Yes, it can be a very slow and tedious process to make your own. If you have the resources, buying them from the market is often cheaper than making your own and much more convenient

All stats including Weapon Attack, Boss Damage %, and Stat %, work together to boost your damage output. The difficulty in Maple is that upgrading just one or two items will not result in a noticeable increase in strength. It often requires several pieces of upgrades before you start to see a substantial improvement in your character's damage. So the 14k stat difference between your SM and WB friend is very much due to a cumulative effect of multiple equipment upgrades, which is quite huge

Was considering getting mep and book, then getting dkr and estella. but im scared my mep will get stuck at 17* coz too ex to replace if boom.
it’s difficult for me to advice anything without knowing more about your equips, resources and goals for the game. However, I would generally advice against getting dark boss equips unless all other equips are 22 star and Legendary 30% mpot
I think it's important to remember that this video isn't meant to criticize Legendary equipment, as it does have its own uses and benefits. For one, this gear setup is not sufficient for defeating the current meta bosses like Kalos and Carling, which will require higher level stats. Regarding your calculation, I'm not sure how you arrived at a 1% difference. If we consider the 17 equipment slots besides WSE, and assume 27-30% Potential instead of Unique 15%, the total difference in stats would be between 204-255%, which is significantly more than 1% Final Damage, according to Meta Calculator

Misty Island event is already over, you can just farm another Totem from Yu Garden village or the Temple side for the questline.
too rare and too tedious to farm the third Yu Garden totem
6th and grandis are actually bonker. Post new age the pprogression just became so much better with all of these free gains.

Yes this is largely possible because of class balancing patches, maple Developers have continuously increased our final damage throughout patches
