  • My favorite descent of the trip. Great scenery, fun curves, and a manageable gradient. Part of a great day of touring with the Buelk Urban velomobile.

Can be cool to see a vélomobile downhill flat out as a longboard

Did you find the cars coexisted with you on the road pretty well in that area? In Utah I sometimes have coexistence "issues" on the uphill (when I am slow) but almost never on the downhill side.

@@ronsteed mostly coexistence was fine. There were a couple incidents, but I planned my route carefully so that the long climbs were on lightly trafficked roads or bike paths and were popular signed bike routes. The downhills aren’t a problem of course.

Is brake cooling an issue at such speeds?
I think about getting a velomobile, but not sure if I need the 90mm brakes.
My weight is 92 kg (should translate into 200 lbs give or take). Area is mostly flat with few exceptions.

@@sebastiandomagala9233 absolutely get 90mm drums. I would never suggest to someone to get 70mm unless all you are doing is racing. Even in mostly flat strain, at 90kg you will want the larger drums. And yes, at the speeds I was traveling the brakes got quite hot. If they get too hot they will fade. That’s why I used the Bülk Urban. The open wheel wells give better brake cooling.

@@mnveloguy thx for the advice. I sat inside a Bülk, that's how far I got.
Nice footage btw, a joy to watch.

@@mnveloguyI had the 70mm brakes in my Milan GT and in the flat northern Germany they worked fine. However I never went faster than 50 km/h because I once was on 70 going downhill for a short time and I was scared, especially because road conditions can suddenly worsen here (potholes etc.)
I had acquired that Milan used but when buying a new one, I would also always go with the 90mm, and for tank steering you don’t have any choice anyway.
