alright so me being a 1.8 main now pretty much since it came out has been good but, now it's finally time to challenge myself again. in this video i attempted to try and get tier tested in every gamemode. i know i missed smp and axe, reason being is axe took way too long to get tier tested in and so did the smp kit. either way i had fun and this is sort of a starting ground on where i currently stand with 1.9+ combat overall. but with that out of the way i hope you enjoyed and thanks for watching! :)

Sword-
Practice KB management (jump resets are the first step, there’s a lot more to KB management). Using this you can try to enter crit trades with your opponent, and this’ll often work on people below HT3. I’d also recommend practicing spacing and avoiding getting comboed.
Neth Pot-
There are two elements to Neth Pot. Fighting and Healing.
Gapples. Are. Life. Quite literally. You need to focus on making sure that your saturation is kept high and that you drain through your gapples long before using pots. Ideally, you should use pots sparingly, preserving them for desperate situations or when you plan a totem pop (these should always be purposeful pops that you can use to rapidly recover from - splash 2 health pots alongside one strength and one speed and immediately turn to continue fighting the player because you get 30s of regen from the totem pop).
As for the combat, you’ll want to practice different types of crits and jump resetting to keep trading with/put pressure on your opponent (and aim is everything). There is some more advanced stuff later on, such as including strafes and eventually standard/sweep/pick hits, but I think it’s best to start simple with these three aspects.
Dia Pot-

UHC-
P-Critting is very important, and you should try to force your opponent away from you so that you can use the opportunity to gap safely (I noticed you often gapped when exposed and low). Use of lava and webs is important for either disrupting an aggressive opponent’s attack chain, forcing an opponent to back off or simply going in for some good crits. Bows and Crossbows are also very important here; you can light up your opponent from a distance to force them to build cover and gap more, and you can use a crossbow to stun your opponent as you approach them, kill them through their shield (CB has Piercing) or use it like the bow and pick up the arrows because they’ll land behind the person because of piercing. Honestly, I think you may benefit most by practicing Axe because that’ll help you lock down the melee and ranged side of things.
Crystal-
Practice surface fighting first. Make sure you know how to avoid getting D-tapped (know when to hold out a totem in both hands), then learn how to physically avoid situations where you’re likely to get D-tapped (don’t stand on ledges/right next to a full block), then learn how to D-tap and get into situations where you can D-tap your opponent.
Then begin learning anchors and hole fights (there are dozens of ways you can do this, but remember - you don’t have to go into holes in tier fights. It’s dangerous and quickly drains totems if you do it wrong and even sometimes if you do it right).

Jooonah, a tip for nethpot, try not to use pots so much, rather chug gaps and get saturation mod, instead of potting rather get ur saturation to the max, only ever pot if ur on low health and running then gap
Tips for all game modes:
Sword: you pcrits are good but your lacking hitselecting and you should strafe before a hit instead of just walking straight to hit.
Neth pot: Turn on saturation mod it helps a lot but keep your saturation high cause if you haven’t noticed your tester was consistently gapping and his saturation was always high saving pots for when you are low he can pressure high saturation=less damage by a lot.
Crystal: work on toteming better and double hand when you get popped. Perl flash straight down when he’s about to d tap you and when you are getting him in a chain you should try and d tap more.
Uhc: you want to go for p crits mostly and when they sheild web them and disable their sheild. You should be gapping more and using your crossbow and bow more often.

For Crystal, u would be 10x better if u used anchors more! Also, if u tap glow stone once on anchors and switch to a different spot, u can insta explode them without full charge!

I am HT3 and sword and you seemed like you did really well. You definitely deserved HT4 and with a little bit of practice with movement, aim, and timings, you would definitely get a lot better real quick! Hope this helps

You should be gapping so much more in nethpot. In this ver, u can stack saturation, so if u double or triple gap, ur basically getting double the health. So u can save ur health pots for a more desperate situation.

Don’t be mad about the lt4 UHC. UHc is a very hard gamemode to learn it’s typically normal to get ht4 or lt4 in uhc
Jona just a few tips when you get a combo in sword based duels i see u do what is called uppercutting a lot it and this is not criting which is why I believe is why u lost most all of your fights because you were not doing nearly as much damage as your opponent instead what is good to do in a combo situation is to p-crit and jump combo were using the momentum of falling to the ground you can use that to get a crit. Uppercutting is good for styling but for close fights like these damage really matters and in neth pot u did well but the reason u lost was because saturation is extremely extremely important and especially in that game in newer versions the less saturation you have the more damage you take which is why you were getting dropped you should legit be gapping after every saturation bar you lose if you have enough gaps also a strat is to double or even triple gap if you have time to and if your sat drops down 2 bars and you are in a combo you are basically dead
Edit: i know you do crit abit but u need to do it more in close games

In swords many times when youre low you try to go agro , try s tapping and playing safer when youre low
In nethpot gap till saturation and crit way more and learn to p crit without jumping
In uhc you lack a bit of hotkey speed and u need to cobweb way more and use other items other than just sword and axe
In crystal its very important to charge the anchor only once then blow with your sword and when you popped dont run def yourself retotem gap and then go for the fight , in hole fights when u have launched them far enough hit crystal anchor and repeat
As a pvper for 2 years (mainly neth pot and cpvp along with sword) u mains need to focus on p crits for nethpot and sword they can be super useful. And also anchors are super op in crystal u try using them more often. And youll do good in uhc because of your gamesense from 1.8 just gotta learn to use the shield better. And maybe for cpvp u try playing it more or try to get a coach or something

just saying, in nethpot you need to gap more, you were gapping very rarely you did you do better later. but just work on your gapping and you should be able to get somewhere from ht4 to lt3

In netpot you need to do intense critchain if you want improve you aim and strafing etc play more netpot in sword train more if you need to kill crit them , also combo and learn to strafe very well in the new version jumpreset hit selecting in uhc be faster with hot keys and have good strategy and gamesense also be defensive and agressive based on the right time in crystal you must need to use anchor and crystals very well and practise more on and increase gamesense strategy and movement / speed
