Love these reflections! I have been sad to see the pond not work out over this last year, that’s been the dream since I started following y’all.
For us, this last year has been amazing and challenging! we grew our family with a new baby, we chopped down 27 trees on our property, finished fencing in the property, built a stationary chicken coop and run. Got our first chickens! got more chickens, lost half our flock to a coyote and a fox… and then got even more chickens. Went on a few trips as a family. Started learning canning and food preservation. Started a home group ministry with our church… I think that’s it.
When I look back I’m pretty disappointed with the lack of progress we’ve made this year, but we did spend about 3 months straight sick and down with health issues, we’ve had a new baby and we’ve homeschooled while we both work full time. We’ve also made huge strides in becoming an ingredient household and cooking from scratch… Im still hoping next year sees a lot more projects checked off the list.
And now I’ve used your comment section to become an author. Sorry!!
Evaporation is likely a big drain on your pond over the hot summer. Perhaps a few shade trees around the edge and water lillies might help? Its likely that the up-down cycle is just something you'll need to find ways to work with or around though. Instead of trying to prevent it, check out what opportunities a fluctuating water level can be used for 😊
Everything is a drain on this hobby farm. If you have lots of money, you can make something like this. If you want to be self sufficient, watch a different channel.
WHATTT!!!! A cooking channel. I don’t know how I missed this. Heading over to binge watch now….
Best wishes for 2025. Happy new year, guys.
Hi there Greetings from Iowa very enjoyable videos thanks for sharing your journey, I wish to have 1 or 2 Jersey cows some day, I actually have 8 nubian goats 10 chickens and 2 great Pyrenees dogs and I just enjoy my time there, just a question what's the name for the milker you use on your cow if can answer I will highly appreciate thanks in advance and God bless you.
I love the reflections you shared! Showing the areas that didn't work and that can use improvement help (at least me) see that others have learning expierences and that not everything works perfectly. Your wins for the year are huge and thank you for popping in and sharing with so many of us on our journies.
I’m so glad for you guys…
Happy new year 🎊🎊 to you all 🙏 God bless you all 🙏 take care
You’re so inspiring! You make me wanna get land & grow my own food! Praying Gods will bless you in 2025!
Happy New Years! I have been watching for years. Your channel inspired my brothers and I to buy a piece of property and build a compound/homstead together!
I LOVE THIS!!!!!!! Way to go! I wish (and still pray for) my family to come together to buy land. It is definitely the way to go.
Be proud! You are crushing it!!!!!!!!
What a great and inspiring video! We just moved to Tennessee to start our 22-acre homestead. We have 6 laying hens- about to get a rooster from one of my new friends & we got 4 Kunekune cross piglets. There's so much that we want to do, but we're still working out the details! Your video is such an inspiration & motivation for me- not only homestead wise, but in the aspects and quality of your video. I'm just beginning my TH-cam journey myself. I just subscribed & I look forward to following along on more of your videos!
That’s awesome! We’ve tried to do one each year and it actually encourages me bc it’s easy to get lost in all the details and forget how much we’ve done ❤️ Have so much fun while you dream and build and grow!
@BetterTogetherLife thank you so much. God bless. 😊
Awesome brother. Looks like your on the same journey we are. Its a lot of work but worth it.
It sure is a ton of work, isn't it? We're in the middle of our busiest season right now but wouldn't change it for the world! Thanks a bunch!!
Yes, they’re nothing like growing your own food and fresh cows milk, at least you know that what you eat are all from you and no additives.
A truly inspiring and beautiful year! I am waaaaay up north in Northern Alberta Canada so our growing season and homestead is a lot different 😂. But I follow most of you Southern gals and always find nuggets of pure gold! Happy New Year and thanks for this! ❤️
You are an amazing storyteller!
I just started following your channel and watched a couple of your videos. Greetings from Canada 🇨🇦 Love this story telling video. I'm learning and dreaming through you.
Thank you so so much!!!
Kelly, OMG! I gasped when you came out of the Rockdale, TX Post Office! I live about 12 minutes NW of Rockdale, on 908!!! We are so close!
Your video is amazing, I watched it and it made me gain a lot of knowledge from it.

Facts
Lovely
Honestly I love the Christ centeredness on all this, I am a farmer myself and we are looking forward to purchase exactly 7 acres of land and honestly I have been inspired by all that you are doing and sharing. Do you sell your milk or is just for family?
Wow thank you so much for your kind words! 😁😁
We just milk for our family, it’s illegal for us to sell milk. But we might some day get some goats in order to make soap and other products as those have lesser restrictions. “I think!” 🤣🤣
@BetterTogetherLife awesome! Keep up all you're doing. Love from Africa, Malawi!
Ok. I gotta know from someone who lives in Conroe, TX- which variety did you grow?
You GREW corn!! That is a big achievement because growing corn isn’t always easy. 😂
Well, we had to put up with worms, but just harvesting at the right time and cutting the ends off made it good. We grew a gem corn and sweet corn from Eden brothers.
Plant your overstock ducks on the pond for a year or two and their poo will plug the holes your pond might have. Peking poo plugs ponds.
Yup, that’s another tactic that we were thinking about. Just know that they will eat the remaining fish and really cause a havoc there. So it’s been our last option. But a great idea.
Happy new year. I'm still looking for land.
Nooice! 😎 STOC
Your pond. is there 2-4 inches of compacted clay in the bottom of it like Bamabass' pond?
his is 5 acres.
There is (I think). Going back to when it was created my contractor said it was some of the best clay dirt he has seen.
But, maybe something went wrong. Although it did great for a couple of years!
Could u share the product name of your pizza oven? ❤
haha, its the OONI. Here is the full video we made about it: th-cam.com/video/WUooaR4Ox7Y/w-d-xo.html
