After working on this video non-stop for like 2 days straight I finally have it done with the help from @JankoBroPro / @jankobropro . I hope many people seen this as I want to see how far the lore can extend into other maps, but also because I kind of stole the knight Writers job

This map was something I always needed from unturned, that being a story with quest that really make you feel like you're making progression with lore and secrets to boot, I really hope this is the beginning of a new age of map making in unturned
I hope too, but its important to remember that 2 years of work went into creating this map, so it may be a little bit. Odds are we may have another thing like polaris sometime, lacking a ton of lore. Then again, polaris had great missions. Regardless, the lore that Buak provided makes massive changes to the lore of other maps

Playing through Buak made me feel like I was playing a game much deeper than an unturned map. I really hope it serves as an example that Unturned shouldn't totally surrender itself to being a multi-player death match and that it can have gripping stories play out around the player.
@dewoitine4802 Exactly, my biggest gripe with other Unturned maps is that a lot of the missions generally just unlock shops and serve as a way to gain whatever currency that the map uses for its vendors, which is fine but you can tell it's built around the fact that you're supposed to be doing PVP as the engaging factor of these quest, with the quest givers not having much in the way of personality or investment.
The story is often relegated to background lore, in a static world that either doesn't change or changes very little as a result of your actions as the player, Buak's method of telling a story not only through its background lore, but also through quests and story missions with cinematic cutscenes was a breath of fresh air combined with the fact that the quests you do around the safe zone does change the dynamic a bit, allowing you to get water, food and meds for free from the storage, being able to buy and sell various things and see changes to the safe zone (The farm for example), unlocking the means to create vehicles if you haven't found a blueprint in the world, having a dedicated home with storage until you decide to build a base for yourself, and with characters who have differing personalities which invest you in their struggle
Buak certainly isn't the most well written story, with the deepest characters ever in media, but you really have a hard time finding anything like it from the rest of Unturned, I really hope this becomes a more common practice when it comes to map making in Unturned, as it already has some amazing maps, imagine if something like Arid had this stuff? Or even the base maps like Russia. Germany and Washington!

When Anthe is reading or drawing on the book, if you use free cam, she's actually smiling, which is nice!

Seeing the red eyes in the lighthouse from a distance for the first time since the original 2.2.2 update is one of the most Erie/nostalgic moments iv felt. After 8 or 9 years of playing its incredible how much has changed and how much still lingers

I like the easter egg of Zackary Zackerton being a reference to Nelson’s original roblox account DeadzoneZakZak which he developed the game Deadzone on that would later evolve into Unturned.
Also Zackary Zackerton kinda reminded me of what Nelson looks like. Idk why but I immediately thought “oh its a nelson insert”
Something to mention, at 0:22, you mention Buak likely doesn't represent a real place, yet the description says "Located on the west coast of Canada". There are loads of islands on the west coast. Of course Buak is fictional, but it could be based on possibly an IRL place. I believe that Kaien Island with the city of Prince Rupert, British Columbia might be the most likely candidate for an approximate IRL location

Played through the story today and absolutely loved it. Unturned needs more singleplayer oriented story maps. This was such a breath of fresh air. It instilled in me a feeling that can only come from playing through a beautiful story to the end. I was a bit disappointed to see hate on the steam page for the update. Some people are so deluded that they can not appreciate a brilliant single player experience.
Yeah a lot of people complain that its not pvp or raiding friendly enough, but even that I disagree with, because once you learn the map or the weapons, you can get pretty stacked, and also whats wrong with a hardcore pvp map
@@geploop The same reason why the movement update was so controversial is why most people don’t like buak. It pushes the “PvP” aspect of unturned, which is why most people play the game.
Especially the cut scenes aswell they really added a lot more life than just clicking the F key over and over just reading dialog. The events that happen make it all the more better, sorta like a mini campaign or story mode of sorts
@@a-a-ron7243 the cutscenes were pretty wild especially when you realise that they weren't actually cutscenes, but huge in-game objects that were fully animated in blender, just like any object in the game
My theory is that the anomaly on PEI isn't indeed anomaly 7 but anomaly 2 the one seen missing.
I dont think so, because the anomaly on PEI is called anomaly-7 in the wiki, and Anthe is also named anomaly-7 and the red eyes are named anomaly-7. My theory is that anomaly-2 is invisible. Reason? It would be kind of funny.
It couldn't be Anomaly-2 because Anomaly-2 has fully black eyes. There is a computer after 3rd boss that shows you a lot of personnel that was tested and their end result - either dead or becoming an Anomaly.
@@geploop I don't think it was invisible but absent. In the AN-2's description it stated that it is used in the lab from time to time due to the transportation ability.

I do hope more people will make maps with the Buak system on how the way you gotta find loot and find blueprints to craft, etc. Would like to see a remake of Russia with Buak assets or something. Since the Buak map can get boring after awhile of playing multiple times and the fact that this is the only map with a very unique system.
Yeah the system that Buak uses is peak; when implemented properly, maybe we can see a map where theres actual gameplay progression

That one hanging skeleton the Anomaly 1 is FUCKING TERRIFYING like for example when you are supposed to fix the electrical wires twice, the first time it is looking to the door, then after the second time its LOOKING AT YOU. That thing looks worse than Anthe in her scorpion form. That anomaly came straight from hell. The look of it with its rib cage split open and then weird tentacle things on the sides, with the full body not even exposed, it really does make you think like "what else did scorpion 7 do down in those labs before the whole thing with Anthe

Edit: also what's the deal with the trucks in burywood with the music blasting in them, like what even is it? The meteors could also mean something with the Dr. Mathews audio log talking about it

could us medling with the one in buak resulted in the spread of the mutations that came from buak scrp 7 ?

I’m pretty sure it was buak scientists messing around with plain science to find a cure for death which causes zombies. In Buak the soul crystal did not start zombies, but in russia, they may have messed around with it causing special zombie types

Wiki page? If you think I copied it, I can honestly say that I did not, I just played through the game, and have been doing so for 2,000 hours. Also my friend Janko has been adding to that page, about half of it being my ideas

My theory is she is haunting each of the lighthouses so she can get the player or any other survivors attention to have the player help her, before the events of buak of course

11:47 The name "Anomaly-7" has come from an emote on Steam simply labeled ":anomaly7:" and depicted of two red glowing eyes. The name Anomaly comes from the players' stories and the number 7 PROBABLY comes from Scorpion-7 - the source of it. And so, Nelson in his infinite wisdom, decided to put them both together, creating Anomaly-7.
And yes, Anomaly-7 IS Anthe. It is confirmed in the facility's computer after 3rd boss - it's the room with a few boxes inside and 2 yellow notes on top of them. Just turn on the PC and watch the lore get dumped onto you.

@@geploop Oh yeah, no problem. There's probably a lot of things that go unnoticed by many players, like for example Anomaly-1 during the second Memory when he slowly turns towards the window when we are fixing the wires. I saw him move, expected him to move closer and still got spooked. The map in general got scary for me, when I found out that Anomaly-9 is roaming around the map (confronted by 2 people, still need confirmation).
Im pretty sure i saw it moving too. Anyway nice to see others trying to find stuff

Well she hasn’t been seen in any other maps, (even the red eyes have officially stopped, PERHAPS THE RED EYES WERE OCCURRING IN 2.2.2 WHIL CANONICALLY IT WAS THE SAME TIME THAT BUAK WAS PLAYING OUT).
So basically, probably no coalition, but i think she was always good, just no more red eyes. (She had her revenge)
@mggeploop I think buak takes place in 2022 years after the outbreak. I haven't followed all the lore but I think the big question is weather the coalition still exists 6 years after the outbreak.
@@geploop im pretty sure buak takes place pretty late into the apoc, after PEI would had taken place, where the coalition likely was overwhelmed
@@catmanmliolunny @carterbush6953 From what I've seen in the lore so far I would have to deduce it taking place some couple days after Zack's regret note 05/22/2018. The reason I don't believe it's late into the apocalypses is because everything looks too fresh as if everyone died only a couple days before the player arrived. The skeletons are stripped probably because the rest of the anomalies escaped and started to murder everyone. If that's not the case then that's bad map design for not making stuff like cracked walls or overgrown buildings.

In one of the houses in a one of the towns I forgot which one you can find a bunch of tapes next to a TV on of them labeled Internecion Cube which is a Easter egg to a couple of TH-cam animations by a guy called Liam Vickers one of the cutscenes where Anthe Grim faints is literally a scene from a Internecion Cube does this mean that technically Internecion Cube is a real in unturned or just some silly Easter egg

Hey I actually need to tell someone this because I haven't found anything on it in the Washington map I had a base which I would put turrets in and they would protect my base when I would put a horse beacon but one time I put one down and it killed a zombie but had the red effect when you kill a zombie near the soul crystal
This is actually a feature in the game. If a zombie from a horde beacon isn’t killed within a certain amount of time, it will despawn with the horde beacon affect. This usually happens when a zombie is killed by something like pungee sticks or indirect damage (or as i mentioned, timed despawn). Aternatively, it could be from a server plugin

The all black schizo things and the ones with scythes. Im not sure about the syndicate, but i know for sure that the schizos arent them, and that the schizos are anomalies for buak only, possibly to do with trapped souls with the lighthouse red eyes.
I can’t tell Buak is the only map that has voice acting, but that’s just me.

it could be, i havn't read all of the scientist logs, but its odd that is has the head of little lad. on the buak map there is this music star named little lad who is killed in the first boss room shown, so little lad could have signed up for scorpion 7 testing
@@geploopyou can also see the head of the skin walker/little lad on the milk item. It references how pictures of missing people, mostly children, would be put on milk cartons with a label on the top that read “missing.” The same thing that is shown on the milk carton.

given that Buak occurs before most other events in Unturned, I would assume it could be either.
