    Great video. Good points about things people often do not consider. Rotating mass reductions are a good way to boost performance and also reduce unsprung mass for better suspension action. Whether to use o-ring chain or not seems like it is mostly based on where you ride it.

    Thank you! I was hoping you'd swap the sprockets/chain on each bike as the rear wheel size variable make this a bit cloudy. I have two 19" rear tired sur rons, one stock, one 54. In drag races there is almost no difference. I like the larger sprocket for slower woods riding where I need a burst to get over a log or something, yet the original sprocket seems to be closely capable -- and mileage on original much better. It seems original sprocket is somehow mated the best to the motor or something. (I can hear you saying, you go ahead and do a test! But your channel is much better than mine!) Again, thanks.

    Hi. Do you think the non-ring chain can be installed on a suzuki sv650? The current O-ring chain lasted 20,000 km.

      I'm not exactly sure what an SV650 is, but if you ride on the road and in rain, then I would keep an o-ring or better yet an x-ring chain on it. Something with that much power you wouldn't notice a benefit of removing the o-rings.

    Rotating Mass towards the centre won't make much of a difference.... and how long will these aluminum sprockets last compared to steel ??

      Aluminum sprockets are used almost exclusively with motocross racing bikes producing almost 8x the power of the surron and weighing more than 2x the weight riding speeds far exceeding anything possible on the Surron. The only reason surron used heavy steel was COST. We've been running our prototype 7075 aluminum sprockets for an entire year and they show no signs of wear yet other than anodizing beginning to wear off. They are going to last a very long time on surron and the weight difference on rotating mass is well worth the upgrade especially when combined with a non-oring chain which has massive friction benefits and very noticeable power improvements as seen in our acceleration test which also translates into range improvements. Weight and friction are the enemies of power and range!

    Since the warp 9 is aluminum does that mean it’ll wear faster eventually ?

      these bikes don't have enough power to wear aluminum sprockets quickly. After a year of riding on our aluminum sprockets we cannot yet see signs of wear other than anodization wearing off. Most motocross racers racing far more powerful bikes use aluminum sprockets to reduce weight.

      We've been riding both Warp9 and our aluminum sprockets for almost a year and cannot see any visible wear. The SurRon's torque isn't quite enough to wear prematurely, even on our 12kw bikes.

    I finally found wear you got that shock linkage 😁 just ordered one And I have 9.5x3.0 shock now I need a 500lb spring

      I'm going back to 450lb spring, the 500 was too stiff, I can sell you mine if you like. We will be selling these linkages made by Warp9, just waiting for them to arrive. Yeah not too hard to find what I had used in the video :)

    You guys have some of the coolest parts on you SurRon's, looking at those risers where did you get those sweet purple ones & spacers? there not on your web site! 😉🙌

      I think you are talking about the purple handlebar stem? Unfortunately it's from a MTB brand we are not allowed to sell. In fact very few of the MTB companies want to support the Surron market and we are not allowed to sell most MTB components like stems, handlebars, suspension, etc. This is part of the reason why companies like Charged Cycle Works, EXT, and Warp9 are manufacturing more and more components specifically for this market, as the MTB companies don't want to come along for this amazing new journey. Their loss our gain!

    I would be interested in the top speed of each 54 and 60 tooth sprocket. Do you remember anything?

      We have not done any top speed testing, some day we'll get around to that...our priorities are more around overall balanced performance, being weight conscious with our builds and tire/wheel selections, range, making rideable power, etc :)

    How are you running the Marzocchi rear shock? I can’t seem to find that it is made in a 10.5 x 3.5?

      We aren't quite ready to reveal how we did it, you are correct they do not make a 10.5x3.5. These shocks are 1/2 the price of a Fox which is awesome and you can still find a few for sale in this crazy market. I can give you a hint for now, it's about the linkage. We have a few of these shocks and will be offering a package with shock + stronger triangle + linkage (by Warp9) we are just waiting for Warp9 to finish production of these linkages so that we can build these packages for you guys. Unfortunately we'll only have a few of them...hard to buy suspension right now :( We'll reveal more in a future video once the linkages are available.

      looks like the linkage is longer and the shock is shorter than stock,so they are just compensating by installing a longer(lift) linkage

      @@Evil_Morty2000 correct. We’ve been testing every configuration we can, including the Warp9 lift linkages on shorter shocks. Although the travel is slightly reduced, this Bomber functions/feels way better than the OEM Fast Ace, DNM Burner, and other shocks that come stock on SurRons. Most of our customers are looking to replace their broken/barely usable OEM rear shocks, so this is one of many options we are testing. Maybe not the best solution for everyone, but it’s a quality shock at a great price that is actually available.

      @@ChargedCycleWorks so I'm assuming the longer of the two available lift linkages is the answer(1.5 vs 0.75 lift)for marzocchi 9.5x3.0"?Looks like going to be a nice upgrade and makes it easier for people to buy if you sell all parts in one go.Do you know when your planning on putting it on your website?

      GoPro is overlaying on the video, but the unit attached to the handlebars is a Garmin Mountain Bike computer, I forget the model it's a few years old so I'm sure the model numbers have all changed.

      rear is much easier on surron and most people want to gear down (lower) which would require a smaller front sprocket which would cause problems on surron...already seems to be as small as you could physically go without introducing problems.

    Cleanning and WD40 works best on my non oring chain, all the rest just make dirt and sand stick to the chain and is abrasive ...

      Gear oil flings everywhere and is a nasty/smelly/messy viscous oil (if youve ever worked on tractors or transmissions you know). YES it will work, but is it the best option? definitely not. Ive been using spray chain wax on all my chains for over 15 years on my dirtbikes and street bikes, from my experience it lasts the longest, is extremely clean, and is relatively non toxic.
