  • In this video I talk about games that you should play, and games you should NOT play with your young aussiepoo puppy.
    The critical fear period for AussieDoodles, BerneDoodles, & SheepaDoodles is during 8-10 weeks of age. During this time, if they don't have a positive experience with something, they may develop a permanent fear of that thing for life.

    Sweet mini-Aussie. Frisbee fetch truly is a good workout but keep the tosses low enough so your Aussie doesn't jump too high often. Our Aussie was obsessed with leaping to where he developed osteoarthritis in his left shoulder.

    I got my cockapoo when I was 17 and I treated it exactly like he was saying not to. Now 9 years later he's still my best friend and we are inseparable but yeah he thinks we are a pack, hates all other dogs, only listens to me, and has a lot of anxiety issues and can never relax. We are getting an Aussiedoodle puppy next weekend, and I think I will be training it closer to this guy's advice.

And avoidance method - aka locked garbage can, shit bathroom doors, and human toys not on floor or within dog reach, and no dog toy that would be similar to a kids toys aka plushies. Yiur video helps me to explain all this about training the puppy without having to type out a book to someone. I just shared your link instead. Thank u for sharing ❤️

    • @hypobuddy9937
      @hypobuddy9937 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes, definitely! You don't want to wait to start training because then they may develop behaviors that aren't desirable (like pulling on the leash, barking when they want treats, etc.) and you'll have a harder time later to correct these already ingrained behaviors. Aussiedoodles are so smart anyway that you can teach them commands within no time (even at 8 or 9 weeks). I was able to teach my own Aussiedoodle commands within 2-3 training sessions.

    Hi there! Love your videos. I just recently took home my very first AussieDoodle pup (almost 9 weeks now) and I cant get her to stop biting my feet and pants. How have you trained your pups to not do this?

    • @awesomedoodle6083
      @awesomedoodle6083  7 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Chelsea Thornton keep in mind this is completely normal behavior for a puppy. Try waiting until the puppy lets go of your pants, and then click and treat. Find a time when your puppy is calm, walk around her with your pant legs available for her to bite, click and treat her when she DOES NOT bite them. Hope this helps. There are lots of good videos on here about this. Good luck!

    • @awesomedoodle6083
      @awesomedoodle6083  7 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      Puppies have a “crazy” mode a few times a day, especially a couple
      hours before bedtime. You WILL have some times where puppy is biting
      your shoelaces, eating your pant legs, biting or mouthing at your hands,
      and overall, being super annoying and uncontrollable. They run around
      like idiots, and basically act like a kid on caffeine. DO NOT attempt
      to teach your puppy any calm behaviors during this time, and don’t try
      to "correct" it for misbehaving, and whatever you do, do NOT put puppy in the crate, in attempt to “calm it down”.
      Crazy time is normal, and it’s a sign your dog needs exercise. Let
      puppy burn off some energy. It is YOUR JOB to exercise your dog. Practice rewarding calm behaviors all the time, but Crazy puppy time is not a time to attempt to calm your dog.
      Instead, do the exact opposite. Take your dog outside and encourage it
      to run. If you have two people, you could separate yourselves by about
      50 feet and teach your puppy it's name. Each person has treats. One
      person will call puppy by its name, and give pup a treat when it comes.
      The other person will then call pup by name, and puppy runs back to the
      other person. This will wear out puppy, and teach its name.Good luck during puppy crazy time. This behavior is completely normal, and
      expected. If you DON'T see this behavior at least once a day, then your
      puppy may not be feeling well.

    • @chelseathornton3872
      @chelseathornton3872 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I have no problem with dogs jumping on me, playing, etc. Training them to not do it with people that don't like it that is what I do but I love seeing my dog playing, having fun, and acting like a dog LOL and those I become good friends with love pets like I do.
    I totally disagree that you can't play tug of war and still have the sweetest dogs! My vet told me my dog was one of the sweetest dogs he has ever had and he's not a young vet. He has treated a lot of dogs through the years. I played tug of war with my dog often but I let them do the pulling so it doesn't hurt their teeth.
    Don't teach your dog to talk? LOL I taught my dogs to speak and it was never a problem because I also taught them to be quiet when I needed to LOL Can we teach humans to not talk or not talk too much? LOL
    Same with "give me paw" my dog didn't do that unless I asked her to.
    I have had dogs for 45 years and while I wish I had known more in my first years that I know now that had to do with dog health I wouldn't change a thing on their playing and having fun.
    It's okay to disagree! I think as long as people give their pets a loving caring home letting them have fun at times, keeping them safe, fed, water, warm in cold weather, cool in hot weather, NO abuse No neglecting them, that is what is the most important to me.

      If your talking about Aussie doodles, no. Since they have a parent who is a poodle they don't shed. However Australian sheapards shed two times in a year. Meaning (for my aussiedoodle) they might lose hair, but not often. And it's not individual it's in small clumps. However it depends. But overall no.

    All of the puppies you work with seem to be so calm. We do not encourage or engage in rough play but she constantly is biting at our hands and feet and growling (playfully). We can't calmly pet her like I see you do because she wants to start biting. I've watched many of your videos, my Awesomedoodle is a crazy pup.

    • @awesomedoodle6083
      @awesomedoodle6083  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      By default, puppies bite and jump and attack anything in their path. If YOU are in their path, they will attempt to treat you like a litter mate. This is how puppies learn dexterity and how to catch prey. Not to mention, to them, it feels wonderful to sink their teeth into something. This part stops when they start losing baby teeth. To help your puppy NOT bite and attack you, plus not bark or jump, one must do behavior shaping lessons several times a day to teach puppy that NOTHING fun happens unless they are being 100% calm. The biggest mistake people make with their new puppies is getting them excited by talking to them in a high voice, and accidentally reinforcing excited-ness.
