    I'm sure Jason West will do amazingly well, but I'm a big fan of Ditlev so gotta put Magnus in #1 and West #2 and I'm gonna bust out my dark horse into the #3 spot because I love his channel--Daniel Baekkegard! So dark horse will go to my USA dude, Kanute. For the ladies, gotta go with Taylor in #1! LCB in #2 and Haug in #3...dark horses are Paula and Kat! This is gonna be quite a year for Tri!! God bless, Megan ps. Keep on pedaling, Travis

    No surprise that Blu isn’t signed at all. He is so focused on the Olympics that he didn’t even turn up to 70.3 Bahrain in December to simply roll around and get a validation race done in his off season. He WILL race T100 in 2025 though.

    I feel ya, not a fan of the T100 name... I immediately look at the CA race possibility too and saw Alcatraz on that weekend... I'm not sure if I like that idea though, I'm more keen on a San Diego event of something warmer. I was super excited yesterday until I found out that we still cant sign up for all the races? Mainly Vegas or CA ( the ones I want to get on the schedule.

    • @thedailytri
      @thedailytri  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Vegas will be available soon! California sadly I think will be the only one this year, especially if it's Alcatraz (my guess). Otherwise, Miami / London / Singapore / Dubai / Ibiza / Grand Final will be race-able too!

    I'm wondering how this is going to turn out for the upcoming Pros, who are not on top of the leaderboard yet. They're struggling to find sponsors at the moment and to fully focus on the sport, as they always need to see how they pay their bills, while the TOP 30 earn tons of money. Isn't that going to divide the sport even more?
    What's your take on that?

    • @adamschindler4097
      @adamschindler4097 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Agree, and it seems super hard to get into the top 16, as they don't have the same access to the PTO races, that generate the most points. To be honest I am quite worried about the divide this will create.

    2:20 - what about Australia? I’m pretty disappointed that the PTO didn’t take the opportunity to leverage their new partnership wit World Triathlon to hold a T100 round in Townsville on the weekend of 24-25 August as part of the World Triathlon Long Course - multi-sport festival. Given that they did exactly that in Ibiza last year and also in 2022 and 2021 as part of their Collins Cup in Slovakia. It seemed to be a ‘no brainer’ for me as the race schedule in Townsville is vacant on both the Saturday before the long course world title race AND on Friday afternoon after the Aquathon WC race. PTO ‘twilight’ races would be both spectacular and also provide good international broadcast time slots for Europe and Asia (but not America alas).

      Agreed and I assume you mean the Middle East, but they can cough up the money which is what makes the series so big, kind of stuck between a rock and a hard place. My concern for the grand final is the location is ugly, you can’t dress mutton up as lamb, not to mention low spectator numbers. Imagine the grand final in Noosa Australia, now that’d be a spectacular.

    12:30 - I think your women’s picks are dead wrong. Knibb is the wildcard, not favourite, because she has an olympic focus until after T100 London: so she could win it all, but she’s likely to be spread too thin. Classic wildcard. Also, I really think that Annie will be focused on peaking for Nice - especially given that Lucy wont be racing, and I’d say she’s pretty vexed that she has 4 podium finishes but no wins at the IM WC and at aged 41 that will be weighing on her pretty heavily.
    The T100 series favourites really have to be drawn from those athletes who are solely focused on the T100 series - Ash Gentle and Lucy C-B foremost. In my opinion Ash will have the edge for several reasons.
    Firstly, she IS the form 100km distance specialist. Including her Collins Cup race she has done six PTO 100km races and either won or finished second in all of them.
    Secondly, she is very experienced in these year long ‘world series’ competitions, having cut her competitive teeth with a decade on the ITU WTS series. Lucy has no experience in that, and indeed has experience in acquiring serious injuries over the duration of a competitive year.
    Thirdly, although Lucy’s swim is a weapon, Ash will be well placed coming out of the water to work with other super strong cyclists who are as strong or stronger that Lucy over 80km and then she will simply outrun Lucy in most races (although one should keep in mind Lucy’s astonishing run at St George in 2021, not to mention WTS Leeds that same year). Ash was super strong on the bike in Singapore last year, and is just improving so much in that disciple with her current coach and training set up that her bike/run combination promises to be THE weapon for the duration of the series.
    So, my tips:
    1. Ash;
    2. Lucy;
    3. Annie (strong in the first half of the series, maybe even leading it on points by T100 London, but fading post Nice).
    Wildcards:
    Knibb;
    Byram;
    Duffy (if her body holds together).

    • @dbo4506
      @dbo4506 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      A money grab from a sport that has some of the worst prize money of all professional sports. Yeh sure mate. Ironman makes billions. And pays nothing to their pros. 75k contract for 6 races isn’t a money grab 😂 what planet are you on mate? If you actually loved the sport you’d want the pros to be paid. Explain to me how this is a money grab by the athletes.? I’m intrigued how you are gonna articulate such an absurd take.

    • @alansteel1409
      @alansteel1409 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Iron man is a business that bases its revenue off participation of amateur athletes so they focus their business model off that. They invest there money in putting on events catered to the people paying there bills essentially paying out prize money to them is just marketing budget and if it wasn’t for that there wouldn’t be prize money. Also billions is a massive exaggeration filling’s show total revenue of the iron man events pre pandemic as 91 million. If they were making billions like NBA or soccer. I do love the sport and like that Ironman is focus is on participation not just professionals like many sports have become. In my country rugby is the national sport is dying at an amateur and grass routes level because all the money goes to the professionals and most club teams are bankrupt.
      Is this what you want to see happen to triathlon. All money and focus goes to 20 woman and men on a basis ranking system that actively makes it hard for any new athletes to qualify for their elite league
