A great example of how cinematic the images out of the FX30 can look. If you use Catalyst to convert into Sony Raw/MXFs, the ISO can be pushed up in post.
Considering getting an fx30 right now. Currently I'm shooting on an Fs5 with a shogun inferno, which is great, but I feel like I could cut down on a ton of weight with an fx30 while shooting better formats internally. I'm just sad to be ditching the built in ND...
No ND is a big bummer for sure. But FX30 has better image than FS5 I & II. Or so thats the word on the streets. Plenty of folks also use it as a low cost B cam next to FX6.
Metabones softness is nice, especially over how clinical the sony is, and the skintones do look better on the metabones, but that's just a result of letting in more light into the sensor yeah since the speedbooster is chagning your f-stop, so you could technically have your skintones looking good on the other lenses if you just increased your light intensity to match exposures no?
I'm wondering if just the added light on the sensor is crafting better skin tones in camera? But I agree, every single shot I preferred the metabones image.
the metabones handled skin tones really nice. is the metabones a good one for EF autofocus? currently have the viltrox ef-E adapter and its so noisy with the autofocus motor plus it sometimes hunts.
@@JustinPhillip i correct myself i have the metabones but its the dummy adapter not an actual speed booster. ill look to get one of them so i can get a wider field of vview and an extra stop of light.
Would anyone suggest the a6700 versus fx-30 using mainly for documentaries and a little movement .. also Mic setup for Fx-30 and an XLR mic without that accessory that hooks in hotshoe? Ty🙏

What is that workflow exactly?
The Metabones looked more pleasing on my 4K television. Skin tones looked on point! Blessings
FX30 is a solid affordable camera.
100% I find the image it produces punches way above its weight class. So much so I find myself grabbing it for shoots more than any other camera I own
Good video Dog Times brother
Thanks!

@JustinPhillip For sure, I think it's a worthwhile trade-off, I'm super excited!
I was going to say, I actually love how the metabones is softening up that digital edge of the Sony ❤

Maybe so, i took it as more that the metabones is more glass, so thats why i thought it was softening it.

So personally I vote for the Leica 60mm on the metabones speed booster. Something about it just makes your skin tones look a bit nicer.
I do agree. That 60mm has been CLA’d, whereas the 50mm hasnt been serviced in a while. So might be a bit more haze on that one
Thank you for this .
f1.2 - f1.8 for the FX30, shouldn't that be better to catch some more light in & eliminate the noise in slower f.'s ?
Yes. But summicron is f/2, so 1.4 w/ speedbooster. But more like f/2 for FF equivalent.

This one has the electronics & even an ibis switch, but i havent any canon AF lenses to test it

Could you share what you are using for your timecode slate? It looks like a slate with iPad?
yeah its called DigiSlate, on corporate jobs i use it with a dummy slate because the app is so quiet.

Thx for sharing 👍🏻
I didn’t know 2500 ISO is low light. How about some 12,800 ISO for some real low light?
😅
@@JustinPhillip oh yeah you might need the A7SIII for that video
Skin tones are too red and the image seems under exposed by at least a stop.
thanks Chris!
You look coked out but hey who cares 👋
🤣 wow, 11 years clean, but i guess you never shake the bones
@@JustinPhillip indeed. Only the metabones
@@JustinPhillip congrats bro. I’ve been clean for 6 myself and I’m 32 so that’s good eh
Do you think you would ever be willing to do a comparison video between the FX30 with a speed booster vs an FX3?
Yea thats a good idea
