- Be right in the middle of all the action at during the Pride of Broken Arrow's show at Music for All's Bands of America Grand National Championships, presented by Yamaha, the nation's premier high school marching band competition.
Man oh man, the brass in the beginning (1:27) will always give me goosebumps, love seeing these guys perform!
I didn't expect that from a high school band @ 1:25. I knew their reputation but wow. I wanna know how you build a music program like that at a high school incredible
LexiBandGeek have insanely good directors who push students to do things they thought they never could. Honestly we're just a bunch of kids doing what we love and having a good time. It's the tradition and the legacy left by members that came before us and the directors constantly pushing us to do better both on the field and off. Without the directors it has and the tradition of discipline and excellence that was started way before 2012, BA would not be where they are today.

Well this is my band and we don't have a lot of money. You can see that the euphonium that he is holding is dented, not particularly shiny, and 10-11 years old. And the trumpets are just regular concert trumpets and belong to the players that hold them.
So no, money has nothing to do with how good we are.
🤣 right. Just like money has nothing to do with how good the best HS football teams are, or any other sport or activity you so choose. BA gets more funding for their band program than any other in the state. They pay your director more than any other director in the state. So yes, it has literally everything to do with money.
Speaking of Broken Arrow, after finals were over with I was complimenting one of their members and she took it very well, perfectly displaying the kind of sportsmanship that all bands like this should have.
We met them at super regionals. It was amazing :)
Broken Arrow - Home of Tony & Emmy Award winning actress and singer Kristin Chenoweth!! This was her Alma Mater and she would be so proud of this band.

I feel, personally, that if your band has a ton of talent, money, and a good booster club, you can be this good. Money actually does play a part in how good a band is because as you can see in this video, the quality of instruments these kids get to play on is staggering. The trumpets are drum corps bugles. And just everything is of exceptional quality, including the guard costumes. Those factors really play a role. In my band, they use old concert trumpets and bad souasphones.We still do ok tho
IBTwist I realize this is an old comment, so take my reply how you will, but Broken Arrow Band gets very little funding if any at all from the school system. Oklahoma's education budget is crap anyways. All of the things you see in a Broken Arrow show are paid for by the kids through hard work and tons of fundraising. There are kids who work their butts off so they don't have to pay a cent of the $2000+ cost to be in the organization, simply because in their financial state their parents can't afford it. Those costumes are paid for by the performers wearing them. The trumpets all belong to the players, the school and the band combined spend $0 on them. It's not about how much money you have, it's about how dedicated you are.

Indiana doesn't have a drum crops. And they've got some of the best bands in the country.

Aquatarkus uhh... next to 0 school funding... $2500 in fees to be in it this year... half the band pays less than $100 of that because they can't afford to so they work their butts of in fundraisers... everything you see in the show is paid for by students working fundraisers... half the instruments are paid for out of pocket by the performers... You're funny!
