It actually worked quite well, but a few I've tried since over the years don't work as well. I've been meaning to try one of the software ones that uses the PC audio input. Just haven't gotten around to it yet.

I just saw these on Amazon a few days ago. They run between $20 and $40 USD. This video just saved me some money. I was instantly hesitant when I saw them because here is something inherently wrong with marketing electronic devices without any kind of a case. Looking in other directions.
you need to get rid of all the background noise as possible... or you will get those "E" codes or " * "codes. Turn down the RF gain as much as possible and it will do better... not perfect.. but better, thanks for video. 73 NS9T
The radio doesn't have a RF gain. Anyway it has its own morse decoder built in. It was just a try and it works great with my FT101 as shown in other more recent vids etc. th-cam.com/video/Ibc-JvPyq0I/w-d-xo.html
I got one of these to experiment with. This one has 2 lines of text, but only 1 is used. It also has a USB C port, I'm assuming for power. It still has the 9v power connector. Next to the USB-C connector is a dip switch with one switch, and next to it, it says USB, so maybe that's for turning the USB C port power on and off? No instructions, so I'd have to try to reverse engineer the thing to try to make sure. The one potentiometer along the bottom is for tuning the frequency, but as of yet, I haven't been able to get it to 700hz. It's a bit higher frequency than that, but I haven't connected a frequency generator to see what its capabilities are.
Hi Paul. I've got a 2 x line one as well as a single line display. The two line version I have .I found it very difficult to use. To such a point I haven't made a case/enclosure for it as it doesn't work very good compared to single row. George

@@MakeDoAndMend1 I've also had trouble learning it. Never got over 5wpm requirement. Even in the Army it caused me more problems...
