@Joey Ford 1. You just answered your question 2. There’s a difference of saying cancer as in the disease, and saying cancer as a descriptive term. It’s just insensitive.
I've seen other people saying this already, but I think this is a series that could jump to mobile without much fuss. (yes, I know mobile games have microtransactions, you don't need to keep telling me guys.)
Oh a sign language teaching game using the IR feature would be cool. I don't think I ever had brain age my self back in the day, but it was one of those staple games where someone in your group of friends had it and you could mess around with it, lol When the switch version was announced I saw the professor's big head and was like cool Brain age is back. That being said I always used to mix up the Professor with Iwata-san, and now seeing Brain age also makes me a little sad. :(
This is the PERFECT downloadable title for the Switch. Having the ability to do some quick brain-training on the fly without having to change game cards is going to be amazing. I'm glad that Nintendo hasn't completely given up on these types of games. Between this and Ring Fit Adventure, the system is looking more like the spiritual successor to the Wii and DS I feared we would never get. Great review.
I still think this franchise would be far better off on mobile. There’s an entire category of brain training apps out there on our smartphones which are way more accessible then this and possibly more effective too. I’m glad it’s on Switch but I don’t think it will have the same appeal on Switch as it did on the DS, but it could have had it been a smartphone app.
To reach 'effectiveness' on those apps you have to pay a hefty membership, even 60/year. This game is by far the cheapest option out there, if you don't consider you need a dedicated device.
I find it interesting how Concentration Training added so much to the Brain Age game, and then when the Switch game was released, its as if we have gone back to form to the original Brain Age. Concentration Training had stuff like Devilish Training, Supplemental Training and the Concentration Challenge. On top of this, it had a nice atmosphere to it, emulating what looks like a university building for neuroscience, with Ryuta Kawashima's office, a lab, and even a balcony at sunset for the relaxation mode. On top of this, the soundtrack is, dare I say, iconic. I have no idea why they decided to revert, since the Switch is capable of doing so much more than the 3DS. It is a very strange decision. Perhaps Dr. Kawashima wasn't a fan of the more flashy and personalized look of the third installment? Perhaps there were budget cuts? I don't know. What I do know is that it feels weird going back to a more simplistic game.
I really liked the 3DS game since it was aiming at stopping your Attention Addiction, and focusing on Concentration and memory improvement. This game still looks helpful but the Devilish Training on 3DS in particular is what i wish they wouldve continued.
As I recall, the original DS game worked the same way with the reading exercise. It would be an impossibility for it to accurately recognize a person speaking a whole page's worth of text, especially if the person happens to have an accent. Not exactly a "downgrade". But if you're cheating on the exercise, I'm not sure why you're bothering anyway.
By the way, the games where you have one touch-screen challenge on the top half of the screen and another on the bottom half shows just how well classic DS/3DS games could be made to fit onto the Switch using this vertical mode, if Nintendo wanted to put them on there. I'm not sure of the ideal way to use the controllers for games like this, but at least the display is more than capable of showing both screens on DS/3DS games. And, the point of me saying this is that I really do think Nintendo should put as many DS/3DS games on Switch as possible, maybe as part of its downloadable "Virtual Console" library or something like that.
Honestly, Nintendo and DeNA should work on bringing Brain Age to Mobile Platforms. You can do about 95% of the core game, and probably even more with all of the crap that's crammed into phones nowadays.
Bought the Game a few days ago for 30€. I really enjoyed the old ds game so I gave this a try :D I think it’s a nice idea and I enjoy playing every day about 15 minutes, maybe longer if I do some sudokus.
I played it and theres issue with the game. The problem is when you write number 4 or 1 on the touch screen. It doesnt seem to recognise the number when doing the maths quiz.
Me before ring fit and brain training : Fat , Stupid , believes that Epstein did kill himself Me after: Buffed, Lvl 99 Chad, Smart enough to know that we will get a direct this month
Heh, just a quick explanation about the 9's: This is just a guess, but it's a Japanese developed game and stroke order/count is how they sort kanji, so writing something a different way than the norm is heavily scrutinized, because you won't be able to look something up in a dictionary or describe how to write certain kanji if you learned how to write something the wrong way. It's likely that the game is programmed to recognize that something is a 9 by you drawing the "c" shape on the left first and then the straight line next to it, because that's literally how smartphones recognize manually drawn kanji.
??? The Read Aloud exercise in the DS game didn't use the mircophone. Kawashima even says you can just read it in your head of you are somewhere where you can't read aloud.
I thought Satoru Iwata and Dr. Kawashima are the same person till this game was announced in the nintendo switch, I didn't really know when it came out on ds years ago
So... here's my personal feel. I love playing this game, and it has helped me. Granted, some of the memory games could be better, but I like Sudoku, Masterpiece Recital (Which has actually inspired me to consider learning actual piano), and Photographic Memory. I regularly play this a lot more than the other games I own. Each time I play I really do feel like I'm improving myself even just a little. It's true that I also bought this game for the 3DS a while back but I haven't played that one in a while and that makes me feel ashamed. That one actually was just as addicting as the Switch version is now. But I mainly play the switch, and I feel like we really do deserve more games like this that challenge the mind and inspire kids and adults to try something new and make a habit out of improving themselves.
the nintendo switch's design means you might just be able to hold it in your right hand and write with the left hand, maybe the left handed mode makes it more comfortable by making you hold it upside-down so the triggers aren't in the way

I found an amazing cool but in Paper Mario Color Splash on the Wii U. If you're in a battle with any shy guy & you sit in your card menu for about 20 seconds and do nothing the shy guy will attack without warning and steal one of your cards. And you can only gain it back if you win the battle.
One way they maybe could of got round the reading one without a microphone could of been to ask questions about the text you just read to make sure you read it properly, though it would be possible for someone to cheat those too.
