It’s not her fault it is a such a mess. The people of Britain were lied to. You were told it would be simple and easy, it isn’t, you were told Britain would be richer and more prosperous, she isn’t and you were also told that we the 27 other countries would roll over and give in to your ludicrous demands- we won’t. This is how it was always going to be and now May is tasked with making a submarine out of cheese. Theresa May negotiated the best deal possible for Britain and yet the parliament rejected it.

What people need to realise is that a no deal Brexit isn't going to be a no deal forever. However, what a no deal will do is to force the EU negotiators to the table with a new sense of realism and a determination to start negotiating rather than making constant demands and just saying no to all UK government proposals. The German economy, the supposed economic powerhouse of the EU is now technically in a recession. France is bearing no better and most of the other big economies within the EU are more-or-less bankrupt. The UK offers a vast and lucrative market for EU trade and the German, French and Italian car manufacturers along with all the fruit and vegetable suppliers, the wine, beer and cheese makers will all be quaking in their boots at the prospect of a no deal Brexit. We have already seen the EU negotiators starting to back peddle when Mrs May's deal was overwhelmingly rejected and the prospect of a no deal looms ever likely. Furthermore, the UK government should simply reject any form of an Irish border backstop by saying that they have no intention of putting in place any border checks between the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland. If there are to be border checks then let the Republic of Ireland put them in place and we will see just how far it gets them. As far as I am concerned, any threat to a return to violence in Northern Ireland after Brexit is nothing more than scaremongering. Even the recent car bomb explosion isn't a real return to the bad old days of the troubles - it is rather an attempt to create concern over Northern Ireland and Brexit - so in effect, it is a rather dramatic attempt at scaremongering.

This is a huge mess... An impossible situation, really. As an outsider with an unbiased point of view, I see no possible solution to this completely avoidable problem. Why was the Referendum's question so vague? Leave won, but nobody really knows what 'leave' means or what do the majority of brexiteers want. People were immensely lied to, but that happens at any point where there is an election. If people have poor judgement, they can't really complain about the outcomes of their actions. Many remainers didn't even vote because they thought they couldn't possibly lose. Now they cry and demand a second referendum. Play by the rules, that is how democracy works. It really would set a dangerous precedent should the house agree to hold a second referendum where 'remain' would most likely win. The EU is never going to give May enough for a deal that MP's would agree upon. That is just not happening. A 'no deal' scenario would probably be damaging to the UK, so that is not ideal either. The thing is, some people voted to leave and wanted no deal whatsoever when they voted, regardless of the outcome being ideal or not. Others voted to leave because they believed such a scenario was not the plan. The way I see it, the only way forward would be to respect the result of the first referendum by assuring that Brexit is going to happen, but holding another referendum where there is no 'remain' option. The government has to know what the people actually want in order to be able to apply democracy. A referendum where people can choose among the government's viable Brexit options, such as May's Deal, Norway, Canada+, No Deal, and whatever else there is, might be the right way to approach this, at least from this outsider's point of view.
She could step down at any time she wants. She's entirely at fault here, just too stubborn to fuck off and has decided to hold the country at ransom with her shitty deal. Fuck Theresa May.
so she's essentially ploughing on with her deal (with a couple of very minor tweaks) even after the worst defeat in modern parliamentary history it's too ridiculous to be hilarious

And why? We all know why . . . . You hypocrisy is *astonishing*.
Why haven't MP's been included in cross-party talks before now? It should have been a priority from the start... before Article 50 was even invoked instead of jumping head first and seemingly spending the last 18 months faffing around with sound bites and promises that they knew would leave us in this mess where no one knows what is happening! Consultation should have been conducted before A50 was invoked . Public discussion should have been led with the figures produced by the civil service and treasury which has all pointed to us being worse off in the short and medium term if we end up leaving the customs union. With regards to the whole registering of EU nationals and having to pay was an absolute farce to begin with! The fact that the government thought that this was a good idea in the start; along with ferry-less ferry companies, stockpiling of medication and scares about the economy have already shown that teh government hasn't actually had a clue what they are doing, jumping head first into a ill considered decision. The couldn't organise a piss up in a brewery, let alone this!
Its not a negotiation by committee, thats why we have elected governments. The ONLY reason were in a mess is because we dont have a majority government to push the whole thing through without interference from spinless remoaner traitors.
@@manoo422 I think the govt. Have shown how incompetent they are in reality. If it was such a good idea, they'd have support of the house. If they had seriously considered how negotiations would go and kept promises by ministers stating that trade deals would be easy and the the EU would need to bend over backwards to accommodate our demands. Two years of negotiation with EU members to try and figure out what might happen before A50 to ensure that we would be better off would have been preferable. The free trade agreement that has grown into an overweight bully is downright dangerous. We are in the position of a lady engaged to an abuser who is in the charming stage but shows signs of brutality. I voted leave because the free trade agreement is growing like an octopus. This is the best it will get. The worst is yet to come, and it will be a lot worse. It didn't take 2 years to negotiate this 'deal'. It took 2 years to procrastinate and water down the 'leave' and pay massively. All we need to do is leave. Will the world come to an end? No, just the EU. We have many alternatives and to deny it is to drink the kool-aid.
Great Briton I can’t understand why Brexiteers ever thought that this process would be simple and painless. It takes a long time to negotiate deals like this. Us Europeans will have the last laugh when Britain ends up mirroring EU rules and regulations without the benefits of the EU itself.
@@johnjohansson6277 Surely nobody expected it to be painless, it's like cutting out a tumour without going under anaesthetic. Even if May wanted to leave, even if she had taken direct action on it, we would still be struggling through the process - but at least we would be struggling through the process! What May has done instead is to prevaricate, delay, procrastinate, yield to the EU and generally in every way possible sabotage Brexit. We are further back now than we were after the vote to leave. The reason? The EU does not want us to leave, because the EU is not about better economy but about more power. Remember, this is just a free trade agreement! How did it come to want its own army?! An agreement that costs the UK £20 billion per year effectively. But the financial cost is nothing. The loss of the right to rule ourselves is far, far, far more important. Remember when a country goes under the cosh of a dictator, there is only one escape, a neighbouring country. When the EU takes the iron hand out of the velvet glove, there will be nowhere to turn for its members. Only the useful idiots trust power amalgamation. Unfortunately we have plenty of those, who have never seen or heard of Nationalsozialismus - all they know is mobile phones and a monthly pay check. PS One thing a free England would never do is mirror the ridiculous EU rules and regulations. It will take you some time to realise those are a) cost-benefit ineffective and b) power grabs. When you do, it will be too late.
Great Briton Firstly, May has no choice but to give in to the EU on some issues as the EU is in a far stronger negotiating position. Secondly, the UK will have to mirror EU rules (in a no-deal scenario) and regulations as 53 % of UK exports are to EU countries and because you can’t check what is coming through the Irish border.
Benedict is a pansy name change my mind. Also yeah it's a bad move to leave eu those people so eager to leave now are going to be bitching about the job loss that comes with a shrinking economy
Everyone is always shouting "leave means leave" and "They are destroying our democracy" but what does that even mean? The referendum said that the majority wants to leave the EU but it said nothing about how that majority wants to leave. As far as I see it there are 3 camps in the leave group (no deal, leaving with a minimal trade deal, leaving the union but staying in the single market). I can imagine that a large number of people expecting to get an 'easy deal' or expected to be staying within the single market do not want to leave without a deal at all, so how is that for democracy? Why would a second referendum for what type of deal be so bad? And why does everyone think leaving a WTO terms is so good? I am by no means an expert on trade agreements but from what I can tell it appears to be a bad trading positions to be in, especially considering the EU probably isn't going to be handing out "good" deals.
No deal please. Its what I voted for. Then go back in a position of strength. Sick of this catastrophic BS. I do not fear no deal, I fear staying in the EU.
The same strength of all Brit's for the last 500 years, that have done fine without the forced regulations of the EU.. Duhh, I'm American and I know that much at least

So I feel passionately about restoring to people their right to farm, to fish, to earn a living, and to live free - free of the dictatorial bureaucracy that binds the lion with strings upon strings, free of the leeching under false promises, and free of the artificial court that forces the people into a one-size-fits all morality and religion. But most of all, free of the tyranny which is yearning to burst its bounds. Most disturbing to me is the clear use of force, of persuasion, of threats and propaganda. What lies behind this is terrifying to conjecture. What started as a free trade agreement now looks like a monster. We should not lie down, afraid of what is under the bed. If it can no longer be put back into its place, it must be put outside. I do not believe that the costs will be nearly so high as the Europhiles maintain, nevertheless, whatever the cost, the English people will be better off free than enslaved, being able to self-determine their own laws and their future.

Are you stupid? look at the data please before making such a dumb comment. I would advise you at the conditions of a no deal compared to the current deal and theresa may's proposed deal. A no deal would shrink the british economy by 8% on the first year and by up to 20 over time. May's current deal would shrink it by 6% in the first year and by 15% over time. Any deal leaving the single market would shrink the UK economy. The question is how much shrinkage is appropriate to gain the security over the borders? Is you want 0% shrinkage(also growth) dont leave the EU. If you want complete security go for no deal. There are various versions of brexit which could provide for a brexit and security but not to much of an impact on the union. But it should be remembered that Britan currently has the best deal in the union.

There is always Misinformation on every election on both sides mate, can't just have a second vote all the time, we all know politicians lie on both sides of any argument so you have to research and read yourself and make your own choice what you thinks best
Sadly this is what happens when you let the general public vote on something that no one fully understands with opinions built on years of miss-leading and false information on both sides. Then add the UKs incompetent and self serving MPs into the equation and you end up with the current mess. Democracy only works if you can make decisions based on facts not beliefs and rhetoric. The whole Brexit thing was handled badly from the start so this situation was inevitable.

Brexit is a textbook example of why referendums are never a good way to decide policy unless they are done right. A single referendum in isolation is simply a snapshot of the public mood. If there were to be a referendum on bringing back hanging in the middle of a period of sensational child murders, then it is highly like the vote result would be influenced by that. Holding the EU referendum during the height of the Syrian refugee crisis, record levels of terrorist attacks and the Greece economic collapse had an impact. A real referendum should have always had parameters that needed to be met. No... a 4% difference is not a mandate. The British public should have always been given a chance to change its mind at each stage of the process and a final vote once the reality of leaving had become clear.
@Arnie2-D2 So why don't we hear about this option in the house ? And its not leaning soft brexit. Nor a re-second-referendum, Its asking how drastical you want it. Everybody happier. (I'm just a foreign onlooker)
@Arnie2-D2 Hi Arnie; I don´t think its betrayel to go back to the people to ask how radical they want to part from the EU. Its also recognizing and abiding to the democratic descision to leave the EU. What we see now is maybe just the contitutional procedure. And time is running out. But time shouldn´t be a constraint to this important historic isue. (note that a people deserves the leadership they voted for). (populistic or otherwise). Personaly all this made me reconsider the value of a referendum with this weight. Don't we vote for representatives who specialise in their field for a good reason ?
@Arnie2-D2 Its a painfull period with apparently only loosers on the short term. Strange that one half of a population can decide for the other half. Is that democratic ? Guess its better up to the choosen government to rule and get elected every few years. Seems populist politicians banked on the strong forces "underbelly emotions" of "us and them" can evoke. We see it in the USA too. I wished GB kept a strong voice within the EU. Neighbours are better of if they work together, but not to any price , I know. Fascinating too watch the world turn from here. Cheerio.......k
What are the official UK statistics with regards to the percentage of those eligible UK voters who'd support staying in the EU (under the terms of the agreement reached by David Cameron with the EU) over leaving it without a deal or with the leaving deal reached by Theresa May with the EU? In particular, is that figure higher than 50%?

This woman has some sort of malfunction when it comes to how unique she is. NO is different! No abortion and no gay marriage. She couldn't care less.
Plan B should have been plan A nearly 3 years ago. That is the reason we are in this mess. She now proposes to find out what people want after she apparently negotiated. I am suspicious Plan A was to delay where remainging was the only option. If an acceptable deal is not possible we walk away. Its the same buying something like a car. If the dealers price is too high, or the purchasers expectation is to low, walk away no more to pay. As l understand it there is no legal obligation to pay the EU anything, so why are they talking about spending 39 billion pounds of our money. If she feels morally obliged then let her and her cronies pay from their own money. To pay ours is illegal. For too long politicians like spending other peoples money at our expense , not theirs. No acceptable terms means we leave. Short term pain for bigger long term gain. 39 million pays for much pain relief.
Keep everything as it is. Give the UK control of it's laws. Problem solved. Don't understand where this complexity has evolved from. It's a simple decision with results beneficial to both parties. If we crash out of Europe. The EU will lose BILLIONS. It's on no island to negotiate.

Even the recent car bomb explosion isn't a real return to the bad old days of the troubles - it is rather an attempt to create concern over Northern Ireland and Brexit - so in effect, it is a rather dramatic attempt at scaremongering.

well said - happy to support anyone fighting to save our democracy.
@Steve McQueen no but we can chop up the traitors. Plenty of those, the UK doesn't really have a constitution anyway. The city of London proves that.

The Brits cannot extend Article 50 whether there is a deal or not. The EU will not allow it.

There are various versions of brexit which could provide for a brexit and security but not to much of an impact on the union. guy on her right is falling asleep
if brexit is so bad, why do you need a deal?
Too much vanity in the parliament and government. Completely useless in solving real issues people face day to day.
Syrian refugees? They're all comi g from Africa and other middle eastern countries
I dont know why British opposite of Theresa May❤❤
Why not let the people decide between a "no deal"- and a "soft"- brexit ?
@Arnie2-D2 So why don't we hear about this option in the house ?
And its not leaning soft brexit. Nor a re-second-referendum, Its asking
how drastical you want it. Everybody happier.
(I'm just a foreign onlooker)
@Arnie2-D2 Hi Arnie; I don´t think its betrayel to go back to the people
to ask how radical they want to part from the EU. Its also recognizing
and abiding to the democratic descision to leave the EU.
What we see now is maybe just the contitutional procedure.
And time is running out. But time shouldn´t be a constraint to this
important historic isue. (note that a people deserves the leadership they voted for). (populistic or otherwise). Personaly all this made me reconsider
the value of a referendum with this weight. Don't we vote for representatives
who specialise in their field for a good reason ?
@Arnie2-D2 Its a painfull period with apparently only loosers on the
short term. Strange that one half of a population can decide for
the other half. Is that democratic ? Guess its better up to the choosen
government to rule and get elected every few years. Seems populist
politicians banked on the strong forces "underbelly emotions" of
"us and them" can evoke. We see it in the USA too. I wished GB kept
a strong voice within the EU. Neighbours are better of if they work
together, but not to any price , I know. Fascinating too watch the world
turn from here.
May: "I'm sure Parliament will join me in condemning the car bomb attack in Londonderry"
Corbyn: *Sweating*
For once she actually appeared quite sincere here
May Brexit V134.345.2a will be ready for release early next week. If you have installed previous versions to your test environment there is no need to update as the current and any future packages are identical except for the packaging which will be changed to reflect the marketing departments revisions.
... so basically plan B is just to try to find a plan B...?
What she means is that her Government stands with the DUP as long as they support her, and she's perfectly happy to keep quiet about NI having no working Assembly, and no mandate for Brexit. This woman has some sort of malfunction when it comes to how unique she is. NO is different! No abortion and no gay marriage. She couldn't care less.
If life gives you lemons, you try make orange juice and if that doesn't work try making orange juice again.
As a side note: defund the BBC!
Father, your kingdom come thy will be done. on earth as it is in Heaven. In Britain and the World. Amen.
Oh yeah yeah
Keep everything as it is. Give the UK control of it's laws. Problem solved. Don't understand where this complexity has evolved from. It's a simple decision with results beneficial to both parties. If we crash out of Europe. The EU will lose BILLIONS. It's on no island to negotiate.
