- Flying from Mactan island, next to the larger island of Cebu to Siargao island. But when I arrive I realize things aren't quite as I had hoped they would be.

So far Siargao looks very green and lush. I think it will be beautiful despite the weather ✨👌🙏
Great music selection! Full circle on meeting the guy from British/Cyprus to the Greek restaurant.
You are so good at this.
Have a great time man!
Where are You Now Eric ? Last time I watched your Video you in Vigan or ilocos ..

The tropical scenery surrounding your hotel looks amazing 🌴as seen from your airport story pulpit
Thanks Gabriel,I was over there one year ago, very good memories
Thank You Gabriel 🙂💙👍
i love your hawaiian shirt collections 🥰, welcome to my country Philippines! enjoy and take care always gabriel❤
I saw the comment in the end about Santorini and maybe it's about to erupt! Been there twice and a spectacular island to visit. I recommend Taal volcano on your next visit in the Philippines. It's a huge collapsed crater also with a lake similar to Crater Lake in Oregon and Santorini
Hi. Taal Volcano erupted in early 2020 and since then, it's been closed to tourists. You can't visit the island where the crater is. The volcano is still active (level 2 or 3) and spewing ash every few months. The island has been cleared of inhabitants (there were locals living there before). He can still visit & explore the city of Tagaytay but riding a boat to the island-crater isn't allowed anymore.
Been waiting for this Philippine series. Welcome back to the country Gab! Have fun and make sure to always bring with you your goggles.
Get a Teva sponsorship maybe? But one thing I’ll say is your advertising free videos doing cool stuff is the coolest thing..keep going Gabe!
Surigao City is my country side town. Beautiful places.❤❤❤

Hello there Gabriel, I am enjoying the Philippines videos so far😊
Maybe a food vlog? Trying the local foods?
Airport travel..confusing and stressful at times 😱 luckily I’ve never missed a flight. I actually have alot of dreams about being in an airport about to fly back home and I can’t find my freaking Gate!
@@ChrisJohnsonChannel Philippines has some of the most unorganised airports ive ever been to as well.
50 bucks for a very basic small room does not seem either cheap or back packer ish. Sorry about the rain Gabrielle
Gabe doesn't do "backpackerish"
Is he a tortoise, then?@@DeputyDog-mh1yo
@witlof5492 sorry Whittaker but the joke was above my head. Break it down
@@DeputyDog-mh1yo Ask Muskie to explain it to you.
Gabriel is no longer in his 20s, he's in his 50's, he wants more comfort now and is willing to pay for it.
Not a cheap flight or accommodation by South East Asian standards. Will be interested to see how your week pans out
He is paying a premium to visit the latest big thing in The Philippines. All of my wife's well-to-do friends are bragging about their Siargao vacation lately.
You can ask the hotel receptionist to call a taxi for you.
Yep, you can. 😊
Nice to see a different perspective. I’ve followed Eight Miles from Home on TH-cam for years. When the typhoon hit it was scary!
great music picks on your phone!!
Cool. ✌️
You seem to be a bit unlucky, with the weather. Hope it gets better
I just checked online, dry season in Siargao island is from march to july. It is the dry season in Cebu but that doesn't mean it is the same in other islands.
I guess it doesn't guarantee it doesn't rain, just not as much.
@@Steve-318 It is matter thait it is the beginning or the end of the dry season but Gabe is in the middle of the rainy season so rain expected every day.
Rain is better than snow. We definitely stay far far away from the Pilipinos food when there. Only McDonald’s for us. Thankfully they’re cheap and on every big city block in those parts. Good video, Gabriel
lol I'd heard the food is bad, but McDonald's is really the best option?
If it snows I'm definitely leaving. 😛
Nice Video 💪👍✌️🙌👌
That breakfast look 🥲
Junk food!
I'm impressed with your music taste. Stereolab is one of my all-time fave bands! Have you seen them live?
No, haven't seen them live, haven't caught many major bands live, but I've been listening to them since the '90s. Overall my music tastes are pretty stuck in the '90s and before that.
@GabrielTravelerVideos I listened to them in the 90s, too, and haven't seen them live since then. They tour now every once in a while, but they charge way too much now. Don't see as many live shows nowadays myself.
@GabrielTravelerVideos side note. Going to be spending 4 days in Brooktrails this coming weekend! My bestie lives off Peacock 🦚
Very cool, enjoy. If you want to go on a little adventure continue driving out Sherwood road a ways and then you see the real country life as it gets more wild after Brooktrails. If you go far enough it eventually meets back up with highway 101 and you could drive back to Willits that way and make it a loop.
@GabrielTravelerVideos I'll do that on my way out. Thanks for suggesting! I really enjoyed your Brooktrails and Willits video you did last. I was trying to look for Peacock, but you video'd further down the road where you lived. It's so beautiful there and a nice respite from Sacramento.
Hello Gabriel! Welcome to PH. I'm watching your India Vlogs. Will be going there soon. ❤
Yes Gabe Siargo is stunning. If you vist the Rock pools which is a must remember to go at low tide unlike Harold balder lol
one kilometer trike ride here is 10 pesos, 20 at night
Rain, rain, go away. Don't ruin Gabe's epic vacation in Siargao. There is only one solution, bro. Find a hostel and play beer pong.🍺
I loved Siargao but it also rained on me and flooded our hostel. Hate it for you. Great vid. 😊
Yummy food and lobsters 👍🏼😁 nice restaurant! Enjoy…
Have you been in waterfalls? Be safe…
You are in rainy season summer is April may June.
Rainy season is June to November!
Bohol is also beautiful!
Why Mactan for a first time traveler? There is nothing much there. You should check with Max and Harry, your fellow bloggers.

How much for ur week in island
You have to use grab in the Philippines. Id never take regular taxis there. Grabs r so much easier and cheaper. I use grab everywhere in south east asia.
Yeah I thought about getting the app but figured it wouldn't work in Siargao, so will wait until I leave here and see if I need it. Besides there are so many tricycles and rickshaws around here that you don't have to wait for long.
@GabrielTravelerVideos yeah it only works in manila and cebu in the Philippines. But in thailand, Malaysia and bali it works everywhere. In bangkok i never use the metered taxis anymore just grab.
Yes me as well. Use grab all over South East Asia. Almost always cheaper and more convenient. Also know the cost before the ride and no taxi scams or hassles.
@dennisspackman7147 also in places like thailand you dont have to explain where you want to go.
nice shirt
Gabriel you should go to a hippy commune or something interesting/different

Do you get preventative shots ie; malaria vaccine, etc, when traveling?
There's no malaria in PH (that type of mosquito doesn't live there) but there's dengue fever, also brought by mosquito. Malaria is present in Myanmar, Thailand and some parts of mainland SE Asia & South Asia.
Not first. Siargao LFG! 😅🤙
You may run into British vlogers Eight Mile From Home who have been living nearby for many years.
Viewing this on Saturday the 8th of February at 16:03.
Pity you are encountering so much rain during a season reputed to be dry!
1) You like your eggs over easy. I like mine hard cooked in the way through.
2) When you film your musical selections, would you mind doing so less blurrily? Sometimes it is hard to see what you are listening to.
Led Zep is one of the best bands ever to have graced the airwaves! Bonzo was the best drummer ever to have hit the skins! He inspired me to want to learn how to do likewise. When the band received The Kennedy Center Honour, I was chuffed beyone all belief! And, Jimmy Page and John Paul Jones loved Kid Rock's tribute to the band, as well.
3) When I sit down to eat, or dink, I do not like being interrupted, especially by complete strangers! Good for you, being gracious about being interrupted! I suppose that comes with the territory being who you are, and doing what you do for a living. Also, you have great fame, so, you are bound to be recognised.
4) 23:46 BRING ON THE LECHON! I love crispy friend pork and skins! The fried rice that you are, had chunks of garlic in it, I hope!
5) The lime-green glow in the moto-cab (looked like a tuk--tuk too) going back to your hotel, after dinner looked really cool!
Hey man fyi.....if your doing an international flight out of manila fly Philippines airlines and you will not have to go to the dreaded terminal 3 nightmare. Philippines airlines international terminal is right next to the manila domestic terminal. It's so much easier n less stress . I think there's a few a day to bkk and kl 🤙🏼
Do you do any research?
Yes, of course, none of this would be happening otherwise as far as choosing where to go, flights, accommodation, rental cars, how to get around the country, weather, visas and entry requirements, facts and history to share in the videos, etc. I don't do huge amounts of research because I don't want to spend more time on the computer than I already do, and I don't mind a certain amount of surprises in the course of traveling, sometimes good sometimes not so good. But I make sure to do the essential research to hopefully avoid disaster and headaches and to find some of the best places in the world. As I mentioned in the video I'd checked the weather for Siargao, it was showing rain but it's the tropics so it's unpredictable. Luckily things have worked out as you'll see in the next few videos.
I would just jump islands tbh. It could be rain for the next two weeks if you’re unlucky :(
Siargao amazing island

Hi Gabriel, the Philippines is such an interesting country. It was influenced by two different empires, one recent and one older, but you see it. Spain on one side and America on the other-even today, America uses the Philippines for call center support, much like India. Most Filipinos are Catholic Christians, over eighty percent of the population.
Aren't you supposed to be in Spain? What happened? 🤔
@@DeputyDog-mh1yo I love your comments, deputy...
@@wilfredotorres6628 In your comments we find truth. 👍 So why are you not in España? 🤔
Clearly you don`t know anything other than repeating what you have read.
@derekwatson7037 thanks 👍
heavy adventure
When I leave my hotel back to the U.S. I reserve a taxi from the hotel, the day before I leave.
Same here, especially if I need a ride earlier in the morning and it's a longer drive to the airport. In this case I knew it would be easy to get a ride one way or another.
Get a poncho, you’ll be fine, South East Asia is always wet, it’s supposed to be 😂. But heck, otherwise let’s hot for it over to Jasilmire in Rajasthan before it gets too hot 😊, but I’m honestly very interested to see this island in the Philippines, let’s keep going ❤
😊💙😊💙😊
Yeah prices do not seem super cheap there. Probably because of all the American influence with all the bases there.
There are no US bases on Siargao
Sarah, the United States of America military is not present on that island. Not sure what you're talking about.
@@DeputyDog-mh1yo I think Sarah just says whatever is on her mind, regardless of it's factual or not.

Drinking Civet coffee??😏
You could always pay for 6 to 8 lobsters then go set them free! That would make a kick ass video.
I did that once with a bird from a pet shop.
Lol, I can relate to the weather situation, I am here in Da Nang, Vietnam for a month and it's been raining nonstop 24/7 for the last week and forecast is more rain all through next two weeks, it's supposed to be the dry season here too, oh well.. due to climate change historical weather patterns are getting less accurate
Damn! Lucked out and it was a nice sunny day here today at least.
Gabriel, you are wrong! Rainy season in this country is from end of November up to end of March. Dry season starts in April up to July.
Nope , June to October is rainy season. November to March is “high season” for tourists. The reason they come during that time is they are avoiding rainy season and super hot season
Here's what I find when I search for it:
"The rainy season in the Philippines is from June to November. The rainy season is characterized by heavy rains, monsoons, and typhoons."
However there seems to be different rainy seasons for different groups of islands within the Philippines.
You're so wrong lol
@@GabrielTravelerVideosGabe, go to Baguio city from Manila if you want to hike. From there, you can hike Mt Ulap which is an easy day hike. (I suggest to do it on a weekday bcos hike gros from Manila come during weekends. You'll need a guide - you can get one at the barangay/ village hall when you register.)
You can also go to Sagada (tourist town, explore some caves), Banaue & Battad for rice terraces. The redhead UK guy - you were with him in India, Jason(?) - he did a hike in the rice terraces when he was still a bit new to blogging. I think you will like the mountains (Cordillera mountain range) in the northern region of PH.
