    Guys, mom of three speaking here. With my first and second babies I used an electric pump and it not only hurted my nipples but also the output was not great and it was quite inconvenient, as I needed to stay at home to pump. Then with my third I found out the wonders of the manual pump!! My output is so much more when I manually pump that I'm donating milk to a hospital. You can have the chance to massage the breast while you pump, which is not possible with an electric pump. Also the manual pump doesn't hurt AT ALL. With the added advantage you can literally pump everywhere! I pump in the car, in restrooms when Im out, everywhere! It's light weight and convenient. I tried only the Medela and Lansisoh pumps and both are great, but I prefer the Lansinoh as the suction is a bit stronger, in my opinion. Happy pumping for all of you and keep in mind that pumping does get A LOT easier with time. No more clogged ducts, engorgement or mastitis after you pass the initial stages of breastfeeding. You can even sleep through the night without pumping!

      from what i know, u need to measure ur nipple (before pumping) using the nipple ruler (u can get free printout online) or just purchase one. after measuring from the nipple base (do not include aerola) add another 4mm to the measurement. So example if nipple measurement is 17mm, you add another 4mm and your flange size is 21mm. Hope it helps u :).

    I have the lansinoh one and my valve falls off almost every time I use it! It’s so frustrating because then it’s wet and I have to put my hand in the milk and it won’t stay on especially once it’s wet

      Ah so sorry to hear this. This usually means your valve is worn down or not good & you need a new valve. That should def fix the problem! Hope this helps!

    I bought Avent, and because the flange size is not changeable, even if you buy seperate inserts from Amazon, it used to hurt me so much, for me Madela harmony worked the best, gentle and got the best output.

    I never had a manual pump with my first baby. This time, with my second I'm going to give one a try! I've also heard some women get more output with a manual vs an electric pump. I'm due in September, and decided on the Medela hand pump. Can't wait to try it out once the baby is here. Thanks for another great review!

    Nice introduction, but you made a big mistake. No need to remove the handle when changing the phase of the Lansinoh pump. It can be changed very smoothly by pressing the right place with your finger.

      @@sitiaisyah8642 It’s super frustrating that that’s how I was told to measure my nipples so since I am a 17 mm I got the 21 mm phalange. It’s too big! I thinking a 19 mm would make more sense but it’s so hard to find 19 mm flanges

    • @macklikescheese

      Adding 4mm is outdated information. At most you should add 2mm. If you are getting a Lacteck (or other silicone) flange, you actually want to choose your exact measurements, though I personally found that I get better output with a smaller mm lacteck flange. I measure at a 17 and an 18mm (your nipples can be different sizes) but I get the best output with my 15mm lacteck flanges than my 18mm. Maymom makes many different sized flanges that fit many different pumps, so check them out if you need a different size than what comes standard. Which most people need a different size, so why those 24-28mm flanges are standard, who knows 🤷🏻

      I personally loved the Avent Hand Pump but since their flange only comes in 1 size & may not fit all women, I would recommend the Medela Harmony because it gives you many flange options! (and it's the quietest of all 3 pumps)

    I don’t know which one to get. Medela or lansinoh. I have large nipples (minimum 24mm) and I’m scared to make a mistake. I got an electric one but with the wrong size phalange which cracked my nipples. So I suffered for the first 2 weeks postnatally. The pain made me so depressed. Do u think I should go for the lansinoh to be safe ?

    • @isabelfaith
      @isabelfaith  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I'm so sorry to hear this! I did the same thing with the wrong sized flange and it is SOO painful. Both the Medela & Lansinoh have a lot of larger sizes for their flanges. Medelas standard flange is 24mm but they carry larger sizes like the 27mm, 30mm & 36mm & the Lansinohs standard I believe is a 25mm but they have larger sizes in a 28mm, 30.5mm & 36mm. I hope this helps you!!
