Just went for my first Jog. To fix the issue of the watch not showing up when you turn your wrist, you have to turn it gently. I was turning wrist fast and nothing....turned it gently and it worked Everytime.
The ECG needs FDA approval before it can be activated. it's not that they don't have the app to activate it, they can't activate it until the FDA says they can. Sammobile says they're expecting the approval to come through Q1 2020.

I've never taken off my watch too since I've bought it, except for charging, changing bands and taking a bath, I love it so much, sleep tracking is very on point accurate

I got mine yesterday and it might've saved my life because it told me my heart rate was really high (131 to be exact) from the medication I take. So now I'm not taking that medication again

Not long after my comment mine arrived and I've already used it on its first gyme session. Great little piece, comfortable and accurate. It mirrored the treadmill exactly so happy with that.
I've been getting 2-3 days of battery life pretty consistently with this watch. I basically wanted a Versa 2 with GPS and that's this watch serves that purpose well. Having built in GPS is totally worth an extra $80-100 for me. While the phone connected GPS the Versa uses is about as accurate as the GWA2, it's certainly not as reliable. I was getting sick of my Versa losing connection with my phone mid run and throwing my pace off. I still take my phone with me for music and just in case I need to make/take a call. The heart rate sensor in the GWA2 is also quicker to detect changes in HR and is a little more accurate during vigorous exercise. My fitbit would consistently overestimate my HR by 10-15 BPM during runs. I used a Polar chest strap to compare and the GWA2 is more accurate.
Could you imagine trying to justify other deficiencies like that. Bad battery life - "Just keep it on battery saver 24/7" What I'm trying to say with this is I shouldn't have to change the way I interact with my smartwatch to have a feature that should be basic

It doesn't show the workout screen unless you actually wake the watch. Always on just makes the 'passive mode' of the current watch face show constantly. Let me know if I'm missing something with this.
I wish you would have spoken about always on display. I was having issues at first and I thought that I had a defective device. I soon realized that you have to have the watch securely worn in wrist and a clean sensor. It needs to detect you are wearing it. Also, the wrist wake up gesture kills battery. I have the always on enabled, the wake gesture disabled and screen tap wake up disabled, heart monitor always running too. I think it works best. I just hit home button when im ready to interact. I just look at my watch to check time (without any failed gesture issues like you said)and always on does the rest.
If you're wondering about the battery life with the settings I described, I wake up and get my day started around 7am and come home around 10pm. Battery would be around 55-50%
just bought mine yesterday. so happy with it so far. its just sleek and it functions better than a lot of other smart watches ive seen. but then again, i went from a fitbit charge 2, to a galaxy active 2 so i really dont have much experience with smart watches. but yeah im very impressed. spent a lot of dough so it better last me for a long time
I just purchased this for my husband for Christmas. He had the huawei smartwartch but since we were having issue w/ the back of it when charging.. it wasn’t properly charging even if he cleaned it already. He wanted the fossil ones maybe because the price is not that much.. but i chose this because of the very good reviews. I hope he will like this. Otherwise, we’re returning 😅 thanks for the video.
I do not take a shower with a watch but If you are tempered by taking an ice shower, then you may need to know the time to know the duration of the procedures. Also if someone just want to wear a watch during taking a shower i do not see any problems.
Just got the active 2 gold color. I charged it fully friday around 3:30 in the afternoon and it's now Monday around 3 and it's at 5%. I have the heart rate set to hourly and the weather set to hourly. It's the LTE version I've used it to text answer calls and I downloaded 2 games as well as messed with it quite a bit in that time. Not to shabby. It is super comfortable and a lot more useful than I thought it would be. I also got alot of complements from coworkers the first couple days I wore it.
@@LidossPunchX I found out what it was, at the Bluetooth options I must have the call option on, I had it off because I use Bluetooth headphones and when it was on I received the calls at the smartwatch and no the headphones, I felt dumb now hahaha thanks for the help

I just use "other workout" to track my lifting. Not ideal but better than nothing. This watch cost me $36 after my Samsung discounts so I'm not too upset with the negatives I have about it. In the future if I was to buy a newer model at full-price I would like a lot of these complaints mentioned in the video to be addressed. My main complaint would be lack of supported apps and ease of finding apps on the app store.
Ehmm maybe use Always on feature ? while you run ? so the screen doenst turn off ?.... There is an option on workout mode that your screen shows always info about your running data
So far the best in depth review I have seen. Would love visual editing like being done in Verge or Mr. Mobile, but the information is as clear as needed to be! Good review.
@Montaga what are the app options like? Right now I have a versa 2 and it doesn't have many apps do I'm looking at either the active 2 or fossil gen 5. I heard that the gen 5 has more apps such as Google maps, google fit and play music. However the active 2 has less apps but since Samsung makes most of them they are very well made.
@Montaga ok thanks I'm probably going to get the gen 5 since I have all my stuff though google and it is how I log into all my accounts. The only thing is that wear os doesn't have Spotify.
Great review and sensible pros and cons. Specially the auto wake up when running, can be a pain I switched on the tap wake up rather than flinging my wrist about. I like the sleep monitoring also, has really helped me try and make a proper bedtime and wake up. Its really improved over the last three weeks.

Hi there! You didn't cover the swimming feature. It appears to be a big flaw in that it doesn't register the amount of lanes correctly. I've seen complaints about this issue multiple times on the internet and was wondering what your experience is. For me it's either the samsung watch active 2 (€377) of the garmin fenix 6S (€585). The price difference is huge, but I'm willing to pay more if the data is more correct. But then again, this might just be a software issue, so it could be fixable in the near future.

I've been using my active 2 for 8 months now and it's overheated 4 times. It seems to be triggered in LTE mode. Discussed the issue with Samsung and they are willing to look at it if I ship it to them. Not looking forward to the process!
Easily fixable btw... just pull your easy to the lowest angle you look at it at... ...and tap the screen on a voila problem fixed ...do that 3 times and you're good...
@@bomidaver154 Actually I did this...twice...First from versa 2 back to A2 and then back to the Sense. Then I have to the conclusion for myself its just a better watch. Yes the app and battery are better on fitibit but the Active 4 should make more use with the Wear OS

Hi Mike, it’s a great review as always. I bought my Active2 in February 2020 and I had to send back to Samsung to repair. They replaced LCD (screen) , charger and rear panel. When I got my watch back I noticed that now it is a model 753C, but I had R830. Do you know the difference between these models and do I need to send it back to Samsung to replace to my model R830? I would really appreciate your help in this matter!

The only problem I'm facing is with the Watch Active 2 plugin on my OnePlus 6T. Don't know the reason its draining my battery like hell. Used to get easy 4hr+ screen on time now i barely get 2 and half hours. Dont know what to do. Your help is appreciated.
Biggest issue is the 44mm screen. For the watch to track my heart rate, I find that it needs to be pretty low on my wrist and the larger version inevitably slides further down my wrist if I flex my hand, especially at night, which makes the sleep tracker difficult to track unless I strap it on to the point where it is too uncomfortable to wear. Same issue during the day, if I flex my hand in an upwardly position, the watch will slip down slightly and stop reading my heart rate. Other than that, I am super happy but wish I had opted for the 40mm version.
Great reviews Mike! I am getting close to purchasing this watch and your reviews are very helpful. I know the ECG functionality is built into the watch, but not enabled until they get FDA approval. Is there any risk that when they finally get the FDA approval, the functionality currently built into the watch will not work due to potential necessary changes to receive the final FDA approval? Also, are there any rumors Samsung will come out with a new version of the Galaxy Watch with the rotating bezel? Thanks Mike!
Love the watch but the biggest disappointment for me is that WhatsApp call notifications don't appear, bur weird enough they appear if the watch is paired to an iPhone. Doesn't make sense, but oh well! Hope they come out with a fix for this.

Its very accurate. I was in bed sick this whole week and not once did it think I was asleep when I wasn't. Meanwhile earlier today I took a nap for an hour, woke up for like 5 minutes to put my phone on the charger then slept for another hour and it recognized that I woke up and logged two different sleeps even though they were only 5 minutes apart and I'm pretty I barely moved during the time
Idk who will read this on a 2 year old video, but is the watch still a valid option in October 2021? I'm not willing to spend top dollar for the latest tech, and I see that this Active 2 has most of the features I would want anyways (Exercise tracking, Sleep tracking, Samsung Pay). Also it only costs $150 USD (brand new in box), compared to $370 USD for a Galaxy Watch 4

I really really dont like the virtual bezels on this watch and now I get why its off by default. It really isn’t smooth and sometimes you accidentally press the screen as you need to apply pressure and make sure your finger follows the path of the bezel. Due to these bezels, the 44mm version feels a lot more constrictive in terms of screen real estate compared to its competitors.

Fossil Gen 5. It's a full fledged computer on your wrist with fitness add-ons. Active is primarily a fitness tracker with smart watch features. So, you can pick what suits you. Aesthetically it's Fossil and wear os has many apps to choose from although it seems buggy sometimes.
My wife uses a pixel phone and we are kind of Google purists but she has used an S3 frontier watch and liked it a lot. I would like to get her a smartwatch for light fitness and microphone speaker all that. What is your suggestion for either a Google watch or should I go with this watch?

This is by far the MOST comfortable watch ever! I wore it on a 4 day cruise in power saving mode and lasted the entire time no problem!
I definitely agree. Personally, I prefer the 40mm watch of the two. Smaller and more comfortable

The ECG feature is still being reviewed by the FDA, so fingers crossed a government agency is actually reviewing this feature for approval.
Also fall detection is coming along with it once it's approved by FDA in the USA and CE in Europe.
I bought a BT version on USA but I live in Argentina, I assume that the ecg will work for me, correct?

I just use "other workout" to track my lifting. Not ideal but better than nothing. This watch cost me $36 after my Samsung discounts so I'm not too upset with the negatives I have about it. In the future if I was to buy a newer model at full-price I would like a lot of these complaints mentioned in the video to be addressed. My main complaint would be lack of supported apps and ease of finding apps on the app store.
Ehmm maybe use Always on feature ? while you run ? so the screen doenst turn off ?.... There is an option on workout mode that your screen shows always info about your running data
9ne major issue that I found after 2 months use is the heart rate accuracy which is way out when I am exercising.

@Montaga what are the app options like? Right now I have a versa 2 and it doesn't have many apps do I'm looking at either the active 2 or fossil gen 5. I heard that the gen 5 has more apps such as Google maps, google fit and play music. However the active 2 has less apps but since Samsung makes most of them they are very well made.
@Montaga ok thanks I'm probably going to get the gen 5 since I have all my stuff though google and it is how I log into all my accounts. The only thing is that wear os doesn't have Spotify.
The touch bezel is also there for Samsung Active 1 through a software update. 👍
Great review and sensible pros and cons. Specially the auto wake up when running, can be a pain I switched on the tap wake up rather than flinging my wrist about.
I like the sleep monitoring also, has really helped me try and make a proper bedtime and wake up. Its really improved over the last three weeks.

Hi there! You didn't cover the swimming feature. It appears to be a big flaw in that it doesn't register the amount of lanes correctly. I've seen complaints about this issue multiple times on the internet and was wondering what your experience is.
For me it's either the samsung watch active 2 (€377) of the garmin fenix 6S (€585). The price difference is huge, but I'm willing to pay more if the data is more correct. But then again, this might just be a software issue, so it could be fixable in the near future.

I've been using my active 2 for 8 months now and it's overheated 4 times. It seems to be triggered in LTE mode. Discussed the issue with Samsung and they are willing to look at it if I ship it to them. Not looking forward to the process!
I had mine for 2 days and it overheated 3 times. Plus you can't transfer music from TH-cam music. I just returned it today. Not worth the $400.

Galaxy Watch also had lift to wake issue. I used it for a month early 2019 but returned it after a month.
Easily fixable btw... just pull your easy to the lowest angle you look at it at... ...and tap the screen on a voila problem fixed ...do that 3 times and you're good...

And active zone minutes, also the sleep mode seems more detailed in the versa 2...
I went back to my good old fit bit. Active 2 cant begin to compare to it. It's now collecting dust in my drawer
@@bomidaver154 Actually I did this...twice...First from versa 2 back to A2 and then back to the Sense. Then I have to the conclusion for myself its just a better watch. Yes the app and battery are better on fitibit but the Active 4 should make more use with the Wear OS

Hi Mike, it’s a great review as always. I bought my Active2 in February 2020 and I had to send back to Samsung to repair. They replaced LCD (screen) , charger and rear panel. When I got my watch back I noticed that now it is a model 753C, but I had R830. Do you know the difference between these models and do I need to send it back to Samsung to replace to my model R830? I would really appreciate your help in this matter!

The only problem I'm facing is with the Watch Active 2 plugin on my OnePlus 6T. Don't know the reason its draining my battery like hell. Used to get easy 4hr+ screen on time now i barely get 2 and half hours. Dont know what to do. Your help is appreciated.
Biggest issue is the 44mm screen. For the watch to track my heart rate, I find that it needs to be pretty low on my wrist and the larger version inevitably slides further down my wrist if I flex my hand, especially at night, which makes the sleep tracker difficult to track unless I strap it on to the point where it is too uncomfortable to wear. Same issue during the day, if I flex my hand in an upwardly position, the watch will slip down slightly and stop reading my heart rate. Other than that, I am super happy but wish I had opted for the 40mm version.

Is there any risk that when they finally get the FDA approval, the functionality currently built into the watch will not work due to potential necessary changes to receive the final FDA approval? Love the watch but the biggest disappointment for me is that WhatsApp call notifications don't appear, bur weird enough they appear if the watch is paired to an iPhone. Doesn't make sense, but oh well! Hope they come out with a fix for this.

Is the sleep tracking accurate? Or will it think you're sleeping when lying still?
Its very accurate. I was in bed sick this whole week and not once did it think I was asleep when I wasn't. Meanwhile earlier today I took a nap for an hour, woke up for like 5 minutes to put my phone on the charger then slept for another hour and it recognized that I woke up and logged two different sleeps even though they were only 5 minutes apart and I'm pretty I barely moved during the time

Idk who will read this on a 2 year old video, but is the watch still a valid option in October 2021? I'm not willing to spend top dollar for the latest tech, and I see that this Active 2 has most of the features I would want anyways (Exercise tracking, Sleep tracking, Samsung Pay). Also it only costs $150 USD (brand new in box), compared to $370 USD for a Galaxy Watch 4

@@adityastrcoep yup I did. I would say its more of an accessory I could live without though. Sure the battery life is great, Samsung Pay is convenient, Sleep tracking is fancy, but all in all it hasn't "changed" my life much.

I really really dont like the virtual bezels on this watch and now I get why its off by default. It really isn’t smooth and sometimes you accidentally press the screen as you need to apply pressure and make sure your finger follows the path of the bezel. Due to these bezels, the 44mm version feels a lot more constrictive in terms of screen real estate compared to its competitors.

Fossil Gen 5. It's a full fledged computer on your wrist with fitness add-ons. Active is primarily a fitness tracker with smart watch features. So, you can pick what suits you. Aesthetically it's Fossil and wear os has many apps to choose from although it seems buggy sometimes.
