Hello dear Vivi! I am so enjoying these regular chatty videos. It is just like having a lovely friend pop over for a chat. I hope you get a good price for your records. Sophie
Aww, thank you lovely......that's exactly how I want my videos to feel......like visiting a friend and sitting at the kitchen table nattering and drinking copious cups of chocolate and eating cake or crumpets! 😉
Hiya Vivi Thankyou for the chat in the kitchen this evening. Hope you were able to squeeze in a wee snooze? . Blessings luv see you soon, take care. Southern Ontario Canada 🇨🇦🐝
How great to have the energy surveyor recommend the shop to you. Hope they give you a good price. When the energy surveyor came to do our house I mentioned to him that I was looking for a small bungalow. His next appointment was for a lady who was selling her Mum’s bungalow and it was about to go on the market. He kindly put us in touch with each other and that is how I found my new home. Lucky me!
Hi Vivi. What a huge contrast in experiences with the record shops from last time to this time. Glad they were a delight to deal with. I loved the Smiths also. Great shop finds. Have a lovely weekend.
‘Judge you by your books’ -me too 😂can’t help it - and I always feel sad when I enter a new house and there’s no books. For your record, the shop Giraffe had some album sized frames.
Vivi dear, I think you’re “warming” up to the color yellow! If shipping weren’t prohibitive, that green pitcher would be on my counter in a heartbeat! The color and gentle shape are lovely. Do try to refill your energy tank. A half day off wouldn’t hurt, off to a park for a fall picnic 🧺 perhaps. Digging through junk/flea shops for hours used to be my soothing activity. It felt like an archeological dig for undiscovered treasures. That was when I kept a booth at an antique mall. Booths have been largely replaced by curated online shops like yours. Happy days. ❤
I totally fell in love with the little green jug.......hahaha, I'm wishing, now, that I'd kept it. It's always the way......I fall in love with my finds. I'm seriously considering a day off tomorrow......too many busy, bonkers days recently!
Yay for frog bums! 😁 I look forward to sitting in the garden / terrace / kitchen / balcony (whatever you have at the new place) and having toast from that rack. 👍👍👍
Absolutely LOVE your chatty videos, literally feels like you’ve come over for a tea or coffee and chit chat! I LOVE your flea market finds..sometimes those chaotic shops are where you find the best things! You make me want to start selling a few things too, the hunt is just so much fun! Thanks for video! 🙂🍂🌻
Yellow and green, my 2 favourite colours....the jug would make a lovely flower holder too. You have a good eye vivi. The yellow painted flower looks like a dandy lion 😊 glad you're feeling better.
Love your finds!!!! I think one must love something to think anyone can else would! Rest up between your jobs Viv..a ten-minute nap can help get us through the day.
Yay to chatty videos with Vivi. Im on a long covid fatigue crash and feeling unwell. So you are a tonic . I hope you get a good price. And a nap 😴 😂 Yes, to the relationship clicks. If you know, then you know how right those people are in your life at that moment. ❤❤❤ xx
I love it when I meet people and feel the click......it's usually a pretty instant thing for me. Ach, I hope some rest refreshes you enough for a lovely weekend....
I really enjoy a rummage round the thrift shop, flea market, or garage sale! I accumulated most of my big garden pots in the fall through garage sale finds! Spur of the moment, no expectations! those old toast racks are also good for sorting mail or on a desk top for note paper envelopes stamps and cards!
PS. I would love your "declutter manifesto", because I have been thinking about that a lot. I moved a few times and every now and than, in the chaos of discarding lots of stuff in order to save myself the problem of moving it, I managed somehow to get rid of things I now solemnly miss... For example I tossed my (fountain) pen I used in the uni. I cannot even remember what brand it was. I now take a look at my notes and think "Oh my, what a fine, hairline strokes.. I wish I had this pen now..." Ugh.. well.. :-)
Your Cornishware pot. If it turns out to have a crack or glaze crazing you could still use it as a vase if you put a cut-down plastic bottle such as a 2 litre water bottle etc into the jar to actually hold the water. I love the toast rack, it's a beauty!
I still have some old records and some of my dad's. I almost never listen to them. I used to listen to them when I cleaned the house. I can't even remember the last time I did that. Enjoying your videos even though I've never heard of any of those bands you mentioned. : )
Oh my our taste are very much alike at least in pottery. I would use the little toast holder as you call it for napkins. Wonderful useful pieces I loved all 4 of them. The color green on the tiny pitcher is fabulous.
Hi, Regarding your vase, I have put a glass jar in a vase so I could use it with a slight crack. Love that you are taking us along on your house selling and buying journey. All the best that it all works out.😄
Hi Viv! I’m pleased to know you are finally feeling better! I’m glad you have had a good experience with the record shop . I was going to suggest as you were talking about the signed album to just keep and display it for the autograph and a lovely reminder of another time . I love your little treasures! I collect things like those too! ❤xx
Hi Vivi. Love the pot. I'd be tempted to put a cork lid on it as an option. I am a relationship builder too. And always shop local as much as possible.
I threw my and my husbands records away years ago when we thought it would always be CD’s and now really regret it, I’ve recently bought a cheap record player and are trying to buy my records again, I bought a Smiths album I had had but a new version and it cost about £40! I’m fuming and my husband hasn’t forgiven me! Hope you got a good price for yours!
Love your green top with the nice buttons on the front Vivi. I also just listed my condo to sell so I can move to a place without stairs as I am 70. I can still manage them easily but they can be a hassle at times. I have 15 steps located inside my foyer on ground level that lead upstairs to my complete 2 bedroom apartment. In the past I missed a step at bottom, fell & broke my foot. It is in South Florida. Great idea to move to place where you can age in place for as long as possible. Love vinyl records that I still have from college days & more!
I do what you are doing Vivi...I am getting rid of anything that is no longer needed... I have been de cluttering since lockdown and have sold loads of stuff...not enough that HMRC need to be worried I promise you...I am way under the personal allowance threshold. I asked my adult children what they would do with my stuff once I kick the bucket and they both said..."put it in a skip" so there was the confirmation that I did not need to hang on to things!
I learned the lighter fluid trick when my son was at school and got chewing gum on his trousers (not his own gum and more than once !), it just melted it off . I have since discovered that WD40 does the same job which is very convenient as we always have that in the house.
Hello Lovely Vivi, Sounds like you have had a all around lovely day.... The joy in your voice showing and talking about the treasures you found is sure to make them sell quickly...Hmm that's something to think on for your future finds lovely... I have a book by Gillian McAllister she's a British author she writes psychological thrillers that I just love and we were chatting on Twitter and she sent me a signed copy of The Good Sister.. I have it in a shadow box with a picture of my sister on one side and one of me on the other that I just adore. She's a great author and a lovely person. Psst.. I'm not the good sister between the two of us 😉.. Hope you get a fair price for your albums... I see that yellow has been catching your eye lately hahaha... Much Love from across the Pond 💞
What a lovely treasure....and a lovely way to keep and display it so you can enjoy it every day. Hahaha......it didn't strike me until I was editing the video but, yes, I seem to have gone for a bit of yellow. 😉
Just have to tell you this story……I was working in an office and we had an apprentice with us, lovely boy and he sat next to me. After around 4 months of working together, we were chatting one day and he said his dad was going to miss his birthday as he was away DJ-ing. I was like, that’s cool thinking disco DJ/weddings etc and asked how he’d got into that. “He used to be in a band”, I was thinking local pub band etc, I asked what was the band called, “The Smiths”, I literally nearly fell off my chair and couldn’t believe I was just hearing that after months of working together. I was like, your actual dad was in The Smiths, too cool 😎. It did rather explain why he was vegetarian from birth. Absolutely lovely young man although it made me feel a bit old and I had to tell him that I was into Duran Duran as a teenager which then clearly marked me out as uncool old lady. But I have that fun story and a happy memory so it’s all good. You should definitely frame and display the LP, it’s epic x x
I have no idea about Morrissey's political views, but I am all for animal rights, so he cannot be all bad :-) I also judge people on their books... shushhh... Once I was in a house with not a one book. What a peculiar experience that was... Lots of love, Vivi! :-)
Fingers crossed for a good price for your records. I've been thinking of selling some of mine. Like you, I have no way of playing them so I might as well get rid of them. Also, I need to know where that junk shop is! I love little places like that.
I love the toast rack! It's Royal Winton Grimwades, from the "Pixie" line. You should be able to swivel the frog around to face away from the rack. There's currently a few with some accent coloring available on various sites for 35+ pounds each! (And toast racks are handy desk items for papers/receipts/etc.)
Oh how I would love to see a photo of you from the times of that signed Smiths album! That was a wonderful story. I felt a little bit transported in time listening to it. Do you sell on Vinted?

I’m not wording this properly. 🙄 I meant checklists. You are doing great & trying to balance everything while being ill. You are bound to flag a bit. Do what you can as you can. We’ll be here, listening & cheering you on. 😁
When I got rid of all my vinyl a few years ago I kept my favourite 3 (2 different versions of The Rocky Horror Picture Show soundtrack and an EP of the band my dad was in back in the day, The Distractions) and they're framed on my bedroom wall. I agree there's no point keeping them in a cupboard, let someone else enjoy them or put them on display 🙂

I use a few drops of olive oil to get off tape residue. If that doesn't work lighter fluid usually does.
