Never listened to Johnny untill my good friend joined his band and I was amazed ever since..Thank you great one and also my friend Mr. Scott Spray on BASS . Those 5 albums u recorded with the band were excellent wring I'm a Bluesman n all getting a Grammy on the Stepback album
Johnny sounds as good as ever. Blackjack is a big standout for me as a blues guitarist. Some excellent master blues-playing. My favorite is the slow blues. I know you're in blues heaven jamming with Jimi, BB, Albert, John Lee, Muddy, & Mr. Johnson. RIP Johnny
Hanging a nice all glass frame with a T Shirt in it signed by my Guitar Hero Johnny Winter ! At that exact moment he comes on WXRT singing Highway 61 revisited dumbfounded but not real surprised, these things kinda happen to me quite a bit ! Also Rest his soul Mr. Winter died on my Birthday ! Love ya man ! R.I.P.
Memories of all the years gone by and how it was long ago. I saw him and Edgar at the Michigan State Fairground for the Detroit Rock Revival in 1971. It was a day long concert 12pm/12AM. The line up was Bob Seeger, Mitch Ryder, Boz Scaggs, J. Geils, Allman Bros., and Johnny/Edgar Winter. The price for the day was FIVE DOLLARS!
+Sheree Rensel I have lived near the Michigan State Fair grounds my whole life, it's a shopping center now, but a few old fair building's remain intact. My band has played at the Stonehouse many times which is right across the street from the fair's old south entrance.
So this concert was the first time in 35 years that Johnny, Edgar & Rick played together. That last time could have been when I saw all 3 of them at the Flynn Theater in Burlington, VT some 45 years ago(?). I must have 'taken it easy' that night, as I remember a lot of it - GREAT concert!
Had the pleasure of buying your memoirs and add your rockabilly discography delta Blues song repertoire to my music home library as a novice Musicologist study music genres. God bless Sir and family.
Thank you Johnny Winter! Rock in Peace! To hell and back you will always be my biggest guitar influence! No guitar player will ever replace you. Tear them guitars up up there in Heaven and once again Thank you Johnny!
this man played with and leaned from one of the best muddy the main man watters .johnny rocked till he died ,god bless you johnny winter.he wouldnt have it any other way.
That's why I've always considered Johnny..."the King of Kings...of Blues and R&R." I truly believe he was the best Blues and R&R guitarist to walk on this Earth.
I saw him that same year at B.B. Kings. Aided by his assistant, Johnny hobbled onstage looking old and frail, sat down in his chair, had his guitar handed to him and for the next hour blew the goddamned doors off the place.
It didn't matter whether Johnny was standing or sitting...young or old...Johnny always "blew the doors off the place!" I've seen him 6 times and I know.
@@stnz908 sitting like the king bb .......tt...thh...that is . Thanks to all of our wolfs. And watters. Austin s. Pride n joy the sumlins too..list is long to long thay never missed a beat in thear seat thank you to a l l..... Our blues players all over the world for still keeping the Blues alive
There's a video somewhere on YT with Derek Trucks watching in amazement at Johnny playing slide. If Trucks is enjoying watching you play then you are officially a BADASS. RIP Johnny
Obrigado Johnny Winter por tudo que nos deu a nível do bom Blues rock nunca será esquecido mas sim lembrado como bom musico e guitarrista do Blues rock. Obrigado.
much better and more authentic guitarplaying than in Leverkusen,Germany in November 2010,especiallay 'Sugar Coated Love' and the gorgeous 'Black Jack'. And also much better than in Hondarribia,Spain in 2011.
why this music dose not get hits, 99 don't know,, well 99 don't take drugs and never did unless he caught a cold or the doc 99 you are in need,, 99 do it Johnny
Only discovered this artist recently due to a Beth Hart cd with which has Give it everything you got on it otherwise I might not have ever heard of this man.I wonder why he is not more known like Clapton or Jimi or BB or some others I could mention.WHY??
I saw Johnny a couple of times in the early seventies. Just incredible. To see him like this is so sad. What's the deal with the drummer and bass player. Making stupid faces drawing attention to themselves. Little early in the show for bass and drum solos I think. He could do with a band more sympathetic to his cause. At least johnny could still play like hell at this point. I miss him.
These manager used Johnny to get his name out there. He can't hold a candle to John Dawson winter 111..in his prime..,.j.w.in his 70s played 300gigs..this guy 45 yrs.played handful of gigs.
It’s sad to see a legend like Johnny be forced to stay out road dogging when his skills have started to erode. Watch the Woodstock footage to see JW leave everybody in the dust
Such a great performance but the recording and mixing was so bad, can hardly hear them, this could have been one for the ages but it's so compressed, no dynamic range at all, what a shame, I would gladly pay for a Blu Ray of this concert if it had decent sound. Like so many recordings, they just didn't care, getting them on video was enough, making the recording top notch was almost never possible, such a shame to lose that chance forever.
All my life a big fan, bought all his lps/cds, and seen 5 or 6 concerts in The Netherlands but on this video he sounds tired and rusty.......................its makes me sad to watch this..............
I saw this line up at the Majestic Theater. in Woonsocket R.I. sometime after this. I hate to say it but I walked out after the third tune. The band was so loud and distorted, Johnny"s guitar was completely out of tune, the drummer put on a show like some Vegas lounge lizard, and as in this video he sucked. I think at this point the band was just riding on Johnny"s fame . When he was in better health he had no peer. At least he left us with countless hours of recordings and video. Rest in piece Guitar Slinger.

This was a nice reunion. Good to see JW in good health and fine chops! The Ray Charles tune was awesome, JW is still THE man
the man, johnny winter! as usual, his band opens for him, then he rips it up. I saw him in a bar with my dad when i was 16 i think.
Thank you Johnny Winter! Rock in Peace! To hell and back you will always be my biggest guitar influence! No guitar player will ever replace you. Tear them guitars up up there in Heaven and once again Thank you Johnny!
So very sad to see and hear Johnny in this condition. I thank goodness I saw him so many times in his prime.
Saw an emaciated J.W. burn down the fox theatre in Atlanta in 1972. Two nites in a row. Miss him....

Nice to be wheeled out of the old age home for a few hours and wheel the old Dog Back just in time for a Nappy Change /

His playing sounds great to me
His playing was awesome. He was touring because he wanted to
Check out interviews with Edgar where he talks about his late brothers’ career.
alguien sabe que madera es el diapason cuerpo y mastil???????????????????
Why can't the Drummer keep his mouth shut?
the drummer looks like rick of trailer park boys
