Aw Mia! I was a tisch student too and I remember how complicated the study abroad process was. I’d recommend taking the parts about study abroad you were most excited about and finding a way to incorporate it where you can - maybe you could find a way to rent a 35mm camera and teach yourself how to use one over the course of the semester, or find a way to travel in another way! it’ll all work out I promise 💕
Sometimes the bumps in the road are blessings in disguise. Exited to see what is next for you either way. Hope you will too. Push through girl, the other side will be worth it no matter what. (Eg. A few years back i lost a job i liked, and didn’t get another that looked great. But had i stayed or gotten it i would discovered where i work now and thrive in it. And on paper i would not have guessed that the experience would be this good.)
I can relate to this a lot. I am currently in my first year of community college and it's so hard seeing all my friends at 4 year universities get opportunities I wish I had. I'm also a planner and and my 4 year college plan has blown up in my face so many times, most recently when the the school I was planning on transferring to got rid of my major and minor so I really had to start from scratch. It hurts a lot but at the end of the day, I'm doing what's best for me.
I am in the exact same position haha! I'm a sophomore at a small college in maryland and was planning on studying abroad spring semester of my junior year, but just found out that I got into a super competitive writing course for this coming fall, which long story short, would require me to be on campus during the spring semester as well. I'm definitely a planner too... I like having all four years of college planned out and whenever a little blip in my planned-out schedule comes along, it's hard to move past it. Everyone goes through ups and downs, just keep moving forward and it will all work out in the end
Aww Mia, thank you for being so transparent and real. You are a role model to so many of your viewers. I truly believe things happen for a reason. It may not be apparent now, but it will become clear in your future. You have so much going for you, and you will have much success. The road to get there just may be a little different than planned.
I went to NYU, and l was likewise unable to get into my first choice program for study abroad: Shanghai. I ended up doing a summer abroad in Paris, and I loved it. Met so many of my now closest friends there. You never know what will happen. You should give the summer abroad a go 😊.
