As a Designer, the impact of Disney and the original Imagination ride are deep in my soul. There's a lot about our first trip to Disney that I don't remember, but that ride and the rainbow tunnel are forever seared in my brain. When I go on the current ride there's a part of me that's transported back in time to the original 🌈 💖
The best and most beloved rides/attractions were not Disney-movie themed within an inch of their lives. Taking a classic and commercializing it to promote films and sell merchandise is so anti-Walt.
My mom scrimped and saved and took me to Disney World, to try and kinda lift my spirits after several very rough years, and luckily our trip was in 1984… and Journey into Imagination was absolutely the BEST part of EPCOT Center (which itself was way more appealing than Magic Kingdom to a tween into science and futurism and city planning), and I’m just shocked Disney thought people would tolerate Figment’s eviction. I only recently learned Eisner upended EPCOT’s educational theme in favor of pushing Disney’s movie IP, and it just makes me sad. Frankly, the singing refrigerator contents at Kitchen Cabaret were a close second to Figment, in terms of being hysterically fun. And even though the twin Communicore complexes were already a little dated by ‘84 (we’d all seen touchscreen computers by then), they were a fine concept. Things evolve, of course… but completely upending ride concepts, or whole park concepts, is a tricky thing - it reeks of bean counting middle management making changes just for the sake of making changes, regardless of what the creatives tell them. “Our research shows…” I worked at a market research firm - fortunately, a principled one - and I lost count of how many times some manager with a pet project tried to order particular results that would back whatever project they were pushing… Anyway. I guess I’ll always treasure my Figment mug, is part of what I’m saying. And considering how many media outlets Disney now controls, if they want to revive EPCOT, rather than awkwardly ramming existing IP into barely-connected rides… why not develop new, education-oriented IP through Disney+ or National Geographic (now owned by Disney) or ABC Saturday morning programming? A holographic Sir David Attenborough presenting a conservation-themed ride would be a hit, I guarantee! But I’m still glad I saw Disney World In ‘84. Hopefully someone with real vision will helm Disney Corp. again someday.
Thanks for sharing your memories. Epcot was my favorite park too as a child in the 90s and seeing what it is now I just feel privileged I got to see the old attractions as many times as I did.
I can’t believe people peel their shoes and socks off for an indoor theater ride… but then again, I went to a movie once where three people four rows back and to my right brought with them - and ate, noisily! - some kind of entire four-course fast-food chicken dinner, all while talking to one another AND to their friends over FaceTime, loudly enough to be heard clearly over the movie, and then threatened to fight a couple two rows ahead of them for daring to shush them. We’ve gone way too far in letting people behave like the whole world is their soiled family den.
I loved the original Journey Into Imagination, Soarin’ Over California, and Test Track. I do like the newer version of Small World at DLR. I haven’t had the chance to ride Mission Breakout yet.
I LOVE It's A Small World!!! A few years ago on its anniversary and everyone played the theme song at a specific time so that it was playing all around the world, I blasted it at work...and then let it play on a loop for the rest of the day on my portable work cart...my coworkers were not thrilled with me that day, fortunately they know I am a Disney fanatic and let it slide. But when they changed the attraction by adding Disney characters I was enraged, I wrote letters, I protested to no avail. Why do Disney characters that have nothing to do with the ride have to be added into everything!!! I'm still not over it in case you can't tell. Despite their disrespect to Mary, Rolly and Walt I still love Disney Parks.
Oh my gosh. This team.....perfection! Can we all hang out! Lord Jesus! This is what the world needs! Also, when everyone is singing at the same time in different Keys!!! Hahahahaha
Original Journey into Imagination looks cool they should bring it back. I wish they would change the Carousel of progress theme song back to “Now is the time”
I would do anything to ride the original Journey again.. Then go upstairs and play in the rainbow tunnel. One of my best memories as a child. Make it happen Disney!! We all want it, I'm pretty sure.
I’m appalled to learn they tampered with the Enchanted Tiki Room! That was the best part of Magic Kingdom. If I ever come into Michael-Jackson-go-crazy-Neverland money, and frankly even if I’m ninety at the time, I’m building me a roomful of singing audioanimatronic parrots!
I miss The Dreamfinder with my whole heart. They know. They put him on the Festival of the Arts merch this year. They know what they did. They know it was wrong. More Figment is always better. Just saying.
We were ALL mad when Figment was removed from Journey of Imagination! I am so glad he was put back in! If you guys love Disney, I am doing 100 facts about EVERY Disney animated film. I have already done the first 21 films! th-cam.com/video/qMCJ4NHXjL0/w-d-xo.html
It’s a small world. that’s my ride and to be honest, I cried when I first ride on it. The reason is because my parents went to Disneyland without me when I was just 3 years old. They told me when they rode in it, they regretted not bringing me to that trip and they could not stop telling me how great it was. And now I will ride it whenever I go to Disneyland/Disney world all over the world.
I was so mad when I went to Disneyland at Christmas a few years ago and they split the track with We wish you a merry Christmas. It is so iconic by it self. Also not all the world celebrates Christmas. Ugh I still get mad.
All of mid-‘80s EPCOT was pretty fantastic. Well before Jurassic Park, one ride took you through a dinosaur swamp, and big audioanimatronic dinosaurs would waddle around you, peering at you, and swooping their long necks over your boat and dripping swamp water on you from the leafy vegetation in their mouths… and best of all, they pumped in these sulfurous, gassy smells!! It was awesome… I kinda think that might’ve been the World of Energy ride, though, rather than Motion, telling the story of where petrochemicals came from. Maybe I can dig out my old guidebook and figure it out. But yeah, pre-Eisner EPCOT ruled!
Bring back the Dreamfinder! As much as i love Eric Idle, the only worthy version was the first iteration of Journey to Imagination! Figment is my favorite character...ever. I experienced all three versions. Bring back the original and best!!!!
I love every RTT videos, but this was my favorite! I desperately miss Journey Into Imagination. That ride and there original Image Works was the MOST magical place in Epcot! I just went on the new rides in November. I bawled my eyes out the entire time. I miss Figment and Dreamfinder!
I love mission break out so much. The tower of terror scared me so much that my family would joke about us going on it. Now that Mission breakout is here I joke to my family about us going on it for a fifth time because it’s my new favorite ride there!
I believe it was Disney who said that Disneyland will never be completed so whether or not someone else doesn't like changes is rather immaterial. Disney was very pro-change/adapting and worshipped the dollar so as long as it's making money, be it a fresh look or just raise prices, I believe he'd be lovin' it. I never mind them re-theming rides as long as they keep it the same type of ride. Then they said they were re-theming Tower of Terror, I was fine as long as they keep it the same type of ride. The re-theming of Splash Mountain looks like it's going to be so pretty and as long as they keep the splash down, I don't care what the theme is. I don't find the Small World song to be an earworm. I sing along when I'm there and it leaves my head when I'm done.
So how about this... Mix Figment AND the characters from Inside Out into a ride. Your emotions can alter how you think. Look at Disney movies alone... they bring us on a rollercoaster of emotions.
I am still upset about Soarin’. I hate the distortions in the new version - it ruined the ride and it went from my favorite ride at Epcot and in my top 3 at WDW to something I am ok with skipping.
i've always found Soarin' overrated - but I do prefer the new "around the world" over the old "across the USA" version. This is meant to be a "flight" so some kind of editing magic so that it feels like its a continuous trip rather than a series of clips stuck together would make it a whole lot better imo.
The originals are always better! However, I do enjoy the random/multiple drops on ToT way better than the one drop it had at the beginning of its existence.
I was mad at first when they changed Tower of Terror to Guardians but I actually like it better & can still enjoy TT when we go to Orlando. And at Halloween time they do an awesome change in the evening that is even better then regular Guardians. How did you know people were so mad about Small World. It happened in 2009 before social media was big. I love the change. I had no idea they had done it the first time I saw it over a decade ago. I love looking to try and find the characters they added. 1 change I do not like is California Screaming. It was awesome how it was and the music mimicked what you were feeling. Incredacoaster is cute but the original is the best. Controversial opinion ahead, I hate all versions of Journey into Imagination and I don't understand the cult like following it has. Sorry Test Track, 6's, good both ways. And I liked Soaring over California better. I actually felt like I was moving and the smells were superior and not a bunch of fake CGI. Soaring over the world feels more like you just sit there and are watching a movie. Just my opinions. Thanks :)
I don’t get Figment. I don’t like the dragon. I don’t like the ride. And DON’T tell me that I’d love it if I rode the original. I have. It’s a dumb ride.
I really don’t like the new Test Track at all and it was one of my faves. I was actually disappointed when they closed Horizons for it but what they created made up for it. New Soarin is not as good. I miss the smells ... nothing like zooming over the orange trees and smelling them. Goes without saying that original Journey was the best
Fun fact. I did not know Small World was a Disney thing until LAST. YEAR. I took piano lessons as a small child and "It's a small word" was one of the songs I had to learn. Only when I started watching Disney vloggers did I realize it was from Disney.
Rjay, please release a full length version of you singing "Imagination"!!
Yes!
As a Designer, the impact of Disney and the original Imagination ride are deep in my soul. You guys are helping me cope with the fact I'm not at Disney World!!!
me too! it's a small world is my favorite ride so I'm extra excited to watch this!
Same.
Disney is my third home
The guy at 1:31 who belted out the word “Imagination” 😧😍🤩 Who is he? Please tell me he has an album that I can download 🙏🏼
That's Rjay I think he does indeed make music. 😊
❤️❤️❤️🥰🥰
My kids and I LOVED the Rainbow Tunnel
Im kind of obsessed with the idea of a reimagined Wreck it Ralph style test track! Make it happy Molly!
These are great! Keep them rolling! I like Molly’s idea from last episode to talk about Spectromagic! Most favorite parade EVER!
I think they should retheme Test Track to Wreck-It Ralph (they did design Vanellope's car, remember?) or even Cars!
I really did loooove the OG Test Track! It's one of the few rides that really stuck in my brain as a child.
Rjay singing is always the high point of RTT vids for me. 🙂
My least favorite ride update has to be Test Track. The OG was the absolute best!
The best and most beloved rides/attractions were not Disney-movie themed within an inch of their lives. Taking a classic and commercializing it to promote films and sell merchandise is so anti-Walt.
RTT just in time for lunch? Fabulous content - love it!!!

My hubby and I are headed to Disney for my 50th in 13 days ❤
Aww have a fantastic time and stay safe ☺️
@@Vixx89 aw thank you and we sure will do our very best ❤
Congratulations and have a magical time!!
Ah enjoy! 11 days now :-)
Love you guys! Rjay- Amazing! 🤩
About Soarin' over California, RJay-- PREACH!
okay molly giving actually FACTS about people with their stinky feet
I can’t believe people peel their shoes and socks off for an indoor theater ride… but then again, I went to a movie once where three people four rows back and to my right brought with them - and ate, noisily! - some kind of entire four-course fast-food chicken dinner, all while talking to one another AND to their friends over FaceTime, loudly enough to be heard clearly over the movie, and then threatened to fight a couple two rows ahead of them for daring to shush them. Could they somehow merge Small World with Toy Story Mania?...the boat could have a gun and you see how many little dolls you can take out
Billy Barty was the original voice for Figment
Yes! He was perfect for it! 💜💜💜💜
I LOVE it when people clap at the end of Soarin
I LOVE It's A Small World!!! i NEED to hear a RJay cover of One Little Spark
We had to cancel two trips already.....y’all are helping me cope with not being there!
Thanks for sharing the magic!
I think people were more upset about removing Mr. Toad's Wild Ride than the characters in IASW?
I’m appalled to learn they tampered with the Enchanted Tiki Room! That was the best part of Magic Kingdom.
If I ever come into Michael-Jackson-go-crazy-Neverland money, and frankly even if I’m ninety at the time, I’m building me a roomful of singing audioanimatronic parrots!

Went on Soarin for the first time in Nov 2020. Favorite ride of all time. Even better than Rise... Magical..
It’s a small world. that’s my ride and to be honest, I cried when I first ride on it. The reason is because my parents went to Disneyland without me when I was just 3 years old. Molly talking about the feet 😂😂😂
Love you Molly and friends! ❤️😊
Ahahahaha!!!! I was cracking up @ Crash Test Dummies and totally lost it @ Jncos!!!! This was the BEST! lol! #embraceyourinnernerd
How about remembering the original world of motion? I was really little but I remember a boat and a seaserpent.

watching this while have lunch at my desk from work SWIRLING and SPINNING in my chair through the whole it´s a small world segment lol
Bring back the Dreamfinder! As much as i love Eric Idle, the only worthy version was the first iteration of Journey to Imagination! Figment is my favorite character...ever. I experienced all three versions. Bring back the original and best!!!!
Yes!!!!
Love a Small World!

Old test track is my fav
I want the old Wishes fireworks show back!!
soarin over ca was being used in summer 2019 and it was incredible
It was the best. I was so jealous when they brought it back to DCA. I hope they redo Soarin’.
I love how on the riot sign they used the Paramore RIOT! art lol
breedlove - you are a treasure
I’m a cm at Guardians in dca! If you haven’t seen it at Halloween time, you need to make it a must do!
I love mission break out so much. The tower of terror scared me so much that my family would joke about us going on it. Now that Mission breakout is here I joke to my family about us going on it for a fifth time because it’s my new favorite ride there!
Soarin' over California IS THE BEST!!!!!
Breedlove could totally reboot the Dreamfinder.
Yes!!!!
RJ, I want to be on the committee!
I love molly but I’d be lying if I said that her suggestion of re theming test track to wreck it Ralph didn’t leave me with violent thoughts
I literally was distracted by singing “save by the bell” theme song with this background 😂
Fun video!
Give us back the original Figment or a newer better version of his ride! Wreck it Ralph in test tracks would be AMAZING
I believe it was Disney who said that Disneyland will never be completed so whether or not someone else doesn't like changes is rather immaterial. I am all for Molly’s Wreck It Ralph version of test track 👍🏻👍🏻
honestly, me too.
If you like the orange grove smell, try Nivea Orange Blossom body wash.
So how about this... Mix Figment AND the characters from Inside Out into a ride. Your emotions can alter how you think. Look at Disney movies alone... they bring us on a rollercoaster of emotions.
The idea of retheming Test Track to Wreck it Ralph has blown my mind 🤯 it would be so goooooood! 🥰
I am still upset about Soarin’. I hate the distortions in the new version - it ruined the ride and it went from my favorite ride at Epcot and in my top 3 at WDW to something I am ok with skipping.
Small World is a rite of passage - to purgatory
funny about Test Track, as that's not even the original ride for that spot. :) Although I did prefer the original Test Track.
I can do either version of Soarin if I can get the spray. Can we get a candle too?
Bring back Dream Finder for Figment miss that version
I love being born in 86
If they ever get rid of Patrick at Soarin we riot.
i've always found Soarin' overrated - but I do prefer the new "around the world" over the old "across the USA" version. This is meant to be a "flight" so some kind of editing magic so that it feels like its a continuous trip rather than a series of clips stuck together would make it a whole lot better imo.
No!!! The distortions are awful!
I hate it’s a small world. I don’t know why. It just feels creepy to me. Hate it.
The ttle of this video makes you think it is solely about iasw, when it isn't. It should be reentitled "Leave Our Favorite Attractions Alone, Disney!"
Rjay is the funniest person on here!!
The originals are always better! However, I do enjoy the random/multiple drops on ToT way better than the one drop it had at the beginning of its existence.

Wait, this channel has more people on it? I thought it was only Molly 😳
I don’t get Figment. I don’t like the dragon. I don’t like the ride. And DON’T tell me that I’d love it if I rode the original. I have. It’s a dumb ride.
I didn't like it when they changed Pirates of the Caribbean
Committee is misspelled, sorry
Soarin was much better as Soarin Across America at Disney World. Not as big a fan of the changes.
Please don’t listen to R-Jay about Soarin! I would much rather see the whole world than Cali. Sorry but who cares about California on its own??
Justin Bieber has let himself go 😀
11:17
Are my wife and I really the only ones who have zero love for Soarin? An average motion sim and a distorted imax movie. One and done.
Well, this was annoying.
Worst ride change... Pirates of Caribbean... no pirates being pirates. Stopped them chasing the women.. changed the "we wants the red head"(Quincy)...
First
