Lyrics:
To the hiddip the hop ya don't stop (don't stop)
Das EFX with the real hip-hop (hip hop)
To the hiddip the hop ya don't quit (don't quit)
Das EFX and we came to rip sh*t (rip sh*t )
Well on your mark and get set, can't forget to go
In case you didn't know the flow is Fat like Joe (like Joe)
Yo, you niggedy-know that I'm back man
You're wack man, I eat a rapper like I'm Pac Man
I briggedy-bring it, straight from the cellar
Fo' realla, packin' more hits than Lou Piniella
I swell a, n*gga in his eye if he test me
You don't impress me, a-yo Books kick the rest, G
Uh, one time for your mind
Ayo what up it's the crew bringing the ruckus, no doubt
We's the roughest dream team, Reign Supreme like a Cutlass
Getting duckets, the dough, you can't touch the flow
It's me, the n*gga wit' G, the B double O K-S
So say yes and bust your caliber
When I pop sh*t and rock sh*t like Metallica
Stakes through the hearts of them snake fake n*ggas
Them all up in my face, jealous of my tape n*ggas
So honey shake your figures and show me whatcha got
(Blow the spot) Das EFX with the Real Hip-Hop
To the hiddip the hop ya don't stop (don't stop)
Das EFX with the real hip-hop (hip hop)
To the hiddip the hop ya don't quit (don't quit)
Das EFX and we came to rip sh*t (rip sh*t)
Iggedy-okie-dokie
Next n*gga to quote me
I hope he got more Miracles than Smokey
Won't be no discussion, strictly head crushing
Lead rushin' through your body
You're in my Dangerfield like Rodney
Howdy, I'll back up in that a*s, G, kaplowie
And now we got the game to a Tee like Howie
Allow me, to introduce myself and my peeps
Straight from the sewer, stayin' true to the streets
Well it's me, Krazy Drayz, bringin' up the rear
I swear, we got to Hold It Down e'ry year
So there, let me crack a beer and kick my feet up
Turn the heat up and smiggedy-smoke all the weed up
Kids I eat up, wit' a style that's the newest
My crew is, getting more run than Carl Lewis
It's from the sewers now ya see me on the top
So stop and recognize the n*ggas on ya block
To the hiddip the hop ya don't stop (don't stop)
Das EFX with the real hip-hop (hip hop)
To the hiddip the hop ya don't quit (don't quit)
Das EFX and we came to rip sh*t (rip sh*t)
Ayo, MC's is irrelevant, and delicate to the texture
But this style of mine is well defined like Webster
Ain't a badder n*gga raw from the jaw than the Jabber-Jibber
When I get Stone like Sharon from Sliver
Equipped to riggedy-rip the microphone to shreds
Dread, yo come and hit these n*ggas in the head
Well I connect my rhymes like Lego, so l'eggo my Eggo
I burn ya like Waco, you need more than Maaco
I take it to ya crew and keep 'em moving like I'm U-Haul
I'm here to school y'all figgedy-faggots like RuPaul
I throw a screwball and strike out the MC
And if he temps me, I knock em out like Jack Dempsey
I burn some sensi and chase it wit' a Guinness
The illest, now hit me with the hook because I'm finished
To the hiddip the hop ya don't stop (don't stop)
Das EFX with the real hip-hop (hip hop)
To the hiddip the hop ya don't quit (don't quit)
Das EFX and we came to rip sh*t (rip sh*t)

Pete Rock went so hard with this beat that I don’t even bother listening to the original anymore.
Pete Rock is The only man who can make the remix better than the original
agree but Premo beat was as good as Pete's on this one.
A lot of remixes were better than the original. Pete Rock however stands as the only cat to this day to remix a cut that Premier originally did and blow it out the water with a superior beat. Die hard fan of both producers but PR’s beat here straight tramples and buries the one Preem did. 💯💯💯💯💯💯💯
@@williamcapone5457 Indeed!
Ironically, Q Tip did the same thing on "The World is Yours". (remix)
I agree!
Jamal - Fades Em All (Pete Rock Remix) is so fuckin dope 😮💨
No guns in the video, no disrespecting women. No talking about enemies or Opps. Just straight east coast hip hop. Jersey and BK stand up.
If you were a teenager when this was released you are very very lucky. This a generation that witnessed in real time the genius of Pete Rock, DJ Premier, Easy Moo Bee, Jay Dee, Trackmasters, RZA, Erik Sermon, the beatminerz, and DITC. These producers were behind literally all top rap songs between 1993 and 1997.
I'm 1 of those blessed ones.
I’d recommend the movie mid90’s. I got super nostalgic watching it. Took me back to the golden era of hip-hop skateboards & living it up as a teen.
Representin’ 93
Wasnt a teen but early 20s. Same rueles apply..
Qqo
This beat was atmospheric and outer worldly
Pete Rock is the first King of producing a remix that challenged the Original.
FACTs...
I think this beat is better than the original
Yes indeed!!
No doubt!
@@MaximusRGZ remixes back then had to be better than the OG
Pete Rock might be the all time King Of remixes.
Agreed🎯💯🎯💯
Pete Rock and J Dilla
This is meant to be played non stop in boxing gyms
No lies detected here...
Him, premiere, easy mo bee, madlib and jdilla are my favorite producers ever.
Pete rock clearly ate premier on this one......DAMN
No disrespect but he did tho .lol I bought the tape just for the remix
True story
💯
One of Pete Rock's best beats!!!!
this went from happy party song to god-level event. there's no other way to say it, Pete is a genius
I was just rocking this the other day...classic...bring back memories..95 was a good year
I was just listening to this like 2 weeks ago! Great minds...
@@ForPetesake552 real talk
Yo this entire album is still dope holding it down
@JMVEntertainment no doubt
This song has a pure hood boxing gym feel
Pete Rock Is One Of The Forefathers of Remixes in HipHop
The only version of this song that needs to be played none other
All comments regarding Pete Rock are totally ON POINT--PR also totally revitalized Public Enemy's "Shut 'Em Down" and (to a much lesser degree) House of Pain's "Jump Around". Premo DEFINITELY has the skillz (see DWYCK), but when it comes to the art of the remix, Pete Rock holds the belt.
I'm old enough to remember the last episode of YO MTV Raps and the cypher with Redman, Method Man, Chubb Rock, and Craig Mack rhyming to this beat
@Raymond Frand Yep! Rakim and KRS we're there too. They set it off, but they rhymed to 7 Minutes of Funk
I don't remember that (born in 88), but when I put this song on was like "I recognize that from somewhere", since right I'd seen a video of that last episode freestyle ✌️
Peep how Meth had a blunt in his hand thru his whole verse, thou!!! #ClassicTical
No love for MC Serch who killed the beat ?
@@RBeeMedia Yep! Serch kicked a verse too
To all the real G's who remember what Hip-hop is, I salut you
ONE OF THE BEST BEAT IN THE HISTORY OF HIP HOP
PETE ROCK IS NUMERO 1
GREETINGS FROM ITALY
This remix is a much better fit for the video, it really matches the grittiness
Man
Das Efx...sooooooo friggn underated in the hip hop game!!
This might just be the best Hiphop remix of all time🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Best version of this track.
Dam this just took me back to summer of 95! They played the hell out of this on the underground station with babito.... these days are gone 😔😔😔
I miss those days in the 90’s 😫
You knew it was Official when the Chocolate Boy Wonder blessed you with a remix… 🔥🔥🔥🙌🙌🙌☝️☝️☝️
I was outside when this Blessed my ears.
No gimics, no tricks, just real lyrics. No mumble rap. Straight Up Skills being represented and demonstrated. Real Hip Hop. Just 2 of the best MC's to ever hold the microphone 🎤 🧐🙏🏽
Thank you Pete Rock, Primo,EricB, Mr.c., DJ scratch. HAVOC , Scott la rock. And the great djs😂. Who represent the real hip hop. Many more. So many that represent the real hip hop.
Mad Props to Pete Rock
⛽🔥🎄🔥💨💨💨
One of the dopest beats ever
25 years flew by !
This is a rare occasion Pete topped primo
Jeru's "Can't Stop The Prophet" was another time. And then there's Gangstarr's "Militia" Remix he did. Not rare at all.
I wouldn't say rare. His beats on Rakim's album also dusted Premiers
Pete Rock is the Greatest
still hot for me, Pete Rock remix its a piece of art. Das EFX real oldschool. Damn, how old I am ;)
I miss you so much, Hip Hop.
It's still here my guy
this made me laugh out loud and then so, soo, sad.
Nothing like the 90s
True
No doubt....
I know '95 was the last year that every single album that came out was beastin'😎
What about Capone N Noreaga 1998, War Report still being a gem even been dropped at late 90's
🤔 96 was hard to deal with too...Redman Muddy waters Ghostface, Dayton Family, 2pac all eyez on me, coast to coast .. was hits!
Das Efx are one of the most talented rappers that ever lived.
Pete Rock did his thing on that beat tho 🔥🎶
Pete rock is always on point .
Love old-school love old style always art
Good music never sounds old. HIT SQUAD forever
I have to thank Dj Chuck Chill out for playing this lastnight on Wbls , had no idea who did this beat back in 94-95'. I remember when MC Lyte, Special Ed and a few others had to freestyle to this beat on Yo MTV Raps!!
Representing the real hip hop!!
One of the best. Lyrical geniuses
Best of The Best 👍👍👍
This is Real hip hop
Damn... Nostalgia... 😔😞👍🏾👊🏾✌🏾🇳🇬🇺🇸
REAL HIP HOP. That's it.
When you BANG this, BANG it until it can’t BANG no more!
What a tune....
My son is 7 years old now and I put him
On , real hip hop
Pete Rock came hard on the remix.
Forgot about this til I seen them on Unsung...gotta pull this back out...timeless!!!
🎉🎉🎉😮 DYNAMITE EXPLOSIVE TRACK ! DAS EFX & PETE ROCK = ICONS PIONNERS LEGENDS! SUPER FAN FROM MONTREAL CANADA
Who is still here in 2022? I remember I heard this beat for the first time when it was the last YO! MTV Raps episode...man I miss hip hop
this song is so cute listen to the beat and the chorus.
❤for my top 🔝 track history Hip Hop forever Legends das efx and Pete Rock the Best of the world love It
Honestly I prefer this version over the original. A lot more energetic. Though I wonder why every streaming platform with Hold It Down has this version (4:17) except for Apple Music which is the one that fades out. Thank you for uploading the music video in HD!!!
I love this version more than the original. Pete Rock prefected it
Not even close to the original
@@ghostshipone yup, 10x better
@@brmbkl nope. Why isn’t the remix ever played? Because the beat isn’t as good….
It's a tie! They both did their thing!
@@ghostshipone your crazy...the remix was stepping all over the original...respect but Pete rolled Premo on thus one..
Pure quality video👍 thank you!!!
Everybody was biting Das so bad they had to drop their iggity style. Maybe for the better cause they still had tight rhymes...
Yea I remember that everybody was biting the hell out of das efx.
Blame Jermaine Dupri for that . He took that element and created Kriss Kross .
2021 and this shit still bumps! About to roll me a Dutch and enjoy this time machine! #RealHipHop #Brooklyn #Bushwick #BedStuy #Brownsville
🔥🔥🔥HİP HOP🔥🔥🔥
Synth is from Gershon Kingsley - Rebirth

This remix went hard in North Miami Beach back in 1995.

This is way better than the ny drill music real east coast music pure lyrics and dope swag.
I was in my late 20's when they came out.

Pete Rock - half man half amazing. Fire!
When music was real
1995 i was only 25yrs old when I bought the DasExf CD at Circuit City store in Las Vegas Nevada as a rookie truck driver 🚛🚛🚛 in 1995 what a good 25yrs memory 👍👍👍💥💥💥💥
Years ago BET countdown used this beat as their into/outro
I was 9 years old when it came out. Watched this on BET

Solo pete rock puede hacer un remix a la altura del tema original o casi mejorarlo... suena🔝🔝🔝 real Hip Hop ohh shit 💯💯💯🔥🔥🔥95 classic
Das Efx was so underrated.
Got this on vinyl a while back, the album “4 Pete Sake”.
Back than when NYC was real
Old school of hard knocks
I miss old school NYC.
This is REAL HIP HOP 80s 90s!!!
With Primo being my all time favorite producer, I’m automatically going to be biased and say Primo’s is better, but got damn the remix is hittin! Hard! Not to take anything away from Pete Rock. Him and Primo are gods on the Hip Hop Mt. Olympus.
Sorry but Pete obliterated Primo with this one. Primo’s beat is too laid back, this Pete Rock remix is way more hype with those drums of doom, those sinister bells and arpeggiated synths, that mammoth bassline, and that ill ass MC Shan ”Hip Hop” sample bouncing between left and right ear. Unfuckwittable.
Pete Rock absolutely thermal detonated Preemo's version. It's not even close. Preemo's version sounds completely anemic in comparison. That's probably why the remix made the album.
I bought doubles when this was out
