(AWAS- Berita Baru 9/2/24) Chery (Australia has recalled 5901 examples of its Omoda 5, after discovering a defect which can result in brake failure for the small SUV.
The recall affects all Chery Omoda 5s sold in Australia since local deliveries began in mid-2023.
“Due to a manufacturing defect, the bolt securing the brake pipe union may not have been tightened sufficiently. This could cause the brake fluid to leak and result in reduced braking performance,” Chery said in its recall notice.
“A reduction in braking performance could increase the risk of an accident resulting in serious injury or death to the vehicle occupants, pedestrians and other road users.”

My personal review based on my recent visit to Chery Showroom
Car built quality & features:
Good features and functionalities but built quality is lacking if look closely under the hood and in the cabin. Love the cockpit displays very cool and crisp.
Showroom review:
Basic, similar to any other dealership, however the cleanliness could be better as during my visit there were flies lurking around outside and also inside the cars and some dead ones on the sunroof ledges. Could be improved but overall it is ok.
Sales service review:
Unprofessional and they will upfront prejudge you, they should stick a notice on their doors, car viewing is prohibited, only serious buyer allowed. I can see the male sales advisors are more professional and cordial, but one particular female sales advisor is just an hard sell, pushy boaster (she claimed she is experienced in automative sales for a long time, not sure if that is true #whatever) and even cocky to pass comments like “don’t waste each others time”, “don’t play play”; during test drive she even said, this is my boss car you langgar (hit by accident) you just get a unit from us, hahaha #notfunny 🙄. At this point I was totally annoyed and didn’t wanna shut her up. When we proceeded to price list review and consultation, she again passed the same comment i.e. ‘that’s why I asked earlier don’t play play’ and at this point I was pissed off and told her off. They think they are luxury car brand show room. If any one of you intend to visit this show room don’t look for her but go for a male sales advisor and hopefully fingers crossed you get a better service whilst you’re there.
Overall it was an annoying experience that I had there but having said that the car is nice and decent with lots of good features but sadly dampened by unprofessional sales advisor particularly that one female personnel.
