You are absolutely right about that front cross-member being weak, mine was all bent up from landing on rocks after only one or two trips off road... I have been just banging it back into shape but that's a good idea with the reinforcement.
Nice to see! Im on a 1 year plan to do the same. Mostly. Going to soend $20,000 and replace frame and entire suspension. Ill drive my $35,000 3rd gen over a new vehicle for the next 30 years.
Beautiful. I’m Jelly. 😢 It’s like therapeutic working on these trucks and seeing the progress. Awesome upgrade. Even though they last a long time, there is less and less of these trucks each passing year. Good job!
Nice, looks beautiful. I picked up a non-running 97 2wd zero rust SoCal car with over 300k miles for a few hundred bucks a few weeks back. Took apart the engine, and rebuilt it myself for under $300 and it runs amazing now and i daily drive it. Best money I've ever spend, and they are fun and easy to work on lol. Now I want to sell it and get a 4x4 version lol
Hi Kelly, I stopped by the shop today for an alignment on my 3rd gen. Your guys were great. My truck was clean when I got it back. I couldn't even tell someone was in it. I really appreciate that. I had a look at your 4runner while I was there. It's truly unbelievable. No expense spared. Well done! Question for ya, did you buy a Toyota steering rake? If not, what manufacturer do you trust. I think Toyota is getting low on inventory when it comes to 3rd gen rakes. Also, I think Toyota rakes come with inner rods connected, which is nice.
Awesome! From Vancouver and have a 1st gen Tacoma with a frame that is starting to have rust issues. Would love to do something like this or a back half frame replacement as least.
Also interested. I just picked up a 3rd gen 4Runner last month and it needs some love. Biggest question on my mind is the cost benefit analysis of doing something like this vs picking up something 20 years newer. I’d love to hear others thoughts on how much it would cost to do this now and what benefit you might see over a newer model purchased in a few years while running the 2001.
@@smrack Depends on what you value, the 5th gens do have a lot more granular control in terms of off-road traction control settings and lockers. but if you can find a clean frame, it's a fraction of the cost to do what he's doing here if you can do the work yourself. It's the labor and fabrication costs that go crazy
This looks amazing! any chance you have footage of removing your body from the frame? I know generally what needs to get disconnected but if you could do a walkthrough that would be amazing. I think a lot of us are starting to look at doing frame swaps
Every 3rd gen owners dream
@illspeed831 been wanting to do this forever. Super stoked.
That frame is. VERY NICELY DONE!
You mean every 4runner owners dream. Not just 3rd gen!
This is fantastic
I was about to fall asleep. Now I’m fully awake!
That is absolutely Savage, awesome work.

All I can say is wow. This is the ultimate setup anyone could want for a 3rd gen. Excited to see where you take this rig in the future!
@christianmoule-smith2068 thanks man, I'm really excited as well.

That's a sick build. Just got me a 2000 and I thought I was doing cool stuff then came across this
Maaaaan that is purdy!! Nice work!
What a nice build keep up with your videos i found you on you tube excellent job
I got my 4runner about the same time you started making 3rd gen 4runner vids. Glad you're still putting in work on the 4runner.
As you can tell I plan to keep it. Absolutely love these things.
This might be one of the best 4g4r builds ever

That's player ! Much love on this build 💪🏼
Those wheels look nice.
@@gabrielmillien7439 thank you.
You’ve been busy! Better to do it now than down the road where it’s 3x the price. Congratulations on the new rig! Looks awesome!!
@colinjames2383 thanks dude.

now i know why i haven't seen you posted this 4runner for a while
@@09darkS haha, exactly why. But it's coming back.

Unfortunately no. I wanted to film the whole process, but I just didnt have the time. If youre wanting to do it, Id bet you can.
@ anything that tripped you up you’d wish you knew going in?
Nice!
@@jaredandrews379 thanks.
sheesh, might as well do a new paint job and rebuild everything! New seals and windows and make it a brand new truck!
Wow
I've never seen a 3 link system. What is the benefit of eliminating one of the upper links?
YOU HAVE ALOT OF MONEY WRAPPED INTO THAT RIG
3rd gen done right. Awesome build. Really like your wheels. What wheels and spec are you running and offset?
@richlien5598 thank you. Falcon wheels 17x9 -38 offset.
What's the cost all exactly like that frame.
@faustinocortes7418 honestly, i have no idea. It would be a lot.
I want to lift my 4runner😢
2WD? Dont see caps for the CVs on the front so maybe 4WD
Do you think a 2nd gen 4Runner body would fit on a 3rd gen frame ?
