I discovered Aisling Bea the same I discover most comedians from across the pond, via Taskmaster. Her comedy is wonderful and I wish more people knew about her!
1 Great can! (singular... "Hello i'm from..." ) 2 DIGNITY INTACT 3 mother and the pineapple... LOVE me some TM therefore love me some Bea. Thanks Mike and Thanks ALEX HORNE. for introducing me to uk comedy.
As an American, that's how I first saw her, too. I especially loved her way of bringing up issues of gender equality in some of her bits on that show. Speaking of British cultural exports, she's also fantastic as the lead guest star in a special episode of Doctor Who called "Eve of the Daleks" which is a nice self-contained sci-fi adventure that works even if you're not into that show.
Aisling is like everyone's big older sister or pal in the way that she is so conversationalist and effortlessly welcomes you in to her chat. No matter the topic you walk away feeling comforted and feeling like the world is put back to rights. Thanks Aisling! ps: The lighting for this on Aisling's face is beautifully done.
I adore Aisling Bea's work. So fun to see her on this. Birbiglia is a great interviewer, but I'll often watch these just because I like who is in them, and just be a fan uncritically enjoying whatever they say (sorry, validation-seeking comedians, that happens), but this one was *also* a really, really fantastic conversation with a lot of value even if you're someone who is (for reasons escaping understanding) not a fan of either of these two people.
So much always comes out of these conversations & youall working together on material/'working it out,' chatting & laughter, and touching serious acknowledgements...I look forward to being here in my silent 4th wall seat for when the next podcast is posted! Thanks very much❣
LOL at Aisling feeling surprise that Josh Gondelman brings joy and support. He'd be on my shortlist for "new best friend" if I were allowed to pick. (Aisling is awesome too)
Very relatable! And amazing you are! I understand your point of view- the concept of regarding people is actually a very useful concept- I don’t know where and why it became a “problem” unless .. I digress. I think I smell the fish and where it came from .. I don’t find you scabby - I think that’s called authenticity while also having self reflection enough to know what to “win” and what does not necessarily matter as much.. and also when some people have scabby noses
Love Aisling Bea! Wish her the best of luck on her prison's performance of Hamlet, and no longer being pregnant. Also assuming "Working Ot Out" is a typo and not an attempt at an Irish accent, you might want to change the title.
Mike if you make the "so much of my relationship with my father growing up was about trying to figure out the rules from what he didnt say or was determined in some smoke filled room before i was born" then you could use the church Thing as one of a few examples
We say good on ya in Australia too, it can be earnest or said with outright devastating sarcasm. Like if someone cuts you off in traffic..... Ahhhh GOOD ON YA! YA @#%*!!!!
I like the word "scabby." Is it derived from "scab" in the labor union sense? Like anti-collectivist? I completely agree. I've lived with a lot of obnoxiously "independent" people. The kind who will run up the water bill washing precisely their own dirty dishes, but no others. I have no patience for that either.
I think its kind of that they come from the same place 'scab' in the union sense comes from a person who has scabs and is disgusting and to be avoided. Scabby is also just from scabs being something disgusting
Aisling is proudly Irish. She's NOT from the UK. Huge faux pas (worse than mistaking a Canadian for an American, for example), so please amend the description.
@@frolickinglions Mate, please Google the definition of UK. United Kingdom of Great Britain is a constellation of four countries: Wale, Scotland, England and Northern Ireland

The joy with which I squealed when I saw who’s the guest this week! She’s amazing!!!
Aisling is such a treasure, such a gift to storytelling and the human experience 😊
Fastest I have ever clicked to watch a video in my life!!
She’s one of the most naturally and effortlessly entertaining humans that I have ever seen.

Can you imagine Mike Birbiglia on Taskmaster...it would be epic.

This is delightful. She casually throws those beautiful metaphors into sentences. Aisling and Mike are a great blend. 😊
I adore Aisling! First saw her as a panel guest on QI and have been hooked ever since 😊👍
Aisling is just great! And I love that she's so honest about not loving being pregnant. I have three kids and I never liked being pregnant.
Who doesn't love Aisling? What a gem of a person and such a talent!!
I love Mike and Aisling!! They are both so funny and this conversation between them was excellent! Aisling has inspired me to not be scabby anymore! 🤣

Unless you mean Republic of Ireland (or Southern Ireland), she's from the UK mate
@@ishan1920 Ireland means the Republic of Ireland. She is NOT from the UK. The Irish are proud of their identity. They are not English or from the UK.
@@frolickinglions Mate, please Google the definition of UK. United Kingdom of Great Britain is a constellation of four countries: Wale, Scotland, England and Northern Ireland
@@ishan1920Exactly! You're either embarrassing yourself or trolling: "Ireland" isn't part of the UK, Northern Ireland is.
Aisling is not from Northern Ireland.
OMG SHE'S PREGNANT 🥺
Thanks to the Algorithm God for blessing me with this video. 😊
a dingleberry joke...Haven't heard one of those since elementary school in the early 1980's. (layup........................missed)
Don’t forget the Beatles in Hamburg..
Well she is the winner, all of the rest of you should apologize.
She is so boss

3rd piece for First!
Aisling, I have some bad news: some women *can* get pregnant when already pregnant!
He's a good interviewer. Wish he would take Jimmy Kimmel's job.
So Aisling posts that she’s given birth, THEN this episode drops? I mean, cmon…
also first
I don't why she would do that to her face , she was one of the most beautiful woman I've ever seen , sad
