Yay again to Oregon getting a Blue Cactus goat! I hope you soaked in all of the greenery while you were there. Mistakes happen but you have a lot on your plate. I feel sorry for the person that didn’t get that GORGEOUS doe though!
100% Agree....you did it and you owned up to it. I'd go one step further and let the person who didn't get her goat have first choice next year. That's how you keep a great reputation. It happens! The good thing is, you KNOW those babies are in great homes and at the end of the day, that's all you really want it to make sure that your "babies" go to safe and loving homes.
That last comment I think I jumped the gun, you have shown being professional kind, and realizing your mistake it was up to you guys to decide what to do. I didn't mean to say she should pay for goat your doing a great job derek😊😉☺️
Aw, what a bummer, but lucky lady on the extra girl! Love my little Ghibli Bessie/Vader buck and wish I could have thanked you in person but glad my husb got to. ❤ Appreciate you guys so much!
Things happen Derek. One time, U do so much, it was bound to happen one time or another. U still Rock, and U do Great Work. We All Love U Anyway. Keep it Pushing, and Keep the Joy!
Derek, I love Blue Cactus goats and look forward to enjoying seeing your lives and births etc. as an observer. Brings a whole new look to reading the book HEIDI, and how they cared for goats. I respect and honor your professionalism handling this mixup. Since I'm a retired Quality Manager, I have what I hope is received by you and readers as a gentle suggestion: for a mistake proof step, Add an inspection at delivery: use the goatling's ear tatoos to verify the right goat goes with the right paperwork. You know which lineage goes to whom when planning your trips. Love your channel and look forward to EVERY new posting!
So you went through 395 to Oregon.. Umatilla area. Irrigon is our day trip when we go there. We take the back road from Prosser to Patterson just for the view. I am super sure Cheryl has forgiven you. Safe travels!
Oh Derek, sos so sorry to hear you having to go this. You n Crystal are correcting it correctly, just too bad the lady couldn't accept the mistake. Tough call. Tough on you. Well, once a lifetime, you are still AWESOME, God gives you broad shoulders to shoulder mistakes. I love traveling with you guys, the scenery, the meetings, your humor, your narrations. Rock On Derek!!!!!
I love that you are honoring your commitment. Mistakes happen, its part of life. Sucks for the woman that did not get her goat, but breedng programs are important, so I understand why she did not want the goat that didnt fit in. Love that you are giving her a full refund, including transport. Love that you are also giving the first woman her dream goat.
Stuff happens. Your mistake will be a lesson on how to improve for next time. Need to put collars on goats with their name and the persons name. Like a hospital band. Beautiful scenery.
Good idea! ... (but I can visualize those pesky babies chewing them off of each other, lol). Crystal DID have their photos on the paperwork. These two babies had VERY similar markings. Mistakes can happen!
We all make mistakes. I would not be able to keep any of the little goaties. We learn from our mistakes, you can mark that up for a learning experience. I have faith it will be the one and only mistake ever. Your all awesome and it was all made up to everyone. Your good people
Derek, EVERYONE MAKES MISTAKES!!! You are doing the EXACT RIGHT thing by your customers and yourselves. Honor in business is hard to find. When I am ready I will definitely be purchasing my first goats from Blue Cactus!!!
First time you did that. I say good job. You love them goats and it shows. The stones say it best. You can't always get what you want But you get what you need. Love to you and your fam6😅
The Columbia never fails to leave me in awe! I live in Spokane and whenever I drive over to the West side, I'm always struck when I come up on the Columbia at Vantage, having just spent a few hours driving through the high desert to get there. As I come up to the edge of the bluff and head down into the gorge, I always think of what it would be like as a pioneer, coming upon the Columbia after walking for days and seeing that massive expanse of river, knowing I'm going to have to cross it somewhere. There's an amphitheater in George that sits above the gorge, with a view of the river. Sitting there at sunset; listening to music; the wind blowing up from the river ... I've gone there for a concert every year for the past 17 years and I get butterflies in my stomach every time. Seeing the Columbia never gets old!
Ouch, that was a biggie. So, it proves you are human just like the rest of us. I don't have any goats right now, but on other animals I've used ID collars (or just colors) especially when I had 2 that were very similar in markings. Once, my husband knew I was purchasing a new horse, but I came home with 2. I rotated them in the pasture and it took him months to figure out there were 2 different horses LOL. He'd have figured it out sooner had I put collars on them.
Mistakes unfortunately are a part of human lives. You, Crystal and the purchaser came to a quick resolution. Falling in love with a baby, even be it a goat, can be fast and eternal. So sorry for the purchaser whom lost out. I'm sure Crystal came up with a new plan for the grieving purchaser. Honest salesman like you two these days are hard to come by. Keep up the great work!!
I have to commend you both for your honesty. Some others may have not said anything especially because the person who got her didn't notice. Well done!
You had to bite the bullet on that one. You made one family joyously happy & your purse strings hurt on the trip & exchange. Life happens & we often wonder why. It sure was not planned. God bless you with safe traveling mercies.
You worked out good solutions for the mistake, expensive to you, but fair to buyers! Mistaking goats that look so much alike is very understandable! I'm sure you have plans in place so it won't happen again! That last doeling is beautiful and I'm so glad the lady who bought her is going to get her afterall! I really enjoy the goat delivery videos and the scenery along the way, and your commentary!
Well the mistake was fixed as best as possible; that's a steep price to pay. But, I think BCDG get's high marks in customer service in resolving a mixup. 👍 Hey, at least the drive is beautiful! 💙🌵🐐 Derek: "...you know what I mean lil buddy." Bessy Buckling: 'sometimes ya wanna knaw on metal.' 😅
Well Derrick 💩 happens..🤷🏼♀️ life goes on.. Take care dont beat yourself up too badly... Safe travels..Enjoy sight seeing in Oregon my home state.. ❤🙋🏼♀️🐈🐕
You’re human Derek. Consider this an error you know would never happen again. That’s the issue, you making the drive to correct the error is punishment enough for you.
"I gave somebody the wrong goat". A sentence I could only find on this channel! I am sorry this happened to you guys. It is so great that you guys owned up to the mistake and are making it right by all parties and making your customers happy. Don't beat yourself up too badly, and don't listen to the people on here saying you shouldn't give Allie two goats. There may have been a reason this happened like this, and later on in hindsight, it won't be a thing! Good luck and be safe Derek.
I love your absolute honesty. You made a mess of it and then owened up to it. Its hard to swallow the costs especially in these times, gas alone in different places is expensive. Hope your next run is smoother. Mistakes happen. Live and learn. Dont let it darken your mood to long.
Oh Derek you do so much, Don't beat yourself up for a mistake. It sucks and I'm sure it makes you feel sick to your stomach. But you are making it right. Now you know you won't make that mistake again. What a beautiful state 😍
You know what? Thought that is what happened. When you said Crystal and your son were trying to contact you, I thought that was the reason. Things happen and of course it would be a nightmare. It’s done so don’t beat yourself any longer. Happy trails singing cowboy. 😊🇨🇦
I can totally understand the heart drop... That would be a huge fear for me! Knowing that you fixed the mistake as best as you were able, is ALL you can do! As a fellow farmer but also business owner, we are human...we make mistakes unfortunately. A thought would be to have collars on each goat with names of them AND the name/place of the buyer. Just to cut out any possibility for whoopsies. 😊
It's great of you guys! It's nice to support honest people like you guys! Allie had the best mother's day for sure! Piper won Junior Grand Champion 🏆 🥇 right?! Piper is a future Grand Champion. So Allie got really lucky! ❤
Derek and Crystal, your online followers love you so much because of your integrity and wonderful family values. Thanks for correcting the mix up and not violating any health laws. The buyers I am sure are buying to improve their bloodlines and don't want to introduce a mistake. Whatever good you put out there in the universe is returned to you triple fold. Stay well!
It was so great to see you take such joy in the mighty Columbia River! That is my neck of the woods and I’ve traveled that bridge many many times. So many in fact I’ve forgotten to roll down my windows and take in the vast beauty God has given us. Thank you for reminding me of a treasure that is right here under my nose. Every time I cross this bridge for the rest of my life I will think of you and your reaction. 😊❤
I don’t understand how the SLC person didn’t realize you handled her the wrong coat. Dolly is beautiful with such pretty blue eyes. Derek, everyone makes mistakes. I am sorry the ladies couldn’t except the mistake and be happy with the goat they ended up with. Stop kicking yourself. Mistakes happen. Hugs
Mistakes happen, we are human. Time to develop a protocol to identify the goats with their paperwork and the new owners verify, such as : collar collar, colour markings and eye colour and lastly tattoo. My purebred puppies were identified with first collar colour then scanning of their tattoo and then the breeder and I signed off on ownership .
I would’t give the lady in Salt Lake a free goat due to her not understanding the mistake. Now the other lady doesnt get the goat she wanted being the not understanding woman get what she wants & someone elses goat for free. If it was me i would undersyand & say oh well mistakes happen im just GRATEFULL i was able to buy a Blue cactus goat !!
i agree. You'd soon get over it. It was a few hours not months. Lady who is getting free goat please understand the error and give back the wrong goat.
@@patriciaclark409 I absolutely understand we really don’t know how much time in between drop off’s. I think they should have gotten the wrong goat back from the lady & not reward her with a free goat. I would’ve offered the woman who completely lost getting a goat that opportunity to take it. If I was the woman who missed out on getting a goat and yeah she got a refund which that is the logical way to do it but I would’ve been furious at the woman who got a free goat just because it wasn’t the one she picked out. Funny thing is she would never have known that she had the wrong goat if Crystal wouldn’t have noticed what had happened. The biggest question is if the shoe was on the other foot and the woman in Utah had made that mistake would she have done the same thing Crystal and Derik did?
columbia river gorge ..my favorite highway.. theres 2 highways i 84 oregon side and hwy 14 on washington side. santa cruz i used to live there. gotta love the redwoods and PCH. hey...shit happens. we are only human..glad you huys made it right and hope the lady in Montana is forgiving. safe travels
I really hope the woman pays for her goat. You made a mistake. Human thing. You will correct that mistake, 'cos you're honest. The work you put in earning a living is worth being paid for. I am sure we would all fall in love with a baby goat. But if you keep it, you pay the people who get out of their way - quite literally - to make things right. You're good people, Blue Cactus family. Thank you for everything you do and share with us.
Had to be a heart breaking situation your in. I feel for you. But you did what was right in the long one. Growing up I’m sure you heard if you don’t make mistakes you can’t learn. Next time you’ll have a helper with you. Careful nephew on the rest of the trip.
Oh my but none of us are perfect we all make mistakes it happens a lesson learned 😊 with all the deliveries of goats you have done.we all still love you ❤and crystal and the kids etc... dont be hard on yourself!
OMG, You just mentioned my home, Santa Cruz, CA. Well actually I live in Felton which is in Santa Cruz Cnty. 9miles and 15 min from the famous Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk. If you, or Crystal, are ever in my next of the woods again hit me up. I live in a cabin in a redwood forest. There's so much to see and do here in our little county. My cabin is small and rustic, but always has room for visitors. FYI, love Montana, I've family in Livingston. I, knew what freeway you were driving in MT as my husband and I traveled it many times. My BFF used to live in The Dallas OR. Her husband worked for Bonneville Lock and dam. Never ceases to amaze me with a small world we do truly live in. Don't be so hard on yourself accidents happen. In my experience it usually turns out to be the best thing in the long run. Enjoy the journey.... ❤
Ya know what Derek, wether you realize it or not, what you just experienced is traumatizing. Things happen and you need to forgive yourself. Doesn’t change what a good man you are! You made an honest mistake. I’m going to pray over you about the trauma, but just go forward . There is no one on the face of the earth that hasn’t made a mistake. In a while y’all will be laughing about it. I know it doesn’t make you feel any better but it’s life and it happens. Father I pray over Derek that you would remove any trauma he has suffered because of this mistake and free him up Lord, in Jesus name. The devil would love to beat you up because of this but that’s not going to happen unless you let him. All of us out here really care about you and Crystal and the kids. So we are going to be sympathetic to you and try our best to encourage you. I send blessings to you from OKC. ❤ I hope you don’t mind me praying over you. I usually do that in a private message. Who knows , maybe other Christian’s will agree with the prayer and that will help even more. I’m sorry you feel so bad about it. Just shows what a good man you are! Have a better weekend. ❤
@carolynnance2376 Carolyn, I have read almost all of the comments to Derek, and your comment gave me goose bumps!! Your Comment is so Heart Warming and Beautiful !! I Loved your Prayer, and yes, I prayed it for Derek as well !!! You are right about the devil, he would love to beat Derek up. Derek, I hope you had time to read Carolyn's comment. Your Honesty in this situation will prosper way into the future for Blue Cactus!!! Derek, Chrystal, Darren, and Emily are all Super Great Honest People and it is to bad that there aren't a lot more companies (of all trades) that could carry these Excellent Traits in their Business!! God Bless the Blue Cactus Family, as well as Carolyn and her Family!!! ❤️🙏🏼❤️🙏🏼❤️
Don't beat yourself up over it. We all make mistakes. At least you owned it and are trying to make it right. Hopefully, the person who lost out on her goat will get another one next year( for free? Or at least a big discount! ). On another note I was sitting here watching this video wishing I was in that truck with you. Those mountains were beautiful and im quite sure the camera doesn't do it justice. That you so much for sharing these views with us. I'm sure I'm not the only one who'll never have gotten to see it otherwise. Stay safe. Safe travels. GOD BLESS!
Oh no, what a bummer!!! Mistakes happen! Don’t beat yourself up so badly!!! I don’t believe in luck. Just think of all of the goats you have delivered with not one hitch! You have a pretty good track record.
I was afraid it was identity issue! So sorry sir! It hurts to admit and fix a mistake, but you will be able to look yourself in the mirror! You are a good man!
Derik that’s a honest mistake you made all them beautiful baby goats 🐐 it sad that the lady in Montana not wanting the goat she wanted. I would be happy with whatever goat 🐐 you would bring me..❤❤❤
I was wondering the same thing. It makes sense to give her the # draft pick before they did the raffle part. And maybe even a discount for the inconvenience of having to wait a year. The other lady got a free goat so I would think a discount wouldn't be too much.
Wow Montana is gorgeous!
Yay again to Oregon getting a Blue Cactus goat! I hope you soaked in all of the greenery while you were there. Mistakes happen but you have a lot on your plate. I feel sorry for the person that didn’t get that GORGEOUS doe though!
I’ve been to Montana and you’re absolutely right! It’s breathtaking when you’re actually there
This is how all businesses should operate. I admire your honesty and integrity.
Sometimes everyone makes mistakes… it is what it is ❤
100% Agree....you did it and you owned up to it. I'd go one step further and let the person who didn't get her goat have first choice next year. That's how you keep a great reputation. It happens! The good thing is, you KNOW those babies are in great homes and at the end of the day, that's all you really want it to make sure that your "babies" go to safe and loving homes.
I was afraid it was the wrong goat but was hoping not. Everyone makes mistakes. We’re not perfect. Bless your heart Derek.
You all do a great job iam staying a prayer for yall to have a safe trip home 😊
That last comment I think I jumped the gun, you have shown being professional kind, and realizing your mistake it was up to you guys to decide what to do. I didn't mean to say she should pay for goat your doing a great job derek😊😉☺️
I sorry for that know you will make it right things get wrong I hope yall have a great safe trip
You do so much driving I’m not surprised this finally happened!
Aw, what a bummer, but lucky lady on the extra girl! Love my little Ghibli Bessie/Vader buck and wish I could have thanked you in person but glad my husb got to. ❤ Appreciate you guys so much!
No what decision, you are good people.
Look at it this way Derek. You got it out of the way and I'll bet it never happens again, right? You still rock!
Don't be hard on yourself Derek - one out of how many goats you've delivered? All is well! I'm just glad you share these videos with us.
That is fantastic customer service! Mistakes happen, you owned up to it and made it right
Things happen Derek.
It's OK Derek you are only human ❤️ ♥️ thank heaps from Ronnie ❤❤from Geelong Vic Australia ❤❤❤❤
Don’t kick yourself too much, being human, we make mistakes and in the process, you doubled the happiness of a very lucky woman!
By the way, if you are ever in Louisiana and need a chauffeur, count me in! The areas you show are magnificent!
So you went through 395 to Oregon.. Umatilla area. Irrigon is our day trip when we go there. We take the back road from Prosser to Patterson just for the view. I am super sure Cheryl has forgiven you. Safe travels!
She's beautiful ❤️. So hungry... thanks for sharing your adventures with us. We do enjoy it 😁. Love you guys 💞
You have done a great job. Rewards will come to when you least expect them to. I like the tags idea. Kind of like they do with babies!
Derek the blame can't all be on you. . They should have A.
Picture of the goat they bought that way. They know exactly which one they're getting.
Stuff happens. Your mistake will be a lesson on how to improve for next time. Need to put collars on goats with their name and the persons name. Like a hospital band. Beautiful scenery.
Perfect solution when you have goats that are the same color and have very similar markings.
Good idea! ... (but I can visualize those pesky babies chewing them off of each other, lol). Crystal DID have their photos on the paperwork. These two babies had VERY similar markings. Mistakes can happen!
Definitely a good idea for the future. I seem to remember they used to have collars but not with their names…maybe I’m remembering wrong.
I was raised in MT for 10 years in Miles City
Life happens. do not beat yourself up. You could get collars and tags with names and put them on before you leave home
We all make mistakes. I would not be able to keep any of the little goaties. We learn from our mistakes, you can mark that up for a learning experience. I have faith it will be the one and only mistake ever. Your all awesome and it was all made up to everyone. Your good people

Now delivering goats.. give yourself some grace.
Facinating travels. You passed right by where I lived.

Poor Derek. That's rough. Good luck with the rest.

Just remember. We are all human., and the only people who don't make mistakes are people who don't do anything.
❤️🙏🏼❤️🙏🏼❤️
Neck tags with the new owners name on it works…no more nightmares…lol
You have a pretty good track record.
oh no...I had a feeling that was the big mistake. I am sure it is hard to tell some of them apart.
Color coded collars!
I was afraid it was identity issue! So sorry sir! It hurts to admit and fix a mistake, but you will be able to look yourself in the mirror! You are a good man!
That's absolutely breathtaking.
What a beautiful state!I hope that yhe rest of your trip goes well.☺️🐐
Derik that’s a honest mistake you made all them beautiful baby goats 🐐 it sad that the lady in Montana not wanting the goat she wanted. I would be happy with whatever goat 🐐 you would bring me..❤❤❤
Is it possible to put numbers of delivery on a goat collar to help.
So glad that’s all it was a mix up ! I was really hoping it wasn’t anything major !
Oh he is really going to town on that. Good Morning. So cute. Lol on the truck stop liking.
She's a real beauty.
Great customer service!!!!
❤😂🎉Absolutely 💯 Beautiful
So does the other lady get first pick next year (if she wants one) or does she miss out altogether (I mean she got the refund)
I was wondering the same thing. It makes sense to give her the # draft pick before they did the raffle part. And maybe even a discount for the inconvenience of having to wait a year. The other lady got a free goat so I would think a discount wouldn't be too much.
Everyone was taken care of and happy with the end resolve :)
@@BlueCactusDairyGoats at least everyone is happy unfortunately mistakes happen we are only Human at the end of the day
Name tags may help in the future? Don't beat yourself up so hard, mistakes happen and your heart is in the right place.❤
