I rescued a black cat as well almost 2 years ago now. He turned out to be a She. and i won’t lie when you learn to be able to tell what gender a cat is. You will always be able to after that because male cats have some HUGE parts! i know that sounds weird but its true.
this happened to me last summer. my mum got me a cat for my birthday (another black cat) and her name was lilith. Lilith had loads of vet appointments bc we got her younger than expected and not one of them told me HE was a boy 😅 Lilith became Loki 😭😭
The person who rescued our orange tabby told us they were a boy…we found out when we took HER to get fixed that she was a girl and we’ve had an 11 yo girl named Leonard for yrs now 😂

It would be a shock for sure lol. In most cases all calico’s are female, so if you end up with a boy it would be an extremely rare case 🐈
