    So far so good, I might replace the nut and I need to figure out the tremolo. I might just make it a hard tail. $217 of a hell of a deal though. Please like, subscribe, share, comment etc. www.thomann.de...

    As far as comparing one guitar to another every guitar sounds and play a little different, no matter what brand. There are so many things that can affect that. As far as having to do work on Fenders and Gibsons and Epis every one I have bought I have had to do some work on to meet my style. Nuts, bridges, pickups and so on. Its all in the setup. Bridge height and adjustments, nut adjustments cut and so on, Neck relief, Pickup height means a lot also. For the money having an axe that simply may need some adjustments, so what. Its well worth it

      Wilkinson pickups are way better than Roswell, I have the CST24 Paradise Flame, bought
      in the first 3 months the company started to sell guitars. It's so much better than the new CST24 with Roswell pickups. The new ones have frets that are too high, and a composite
      mixture for the fretboard which is awful. The original ones are so much better. I replaced the pots with CTS 500K and orange drop caps and it plays like a dream

    Great video. Retired now and looking for something on a budget to occupy my time, I ordered the Harley Benton CST-24T in Black Cherry Flame from Thomann ($211 US, currently) a couple of weeks ago. Your demo makes me think I made a good purchase for my first electric guitar. Unfortunately, the Black Cherry Flames were out of stock at the time, but they're making some new ones in Vietnam as I post this. Looking forward to sometime early March for delivery. Pairing it with the also budget-minded Peavey Vypyr VIP 1 for the versatile tone possibilities and the option of adding a budget bass and acoustic later on for some DAW jollies. This will be a purely low-key bedroom rig.

    As an entry level guitar you simply can’t beat HB, looks, value for money, playability. When I first started the action on some guitars was so high lol put me off for a bit. TBH there is way too much snobbery around guitars. Many on low incomes should start off with an HB or perhaps a Squire, if you go on to be a good player and earning a living from playing, buy something better, till then stick with the cheaper options. Otherwise buying a PRS or other brand name will just sit in the corner till you give it away to another family member.

    • @Mark-OutWest
      @Mark-OutWest 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Why is that you think purchasing a PRS as an entry level guitar somehow impacts whether or not the purchaser will become a guitar player? Why does this person have a better level of success by purchasing a more inexpensive guitar? I say you purchase the guitar that excites you to help in motivation to wanting to pick it up all the time and play it. Either way if you don't make the cut you sell the guitar. I think you'll see a better return on a quality instrument when selling.

      Mark it's the player, not the guitar... A good player sounds killer trough cheap gear, and a bad player sounds like shit trough a setup costing 5k...

    • @FloridaManRacer
      @FloridaManRacer 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@Mark-OutWest From personal experience, my first acoustic was a martin. I NEVER played it. Not because I couldn't learn on it, I was scared to hurt it because of the price tag. It's like a motorcycle rider buying their first bike. Buy a used one for cheap. You WILL fall off and scrape it up. You buy the nice bike after you've crashed and burned a few times and get comfortable... I recommend the same thing with guitar. The cheap price tag will make you less timid about trying new things.

    I got one. I am so impress with it. I got rid of the not staying in tune problem by switching my strings from 9 to 10 and replaced the tuners with some affordable locking tuners. I have an LP Standard and a Telecaster. I have been playing with the HB for weeks now. It so light and I feel that it is a great all purpose guitar.

  • @UmVtCg

    You need to push the trem down, underneath is a screw which kan be tightend with an allan wrench. This will tighten the trem arm.

    Wow! You got really lucky, that HB has a beautiful top, looks perfectly matched across both sides too. I have the same color guitar but with the wraparound bridge, the top on mine is a little rinky dink looking, but I still love it.

  • @leodanryan966
    @leodanryan966 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    The trem bar has to be tightened up underneath the bridge where the hole is. It takes an Allen key and most people are unaware of it because we just figure we already know how to tighten up a tremolo right? The nut is graphite. Not saying you can't have issues. Just stating the facts as I own that same guitar and I gave one away on my channel and I know because the question came up. Funny, I also just purchased the same PRS custom 24SE in Whale Blue and it will be arriving tomorrow. Lol
    From a listening standpoint, I found little difference between the two guitars, the Harley Benton CST-24 to me has a more mellow tone. The PRS is brighter. But a very similar sound from both. From a playing standpoint I have only experienced the Benton.

    • @sebsefyu

      It makes sense actually. Trem pulls strings and since there is NO LOCKING tuners it pulls on tuners gears and therefore guitar gets de-tunned.

    I also own a PRS se and 2 harley bentons the CRT24t (trem model) and the crt24 hard tail , and I have to say after I setup the HB's they were every bit as good as the PRS , The pup's have more bite and are a little brighter on the HB's which I like. Just because these are cheap guitars don't make them and less playable, both of mine sound, look and feel a lot more expensive than they are. My PRS plays like butter...... but so do both my HB's . In short go buy a HB and see how much you get for so little money you won't be disappointed......and if by chance you are they will take it back and refund you no problems at all...... I have already chosen my next HB it's the Harley Benton TE-70 Black Paisley...... what a beast and for so little money....... all I can say is why spend more for not much more........ instead go buy a nice amp and what ever effects you want and get to playing not paying.

      @@francishead I have to admit that the CST24 hardtail is my fave , Plays beautifully , the trem model is pretty good but the trem is always putting the guitar out of tune so I don't use it at all , just go for the hardtail it's a beaut guitar and the coil split is great I use it lots in the bridge position. Pickups are a personal choice, but the pups in the CST24 are awesome and really suits my style of playing, rock and blues and country rock like eagles etc.

    Finally got my first HB CST-24T yesterday. Right away I oiled the fretboard, I've been reading and hearing they come pretty dried out. Tuned it up and it plays really nice. It was a Bstock, and it doesn't have any scratches, looks brand new. So very happy. the neck is very smooth, no fret problems. The trem, got that in and locked down with that tiny allen wrench. Plugged it in and sounds great. It's weird though, cause it's heavy almost as heavy as my LP. But the neck is thinner especially up near the nut, so it feels a lot easier to play for sure. I'm digging it so far. I like the trem so far.. I used the heck out of it last night, seems like it responds better than some of my locking trems. And it stays in tune very good surprisingly. I'm happy..

      it was a Bstock. My thinking was it's a traveling guitar anyway so if there's some minor wear and tear that's fine, but I was also thinking, if it's been played demo'd etc.. then if there are flaws, maybe quality control would have fixed that before packaging it back up.. I don't know, but that was my thinking.. But I'm going to order another in the near future and we'll see and compare.. :)

Also upgrade capacitors from ceramic to PIO would make it sound warmer too. Did you figure out why Trem does not stay in tune and are you still using trem or you replaced with hard tail?

I've been on to the Harley Benton brand for some time now and have been watching reviews all over TH-cam, so I watched yours too to get as many opinions and unbiased reviews as possible, especially as to how they are set up and the state they are delivered in. This is because I am looking to learn to play and get my first guitar so obviously at the price point the HBs are they are of great interest to me, but since they have been known to come with issues now and then (especially the cheapest ones, such as, at least very scratchy frets and sometimes unleveled frets) and I am a total guitar noob, they still seem just a tiny little bit risky to me; especially since it would let me down to have a bad experience on my first guitar. I would feel safer going for a Squier Bullet Mustang for a similar price range and knowing that it is a consistently great beginner's guitar (and not necessarily just for begginers). Am I being (probably yes) too paranoid? Anyway, subscribed since you seem to have some quality videos here!

I just installed a Tusq nut on an old guitar of mine last week, world of difference but also installed locking tuners along with it.. but yeah completely different guitar. So you don't like the pups? Not to difficult to change them out for an upgrade. I bet a set of Pearly Gates, new nut that thing would really be amazing.. can't wait to get mine and see what I'll do to it if anything

    Another great, and more importantly , honest demo by Mr. B. Straightforward playing and no corny jokes as seems to be the case with many Harley Benton 'presenters'. If you're watching you know who you are...
    Since I feel PRS is highly-overrated, this is a PRS gateway guitar almost s good. Is PRS 10 times better- certainly not! So why pay 10 times more? Of course, PRS' claim to fame was Carlos Santana's playing it.

    Beautiful guitar. Sounds good. I would have just purchased the hard tail model to begin with and saved the $32 and had a more stable tuning situation. If only they had a US distributor and offered all the colors as a hard tail. I worry about getting a damaged guitar. Rich is a VERY good guitarist. So you have to go back to the John Lennon line that goes "If you give me a tuba I'll get something out of it." I'm sure Rich would too. I bought a Harley Benton CST-24HB TOL Tobacco Flame and I would take this beautiful guitar anywhere. Semi-hollow and nice PRS-like Tree of Life inlay on the fret board. If I had gotten a Squire Affinity for the same money before I looked at one of these I'd have been very upset. It's not a PRS but CAD/CAM - Computer Aided Manufacture takes some of the craftwork out of the manufacture and takes a lot of the cost out as well. Thomann Music gets it right.

    They sounded so much alike. But when you have a lot of reverb or delay, you end up hearing most of that and less of the guitar. I'm really finding there really isn't that much different between a lot of cheaper and more expensive guitars because we have them so over effected it really doesn't matter. Not saying that's bad, it's just hard to tell, especially when it's in a mix. The only thing that seems to much different is the cheaper guitars can be a little muddier.
