    I accept my bias here but I think Tennents is the best of the home market big brewers. Yes it can't hold a candle to our cousins in Germany and Bohemia but for a run of the mill pint it serves it's intended purpose.

    Until fairly recently I (a Scot) turned my nose up at Tennants, prefering continental brews. But I visited a village pub and had a pint of Tennant's. I marvelled at it. Now I'm a convinced Tennant's drinker.

    As a Glaswegian I love going back to Glasgow and drinking Tennants, it's part of the culture having a pint of Tennants.

    It's a fairly decent drink. One of the few beers that go well with food, easy to drink and light yet not weak, balanced and refreshing.

    I am Scottish and not a big fan of Tennents but thought I’d give it a go on the PD, well f me what a surprise on the PD, ended up buying a second keg after I finished the first. As it’s not too strong my 18yr old boy and his mates like it too. Also has the lowest calories than any other lager on the PD which is nice. Ok there are better lagers on the PD and some not as good but certainly nothing to compete at 4% which is a welcome addition to the PD.

    • @Martin-lp4yg
      @Martin-lp4yg 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The 5% Tennents is actually no bad...why don't they sell it more! Had it up north on tap and it went doon nae bother...lose the 4% watery crap! I met a guy years ago who worked for Tennents and said the lager was only lagered for 2 weeks...says it all!

    Delighted you have reviews this, as a Scotsman I have grew up with this beer ( it’s not great but in some traditional Scottish pubs the beer is ok on draught) would I buy a keg? No. 😊

  • @paulcuthbert

    Your opinion on Tennent's mirrors mine. I'm Irish but have lived in Scotland for years, so you kind of 'tolerate' pub Tennent's. I was pleasantly surprised with the PerfectDraft stuff though! Tastes much better, so much so that I've had it twice on my journey round all the kegs available. I also rated it 7/10! Great minds.

  • @sebrofg

    Got a real soft spot for Tennent's Lager, got it for the first time on the PD same day of the review strangely enough. I remember reading that if a pub in Glasgow didn't sell Tennent's it wouldn't last 6 months. 🍻

      The easiest way to spot a dodgy pub in Scotland is if it doesn’t sell Tennent’s

    There's a wee pub in Qawra Malta that does cans of Tennent's Pilsner 5%. I always pop in and pick some up to takeaway when i'm over there. I'm Scottish and not really a fan of Tennent's but the pilsner stuff if actually pretty nice.

    If you can find Tennents 1885(brewed for European market), its what Tennents used to be like before they watered it down for tax reasons

  • @Irishbeermonk

    Picked up a very cheap short dated keg of Tennents here in Ireland. Cannot complain, its coming to €1.77 a pint and it's perfectly fine light lager. Now I'm wishing I kept it for my Glaswiegian inlaws visiting this Christmas.

  • @Doupyourflies
    @Doupyourflies 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    You can see why the craft brewers struggle with lager when a huge brewer can create massively popular top quality premium lager like this. There's just no room in the market.

    • @JackBWakeham
      @JackBWakeham 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The 'Top Quality' part is highly debatable though, the primary reason is because people don't really understand lager or understand the little nuances between a properly brewed and conditioned lager vs something like this.
