Rumor has it Dave wrote this song about model Kristy Brinkley but could just be a rumor!.. either way, great song and great reaction to my favorite band in all of creation R.I.P. EVH. ✌️💛🤘
We used to blast that album from our car stereos when I was in high school. Definitely a signature sound of the 1980's. When you're ready for more from Van Halen, check out some of these tunes -- "Ain't Talkin' 'Bout Love", "Running with the Devil", "Jamie's Cryin'", "Dance the Night Away", "Atomic Punk", "Ice Cream Man", "Everybody Wants Some!!", "Mean Street", "Jump", "Hot for Teacher", and "Panama" among many others.
GREAT song.....Everyone is on their bag here....Also, this song was co-written by Michael McDonald (wild right?) who also sings background....(Mike was a KILLER background vocalist along with being a Doobie Brother and a solo star....)
1984 was a turning point in the direction the band was headed towards. Eddie Van Halen and band engineer Don Landee recorded all the music in Eddie’s then new 5150 studio. Ted and Dave never got their hands on the recording of the music until after it was finished. The only thing left was Dave’s vocals and lyrics.
40 years 🎂 in 2024. Produced by Ted Templeman. Written by and backing vocals by Van Halen and Michael McDonald. David Lee Roth was stuck (writer's block). Templeman called 📞 Michael McDonald for help. He finished the lyrics. Ted Templeman produced The Doobie Brothers before and whole Michael McDonald joined the band. Alex van Halen on drums 🥁 and percussion. The late Eddie van Halen on lead synthesizers and guitar 🎸. In the studio 🎙, Michael Anthony played bass guitar 🎸. On tour before 1986, he played the backing synthesizers and synth bass. Afterwards, he plays bass guitar 🎸 while a synthesizer track is played.
This song is about a Calvin Klein model that Dave had pinned up on his living room wall next to his TV. He was infatuated with her, thus , I'll wait till your love comes down off that wall !!!!! Are you for real it's so hard to tell from just a magazine, yeah you just smile and the picture sells, look what that does to me. While she watches I can never be free , such good photography !!!!!!!!!!!!! Makes sense when you know the context
You’re a fukn 🤡….and no way you a true VH fan if you don’t think this shit is 🔥AF… the synth combined w/ Michael Anthony’s harmonies are the epitome of the 80’s VH sound…
RIP Eddie 🙏🏾❤️❤️💯💯💯💯
Such a huge sleeper synth classic….❤

I think David Lee Roth, vocalist, wrote lyrics about a model he liked on a magazine cover.

McDonald doesn’t add backing vocals.
@@Fakename70 Yup...my bad. It was Michael Anthony.

Heavy
Hey Just Jerkin' you gettin' jiggy wit it!
Beautiful Girls is a great one too with a nice beat and rhythm. It’s off the VH 2 album.
An absolute sonic masterpiece
Cigarettes make bad baby breath! 💨
Enjoyed this song request & reaction.
🤘🎸🤘
Mean Street.
That song is about a porn star in a magazine. Not kidding.
3 STRANGE DAYS WITH INTRO
SCHOOL OF FISH
This is the absolute worst Davis Lee Roth Van Halen song. Pop crap.
Every other song on 1984 is good or great.
