One of the first things that I realised when I returned to Christianity was that I am NOT special. That the "being special" thing is an ego trap. Christianity is a peculiar religion. We believe in God who can do everything, and yet he chooses to diminish himself and become a human. Not only that, instead of becoming a prince or another distinguished person, he chooses to be born a homeless foreigner in a shed, amongst animals. To a woman who got pregnant before marriage, and to a carpenter willing to take care of a child that is not his. And then my God grows up to become a man who's lonely, often misunderstood by those closest to him. A man who gets down on his knees to wash the feet of his disciples. A man who angers the righteous by telling them to examine their own sins before condemning a prostitute. And eventually gives his life for people who would still struggle to comprehend his teachings even 2000 years later. As a Christian, I am not called to be special in anything apart from compassion. Anyone who uses Christianity to feel prideful or self-righteous, is either misguided or a hypocrite.
That made my day bless you for that , how people get the notion they are so incandescent in a world that loves and adheres to darkness. The scripture is indefatigably clear we are fallen broken and utterly incapable of living in this world decently but it's actually okay because there nothing we can do or not do all that matters is what he's done
@frusia123 yeah we must realize we are of god not separate. Christ It is something we find inside he is not coming down to save us the we are god having a human experience
Respect. Jesus talked to us in parables. And some take these things literally. He said "Ye are all Gods and all of you are children of the most high". I think Christ was to Jesus what Buddha was to Siddharta, personally: a state of mind available to all (although seemingly somewhat difficult to maintain, it appears...). The substance of Christianity suffered a mortal blow when it became suborned as the "state religion" of Rome and the subsequent "Church/s" are mere leftovers of an imperial, feudal bureaucracy, genuflecting to Caesar and thinking it's God...The so called "Gnostic gospels" are a true revelation...just why were they suppressed?
At 58 minutes Scott, you beat me to it. I too thought immediately of that Biblical phrase, I come not to bring peace, but a sword. And then my mind went to a phrase I coined, about my abusive father: Not all love is worth having. Because yes, my father loved me, and he was also very abusive. These sky-father cults all remind me of an abusive relationship like that.
Wow, we I was raised in this cult in New Brunswick continued in the cult in Grand Prairie Alberta. Rejected it during the pandemic and I'm living my best life going into 40 years old.
I was in this cult for 28 years, from the age of 16 until 44. If people want to find out more about this cult, the youtube channel called Leaving the Message is a great place to learn more.
Breanna is a very engaging speaker, I could have listened to her for another hour! So many stories... Hearing about her mother crying at the make-over made my heart ache. I'm incredibly proud of her for breaking free of her chains.
I grew up in this junk. i ended up having a couple phd chemists as friends; they were kind to me despite my fanaticism and i would just ask them questions until i realized how easy things flow from first principles. Couldn't go back when real answers actually made me feel safe. I got lucky. It's just sad all the folks stuck in evangelical cults.
If you have friends caught up in this sort of stuff just remember to be kind to them, don't lie to them but be kind; you might plant a seed that changes somebody's life for the better.
I knew a Branhamite in Vernon BC years ago. I spent enough time to learn about this movement, and then we parted company. And I thought I was doing ok until I joined a church in Calgary Canada and realized I had unwittingly stumbled into a similar cultic charismatic church. The more I researched, the deeper I dug, the more I realized there was no bottom. For example, they story of the Tower of Babel teaches us that humanity could reach a place of having one mind, which was proof that we could achieve this again, but this time we would get it right...
That's so not true, nor fair, to all the good people who are just at a lower level of spiritual growth. We are not all at the same place in our spiritual growth @@DutchmanAmsterdam

Nice to see that she's enjoying life. When I was a teenager, there was a trip to go and see Billy Graham in a UK football stadium. We were briefed beforehand, that he would call for people to step forward, so they could become Christians. We were told to get out of our seats and move forward, as it would encourage the non-believers,. When he did that. I was one of the few that didn't move😂 It was a strange feeling, seeing tens of thousands moving towards the preacher. I can see how effective it was. As soon as I left home, that was the end of church for me, I regret not going against my parents at an earlier age. A lot of my childhood was in evangelical churches, not as bad as a cult, but still an experience that I wish I didn't have to go through.
He was a Mason and generational deceiver. Family members are transversed, just like the rest of them on the world stage. Take a look at them and many evangelists on the teLIEvision. Human anatomy. Bones do not lie. Eyes to see. 👀

I learned about Branham from the channel Leaving the Message. Has a detailed website resource too. I was aware of key names before and after him but until a year or so ago I had not heard of him or The Message/ Voice of God family of churches /cults that came from Branham. One of those was the Kenyan cult that got members to starve themselves to death. Over 300 bodies found by time got investigated in June 2023.
@@helenr4300 I wanted to know about why so many so-called Christians believe so many heretical teachings, where did it all begin? So, during one interview on the channel, Long For Truth, John Collins was the guest. Oh wow! I went to his channel, Leaving the Message, and subscribed. Such horrific things have been grafted into the Pentecostal churches and now the NAR. William Branham wasn’t the beginning of all this heresy, the seeds were sown in the Garden of Eden by the father of lies, Satan.
I personally know lots of people here in Magaland who think the end times are near and would do anything they could to bring on the apocolypse. Half the people in this town would rush into a cult like that.

Wow, this was fascinating to listen to. I’ve grew up in similar, yet also wildly different cults and home/family system. We left one very much like the Branham group for less extreme one. I went to school with a few from the Branham church, so I’m familiar with it and wow… I buried all of the details that Breanna described, but as she was describing things I found myself nodding and saying “yes, I remember that!” I’ve completely unpacked and deconstructed from the very roots of this. I too desire to help others coming out of these cults and have wondered and doubted if my journey and story would resonate with, much less help anyone. So, Scott or Breanna, I’d love to chat. Thank you both for this terrific episode!
Me and my wife often say we wish we had the blind faith of being in a religion. The world would be a lot easier to navigate if you whole heartedly believed God was protecting you and you had nothing to worry about 😅
Brianna- As you told the story of your Mom stepping I to her first pair of jeans, I was bawling, too!! I understand. Until New Year's Day in 2020 I had spent my life in multiple, serial Cults of One ( raised by and married to Narcissists). Thanks for a great chat, Guys❤
It is important to remember that not all religions have an apocalyptic view and not all countries have these cults. I live in Europe now and have people that have no idea what a bible is. So refreshing!
Europe has many cults . They may be cults of a different flavor - but be sure , they are there ! Thinking they aren’t there makes one vulnerable to being caught up in a cult for sure !
Ugh 19 seconds in and I’m hearing about the 144,000 and having flashbacks to 1989 and my experience with an end times minister. Your first question in the intro “are they trying to engineer” it has been my question for the last 9 years. Yes, we’ve seen hints of it before now. We see also hints of the race war that Charlie Manson was trying to start. I’m sure these things run through cults all throughout history. God said we won’t know when it’s coming. That’s one thing people keep forgetting.
I know some Christians that are always talking about signs that the end is about to happen. I remind them that they don't know, but it doesn't stop them talking about it. I've been hearing it since I was a kid in the 1970s😂
We Christians are not in darkness so we know the Season also Jesus said that the generation who saw israel back in the land would also see the signs of the end
@@ligyasouza755 You believe you aren't in darkness, but so did Christians in the 1970s, that were in complete darkness, making predictions that failed to come true. I'm sure that applies to people hundreds of years ago too, but I wasn't around to see that with my own eyes. Look at the Wikipedia list of dates predicted for apocalyptic events, around two thousand years of mostly religious people getting it wrong.
@sharpvidtube when Isrsel got back to the land the counting started. This is biblical. We are not to put dates but the Bible says we are not in darkness and we can know the Season.Every real Christian knows the season and its here. Before 1948 we couldnt even start to look for the season but we are now the generstion who saw Isrsel.back.in the Land
“the sword “ is also spoke about in Ephesians 6:17 ….. starting on verse 10 in chapter 6 of Ephesians is the explanation of the Amour of God. Verse 17 says “… the sword of the spirit, which is the word of God.” The sword = the word of God. This is how we defend ourselves against the evils of this world.
That’s one interpretation. The full quote in Matthew is: “Do not suppose that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I did not come to bring peace, but a sword.” This was a highly influential passage during the crusades.
It’s a really heady thing being raised in the evangelical cults. I was raised to believe I was among the very, very few chosen ones on this planet. I questioned it from a very early age but did not escape until my mid thirties.
Me and another girl got detention once when we "talked" with our eyes to each other when the teacher was talking about this holy spirit filled Bible lol 😂 I got expelled from that weird school.
It was really interesting to hear her story. Thanks for sharing it with us. I wonder how/where you draw the line, between extreme religion and cult. Her story is very similar to stories I learned of, in the ultra orthodox Jewish communities, as well as some Amish and Mormon communities. Very interesting subject, keep up the good work.

Will definitely need to check out that blog! Also would like to hear more about men in cults. It always feels like it's women who are the ones coming forward (perhaps because they're the ones who were oppressed the most). For example, how did the ex-husband feel about being excommunicated.
@@BewareTheLilyOfTheValley Mitch Brisker wrote a book about how he was recruited into Scientology as a drug addicted teen in the 60s and ended up escaping a few years ago.

I didn't get the connection from William Branham to David Koresh at Minute 4:33 . Except that both were cult leaders. Could you or someone explain that?
The church today for which you glean your observations from is nothing more than the religious from who Jesus called out in his time. There is a Holy Spirit. He is not presented well in the examples of the vast majority of today. The path is very narrow and is getting more difficult to find in today’s overwhelming Information Age, which is competing for your mind ,body and soul 24/7. There are pockets of congregations where Christianity well represented. Most certainly not your mega size how be it there can be small numbers wandering and looking for a place to grow. Those who walk within know this to be true. The rest is just a spectrum of nonbeliever babble and covert pagan ideology. Seek and you will find. Let others seek for you and you will be blind.
Yes, the term “Christian” is nothing more than an empty label, and when loosely applied the way it has become, is very misleading and dangerous. It’s my strong conviction that VAST numbers of people who “identify” as Christians, are in fact, not. The Church, writ large, is a SPIRITUAL body that does not conform to any given (small-c) church affiliation or attendance. It’s purely a Salvational relationship with Christ, made personally and individually. What we have going on now, which is increasingly institutional and political, is horrific, and is foundationally opposed to true Christianity.
This is so current!! But what 2025 is projecting is the culture of Evangelicals, a la Focus on the Family, etc. I was in that what we considered christianity

I was in a cult and even though it was awful that she had to read that manual in front of the pastor it was nice he said to the guy to make sure your wife is comfortable and okay. With me it was like he's getting his whether your comfortable or not. Because he's a man and men need their desires met. So, yea. A lot of that goes around in the South whether you're in a cult or not.
The message cult was and is terrible . All cults will never compare or come even close to the teachings of Jesus Christ. He is the Savior of mankind for all those who believe and put their trust in Him. William branham was a wacco. Jesus actually warned his followers about all this false teachers. No man , no organization, no opinions above truth. Christ is the only truth and hope for forgiveness of sins and eternal life.

The BITE model works well for spotting a cult. It's all about control- Behavioral control Information control Thought control Emotional control While not definitive it provides a structure with which to ascertain.
Hold on here. She's saying there's a link between all these characters to this one William Brennen person, and that the movement derives from an initial cult of 150 evangelicals from the early 19th century?
William Marrion Branham who was a Pastor, after WW2, who claimed to be a Prophet. She was in an EXTREMIST SECT, known as charismatic. The Bible says, "But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed." Therfore, that should have been their first clue to FLEE. The one thing he had right, the ONLY UNFORGIVABLE SIN is UNBELIEF‼️ But I feel I should specify unbelief in what. There's so MUCH proof for the Lord's existence at this point that it's hardly faith anymore. Noah's ark has been found, Sodom and Gommarh has been proven and found along with many other archeological items it's ridiculous at this point. Anyway it's takes more faith NOT to believe. Also creation testifies to the existence to God's existence & so does the way you are created. There will be NO excuse when you stand before a Holy God to give an account for the way you live your life. You can stand b4 him in your own righteousness, as a sinner, because to violate 1 of the ten commandments is to violate them all. For ALL have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. & we all need a Savior. While we were yet sinners Christ died for us. He who knew NO sin BECAME sin for us so that we might be the righteous of God. Jesus died for your sins according to the scriptures and that he was buried and rose the third day according to the scriptures and ALL you must do is believe on Jesus to be saved 🙏. It's true, JESUS CHRIST is COMING any moment. For TRUE Christians, this is NOT terrifying, it's exciting & we long for this day. It's not doomsday. It's a glorious day a day that we are reunited with those who died in Christ & we get to see the one who loved us enough to die for us to save us from death & Hell. I pray 🙏 when we disappear 🙏 you remember this comment & you call upon Jesus 🙏.
I'm so glad you found the freedom you wanted but to the degree you never knew you needed. I can't help but experience you as having intense anger. Anger which keeps you in a black and white state of mind which encompasses your political, religious, and social states of mind, to name a few. For example, your comments toward Donald Trump insinuating that all of his supporters are aligned with project 2025. That's a fallacy. Are ppl who support project 2025, in support of DT, quite possibly but not all who support DT believe in or even know of project 2025. I've survived an occult and it took me a few years, even in smaller amounts today, to what parts were true and what parts were taken to the extreme. I can believe in the Bible and it's writing and be absent of any adult-related activities. I'm curious if you have "thrown the baby out with the bathwater" so to speak? Plz don't misconstrue this question as an accusation as I don't know much of your story other than what I have heard today and my heart breaks that you went through all this. Sounds like there were some good things, not all of it was bad? Am I understanding that correctly? Regardless, I'm glad your speaking out and helping others.
He discerned the secrets of the heart? FAT CHANCE. Jeremiah 17:9-10 Complete Jewish Bible 9 “The heart is more deceitful than anything else and mortally sick. Who can fathom it? 10 I, Adonai, search the heart; I test inner motivations; in order to give to everyone what his actions and conduct deserve.” ponder that
Thats the late William branham. He was considered a prophet of Malachi chapter 4. The Elijah. After his death many still visit his grave and waiting for his ressurection. The Kansas city prophet's were associated with him. He still reverted by benny hinn and others.
I converted to Branhamism at 18 and spent 15 years in the cult. I can tell there wasn't enough time to cover all the doctrines he taught because right off the bat you mention fear of an eternity in hell - one of the reasons he was considered a heretic by his contemporaries was a number of doctrines he taught that included that there isn't an eternal hell. His teaching was that at a certain point in time god would cast hell into the lake of fire, which would end the suffering of everyone who had been sent there and they would cease to exist. However, that being said, since there isn't a central denominational headquarters (also a consequence of his teachings), there are a lot of variety of doctrines taught by various churches worldwide. I believe that's why there's such a number of 'eighth messenger' prophets that have followed him by saying they're his successor.

I mean it does sound like a cult she was in and that's a shame, but I'm a pentecostal evangelical Christian and nothing of my church is like that... we are heavily Bible focused, we don't put men before God, and we believe everyone can be saved and are encouraged to reach out to people. We also are humble and don't pretend we're better than anyone else... So yeah sucks for her but that's not evangelicals in general...
I wish she would give her husband a name, pseudonym. He wasn't an ex husband on their honeymoon. I'm wondering how long the end times can be any five minutes? 2000 years seems excessive to me.
There will be no end, to people saying we are in the end times. I've been hearing it all my life, when I say I heard that decades ago, people tell me that this time its for real, but that means they had no idea in the 1970s, despite being so sure of it. They've all forgotten what is stated in the bible too, but they ignore that.

I visited them a number of times in my city. The dress code and general culture (conservative) is similar to the religion I grew up in.

“… the sword of the spirit, which is the word of God.” The sword = the word of God. This is how we defend ourselves against the evils of this world.

👍
Yes, the term “Christian” is nothing more than an empty label, and when loosely applied the way it has become, is very misleading and dangerous. It’s my strong conviction that VAST numbers of people who “identify” as Christians, are in fact, not. The Church, writ large, is a SPIRITUAL body that does not conform to any given (small-c) church affiliation or attendance. It’s purely a Salvational relationship with Christ, made personally and individually.
What we have going on now, which is increasingly institutional and political, is horrific, and is foundationally opposed to true Christianity.

What we need are million acre national parks in every state east of Colorado that have ltttle public land. The U.S. easily can acquire the land to make massive national parks in every state east of Colorado. New York should have a massive national park in its mountains but for some reason has none. A state full of environmentalists and yet it has no national park that’s massive. It’s jaw dropping when I googled it and found New York has no massive protected land in the form of national parks. I will say environmentalism has become a cult as the original environmentalists decades ago promoted minimalism and consuming less. True environmentalists are totally at odds with Apple pushing new phones every year and planned obsolescence slowing down existing phones to get new sales.

William Marrion Branham who was a Pastor, after WW2, who claimed to be a Prophet. She was in an EXTREMIST SECT, known as charismatic. Therfore, that should have been their first clue to FLEE.
