Seining Pats Cove Weir

A weir is a primitive trap built to catch herring. By design the weir has a fence which goes into the shoreline to redirect herring into the weir through the mouth. The herring then swim in a circle inside of the weir failing to make the sharp turn required to swim back out of the weir. Unfortunately I ran out of battery before the fisherman completely circled the herring and pumped them into a waiting herring carrier to take them to a sardine cannery.
