Coding bootcamps are a joke and teach nothing important. Did you think your two week bootcamp would really compare to a 4 year degree with 30-35 computer science courses which are each 4 months long. If recent grads cant get a job why the hell would a company want a 2 (or whatever) week react hero? I've never meet a bootcamp grad that even explain basic DS&A concepts deeply. Its a waste of energy to hire bottom of the barrel bootcampers.
Damn, woke up cranky and spreading negativity to the person just counting his blessings and spreading positivity. He's speaking on his experiences with bootcamps and how it changed his own life, arguing whether a degree or a boot camp isn't part of the question but rather a different alternative to what someone might be looking for. Any form of knowledge is great to add to someones arsenal, whether it be 4 years of studying or 1 month personal boot camp.
@@FlopsMcgeeyes, he is reflecting, someone that goes to college have it easier due to the internships within the college. But I guarantee you that most of recent grads does not have a portfolio well done or projects that they did themselves so both sides has its advantages when a company hire a self-taught they know that person learn by himself all the time he is more reliable. In addition you won’t memorize half or more of the information that you learned in college is about mastering a language or understanding the logic meaning you memorize what you do the most, learning c++ in a semester, Java in other and so on don’t take you anywhere but if you are a person that need college to be more committed that’s fine and also it depends in your life situation. Omg I typed too much but in a nutshell I respect both sides but more self-taught and I was both that’s why I can relate.
I have a computer science degree. A 4 year degree doesn’t teach 30 comp science courses. You have to learn general education: English, math, science classes etc. My college and I’d venture to say colleges in general don’t teach web dev, they just teach c++ but that’s assuming we aren’t talking about a software engineering degree. Some colleges offer that now meaning they teach practical knowledge . Boot camps teach you how to build projects albeit there is still self learning needed . All in all you’re an upset gatekeeper with an ego that’s fabricating information. Go take a nap and stay off of this man’s page if you don’t have anything productive to say.
The obsession with becoming a software engineer is crazy! Software engineering is the most unsafe role in the tech industry. ai will destroy most of the software engineering jobs in a few years time. People need to grow up. Software engineering is not everything. There is life outside software engineering.
Totally hear you, my friend! It’s important to remember that tech isn’t the only path to success. AI might change things, but new opportunities always pop up. There’s so much more to life than just one role and explore what makes you happiest.
@@juiceytech I agree. All of a sudden if you can't get into tech then life is not worth living loool. This mindset is crazy!! Literally thousands of careers not relating to tech are available but these crazy people obsess themselves into thinking that its tech or nothing. Where has this mentality come from? It wasn't like this 20 years ago. Who has brainwashed these people???
