I had bought one of those XCR700 brand new in 1999. Was a beautiful sled until I had about 1200 miles om it and for whatever reason the clutch side cylinder started running very lean. Needless to say, siezed engine, hole in the piston. The dealer (Wayne's World Polaris Bancroft) was really good, had it fixed for the next weekend. Jetted up 2 sizes. Fried again. Parts on back order. Now my season was going to be pooched. What's Wayne do? He tears apart a brand new sled sitting in his showroom for parts and gets me back on the snow. Cylinder now jetted up 4 sizes. Ran good for the rest of the season but I never did fully trust that sled again. So I traded it for a 99 XCR800. Identical sled to the 700, just different color and the motor is bored to 800cc. That motor works way better as a 800. Put over 10000 miles on that 800. No motor work done to it. Still have it, needs alot of work to get going again. Love those triples!!

I hated the aggressive chassis with a passion when they came out. Being a Polaris muscle sled collector I now can respect why Polaris did it. Main reason was to give more room in the front for the triple pipe setup. It's definitely a love or hate thing.
