You can tell Danny didn't connect with this guy at all. In some scenes he genuinely looks bored. David's calm demeanor and measured way of talking make him come across as almost emotionless. I bet it was tough to relate to him. Great storyteller, though.

Such a lovely man. Comes from a posh family so he didn't go through financial hardship as a child, never thought about all the addicts suffering from addiction or died from it. Sees mules as gamblers looking for a buzz. Seems to be eating well throughout the interviews. I almost dropped a tear. The only time I felt sorry for him was when his wife died. Otherwise mate, well.....
That story the taxi driver told of being hijacked reminds me of a similar story in the States, a woman was kidnapped and made to drive to the ATM, and en route, she saw a cop and rammed him to get his attention..and she was still charged with a traffic offense and made to pay for the damages.. Another time a man saw a cop down after being shot, and as he was administering first aid, he reached into the cops car to radio for help. He saved the cops life but was charged with unauthorized use of police property or some such statute.

I live Downunder so never saw this when it was a TV series but Danny Dyer by all accounts is an actor who plays 'Ard Bastards. Watching a few of this series I can see why DD cops all the flak. It may have been legal back then , but smuggling it out and probably smuggling heroin in from Afghanistan, is probably gonna get you stopped and searched.

On any journey, you pass through 2 different customs for 2 different countries, outbound and later homebound. It was likely the Aussie inbound customs guy that let him through.
