As men we have to have the courage to talk about these things and seek help for dealing with the trauma. But the way forward is to understand that most of the young people who molest their peers were probably victims themselves at some point. That's how the cycle continues. When I told my people about being SA’d freshman year of high school they were more concerned with his future than what happened to me. The school took him out of the class we had together for all of a week then he was right back. After seeing how that went, I knew I made the right choice to not speak about anything that had happened before then or after.

I don't generally like this particular style of rap but I absolutely have to give him credit for, as he said, being vulnerable and laying it out on the record. It takes a tremendous amount of strength to be able to talk about something so heavy and personal, especially when the culture you grew up in and the genre of music you operate in is rife with toxic masculinity that discounts feelings as being somehow unmanly or weak.
When I told my people about being SA’d freshman year of high school they were more concerned with his future than what happened to me. The school took him out of the class we had together for all of a week then he was right back. After seeing how that went, I knew I made the right choice to not speak about anything that had happened before then or after.
Every time I heard the verse I never understood why people didn’t take it seriously or talk about it
