines on this one.
She was singing in a character here, it's one song from a conceptual album, which is very theatrical. But try some of the ballads with her on them, I think they are where she really shines. "Meadows of Heaven", "Eva", "The Crow, the Owl, and the Dove", "Turn Loose the Mermaids".
Anette's singing style in this song is very strongly a witchy character sound, this is not what she typically sounds like. She is playing a character, just like Marko too. For Anette's normal singing you could check the album versions of songs like Amaranth, Meadows of heaven, Eva, and so on. There's not many good quality live recordings from Anette era, so album versions are better with her.
I am one of the folks who enjoy the talents of all three singers. The two albums with Anette spawned some of the biggest concert favorites and hits the band has had just wish it had gone down better handling her exit. Anette has a more radio friendly 'pop' voice style than Tarja or Floor and that doesn't diminish what she brought to the band.
I agree except about the exit. Anette wanted to delay/cancel the tour when she got pregnant. Tuomas countered with having Floor Jansen (who was available) replace her on the tour, then bring Anette back even though there were serious issues inside the band with Anette before that (as verified by Troy and Marko). Anette refused even though canceling would have destroyed the relationship the band had with its fans (and cost them a fortune); as she said the fans will like Floor more since she is more metal. Well, she was right about that.
Almost all of us feel just like you. Annette was a totally different style singer. This is a very character driven vocal performance. In line with the American holiday season of Halloween. Just a pure fun song with a little Cirque du Soliel horror added. Once again Dominika, YOU GET IT! Watching your reactions puts a smile on my face and warms my heart. Thank you so much. hello, I've been watching your reactions for a long time, and I really love seeing the passion and feelings that emerge in you when you react to nightwish, it's like reliving the first time I heard this wonderful band. I have listened to nightwish for more than 18 years, and I confess that my favorite stage was the first era, with Tarja, but I love each stage with each new singer. I would like to see you react to more tarja and Anette songs, and I would like you to listen to more studio versions, I know that nightwish is impressive live, but their studio versions are as much or better than the live versions. I am sure they will have a great impact on your feelings. albums like "Dark passion Play" or "Imaginaerum" with Anette are true masterpieces. And what about "Once" and what about the albums with tarja, they were like magic. Anette was much better and more versatile than she is often given credit for. Imaginaerum is a stupendous album where Tuomas has been able to write to Anette’s many strengths, and the ‘giggly evil’ of Scaretale is Anette and the lads having a riot.

These albums with Annette were the sign that Nightwish were moving forwards and not stagnating, obviously Annette and Marco are using very stylised and theatrical vocals here and this is such a great piece of camp and I am sure they had an immensely fun time recording and creating the video!
Your faces were just the best when Marko started singing! Definitely check out the movie Imaginaerum, and there is a documentary about the making of the movie that is really interesting as well, both are available on TH-cam. Two recommendations for the channel or just for your viewing - Slow Love Slow live at the Montreaux Festival to hear Anette absolutely shine in a jazzy number (it is also in the movie, but the live version is amazing), and Marko singing The Voice of My Father from his solo career (there are versions in both English and Finnish, both beautiful - I'd recommend the English first so you know the words, but the Finnish version is especially beautiful). It's always a pleasure to watch your reactions. Thanks for doing Scaretale. Not many reactors check it out and it's so much fun.
"Meadows of Heaven" is in my humble opinion, the Best Nightwish song with Annette as the lead singer. One particular video with beautiful, natural photos and on screen lyrics is the best to view, as once again, Tuomas' Lyrics are just beyond the pale A very profound tale of childhood and childhood lass which really hits the emotions, and a soaring crescendo at the ending make it another beautiful piece of work. Kind of expected with Mr. Holopainen's compositions.

Tuomas is channeling his inner Danny Elfman pretty hard in this song, and I love it. There's a particular melodic line at one part that I would swear is a direct reference to one Elfman song or another, but I've never been able to pin it down.
One of my favourite Halloween type songs ever next to the Stranglers 'Waltz in Black'. The sound you would get if Danny Elfman and Tim Burton were in a metal band in an alternative universe.
To hear Anette's Angel voice singing, react to the song "Nightwish - Eva" (the Album version) - it is one of the most Angelic female voice I have heard! And I DO love Floor's Angelic voice best, so it is not because I would try to force Anette reaction - the song and the voice are just beautiful and touching! The song is about a small girl named Eva, who doesn't have friends and who is somewhat bullied and she doesn't understand why, so she escapes to imagination to find some happiness to life..
This is not the best song to be introduced to Annette with. She actually has a beautiful voice. I recommend you listen to "Meadows Of Heaven" and "Turn Loose The Mermaids" and "Slow Love Slow." They are beautiful songs that showcase her voice beautifully.

I feel the same with the voice in this era, with Anette's voice. I mean, I don't agree with the hate that she received because she's a great singer, but sincerely, I prefer the voice and live performance from Tarja and Floor. My opinion may not be popular, but its mine none the less. When Annette joined, it was a great change as I fell in love with NM with Tarya but in my eyes all she did was operatic and it grew tiresome for me. Annette came with a much different voice and to be honest the 2 records with Annette sy=till have some of the most popular songs. I do love Floor and feel she brings a perfect sound and ability to the masterpieces that Tuomas writes. That being said, I love all three and still prefer certain songs with one singer over the other. To be honest I do not thing Floor would be able to do tis song much justice. Don't get me wrong......She would 100% kill it, bt I feel I would always go back to this version as my favorite.

Im not a fan of Annette at all, but I think she does this song perfect. Her voice is meant to sound "witchy", and she does it very well. Outside of this song, you can delete her from the Nightwish archives as far as I'm concerned.

Great observation. I was a big Oingo Boingo/Danny Elfman fan back in the 80's and his film scores. That would be fun to know if Tuomas was a fan.

My opinion may not be popular, but its mine none the less. When Annette joined, it was a great change as I fell in love with NM with Tarya but in my eyes all she did was operatic and it grew tiresome for me. Annette came with a much different voice and to be honest the 2 records with Annette sy=till have some of the most popular songs. I do love Floor and feel she brings a perfect sound and ability to the masterpieces that Tuomas writes. That being said, I love all three and still prefer certain songs with one singer over the other. To be honest I do not thing Floor would be able to do tis song much justice. Don't get me wrong......She would 100% kill it, bt I feel I would always go back to this version as my favorite.
I love this version, but you should also check out the Helsinki 2012 version.
@@michielwvdb Tanks for tis. I never heard Floor do ts song. Again, she did in fact nail it, but I still prefer Anette voice with this song. Same with Amaranth, again Floor does tis song perfectly, but I still hear Annette.

Sorry… I doesn’t like Anettes voice along with Nightwish. But this is my opinion. I watched them live at Wacken 2008 and it was horrible!

Im not a fan of Annette at all, but I think she does this song perfect. Her voice is meant to sound "witchy", and she does it very well. Outside of this song, you can delete her from the Nightwish archives as far as I'm concerned.
Annette sounds OK in videos but weak live on stage in my humble opinion.
