If anyone was going to sing someone the calibre of George Michael, it would be Darren, who is a world class vocalist as well as the mastermind producer - planner, organiser and cat-herder-in-chief of this whole caper. He's gotten so good at this, he can magick up a freaking Christmas album (and karaoke version), accompanying vids dropped DAILY, and the PR for it - DURING silly season! What the hell! And what a gift to us all. Astounding to realise this song is almost FORTY years old, yet it endures in popular culture. Well-crafted songs go the distance, especially when they tap into universal themes like unrequited love. The contrast in composition is clever - the melody sounds bright and happy, yet the story is a yearning ache. Once bitten, twice shy? Give it to someone special 💝🧡 remembering the phenomenally talented George Michael, lost too young on Christmas Day, 2016 ✝

Clean, unembellished, delicate, sincere. That's the kind of performance this was. In other words, perfect for the song. Darren sang every word of the lyric as if he really meant it. Even the way he looked at the camera and then turned his face away was full of melancholy and so suited this. Very moody, very memorable. I loved it.
I thought - No way. You can't mess with perfection. Wham did the "perfect" 1980's Christmas song -- it can't be.... I was wrong. Darren, guys, this was masterful. Thanks for putting your extraordinary spin on this classic. Fantastic!
