    Jack and Jill went up the hill to fetch a pail of water, Guy went up to write a tune and wrote a Soundpaint scorcher! Chapeau Guy, DO NOT ever lose your love of quirky, creative and hugely entertaining exemplars of what composing is all about!

    Glad you like Soundpaint! I've been using it since it was released and have most of the libraries. They offer some wonderful sounds with instruments that we're used to e.g. bass guitar, Rhodes, 6 string guitar but also some one-off instruments manufactured by some bonkers people who create wonderful sounds with them. The best feature IMO is the morph function where you can morph 2 or more instruments in real time. As a basic example, morph a bass guitar with a Wurlitzer! Fantastic!

    Yesterday, I finally took the plunge and downloaded Soundpaint. Originally (Before downloading this) I thought "Oh another sound tool", but how I was terribly wrong! This engine is really cool and very interesting! After playing with it for about 1 day, I now understand how special this engine is. Soundpaint integrates and morphs so many things that our DAWs have in plugins but smartly integrates these tools and techniques into a nice neat interface to shape your sounds, plus so much more velocity! I really love this tool! It is now part of my "Bag of Tricks"! Maybe I can do something similar with a desert scene here in AZ. LOL.

    I always enjoy your fresh approach to entertainment! Nice one!! 😂 I might be biased because I produce free Kontakt tutorials, but I do have one question about Soundpaint: "little Add-Ons" for Soundpaint can Add Up to hundreds of quid for only a few instruments. Wouldn't Kontakt be a much better option in your opinion? It includes all the effects, modulation, filters etc, and 127 unique levels of velocity with AET filter. Plus you can use your very own samples (a feature that is supposed to come to Soundpaint by 2030). One could create some of the Soundpaint's instruments in an hour by dropping in homemade samples in Kontakt. Finally, for the price of 8 Soundpaint "add-ons", one could get the full version of Kontakt and enjoy so many free instruments. Or did you use Soundpaint for April fools? LOL

    • @ThinkSpaceEducation
      @ThinkSpaceEducation  2 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      I really like it. It is very different to everything else out there and the sound design possibilities are great. Every time I fire it up I do something I wouldnt have written otherwise and that's (usually) a good thing

      @@ThinkSpaceEducation Fair enough 👍🏼

    • @Soundpaintmusic

      So we (8Dio) have over 300 Kontakt Instruments, so we know a little bit about this +20 year old platform. We see them as two independent- and complimentary platforms. Soundpaint is a lot faster. I can load 300 instances (with instrument) in 10 seconds. The second thing that sets them apart is that Soundpaint (SP) renders samples in real-time using an entirely new audio format that took years to build. The end-result is that all dynamic instruments come with 127 real-time rendered velocity layers and that is unique to the platform. The DNA of the SP engine code is a bit like a vintage analog synth - there are always small movements in the sound to make it more alive and dozens of analog modeled effects. User Sample Import is actually going into BETA next week and it is a free tool - just like Soundpaint is a free engine. If you are curious about it - feel free to check our discord, which is where we test things with the community and openly discuss feature requests too.

    • @chromofonic
      @chromofonic 2 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      @@Soundpaintmusic Thank you for this clarification. Perhaps my previous comment was a bit too direct. I am aware that you(8Dio), the makers of Soundpaint, have over 300 Kontakt instruments (and an even longer number of KSP code). I am very much looking forward to the sample import feature in Soundpaint. I will have a look at your Discord.👍
      As for 127 real-time rendered velocity layers, I guess if one uses velocity to modulate a key tracked EQ in Kontakt, one would also get 127 real-time rendered velocity layers. It all depends on how one defines "newly rendered layers" (I.e if velocity layer 4 differs from velocity layer 5 in EQ or any other property, even by a small amount, it can be called "a newly rendered layer"). Additionally, Kontakt, through the AET filter, employs Fast Fourier Transformation (very precise EQ) to model 127 distinct layers of sound (in my mind that is also " real-time rendered velocity layers"). And since you (8Dio) have over 300 Kontakt instruments, I am sure you also know that small movements, like vintage analogue synthesizers, can be easily created in Kontakt in a few seconds with modulation.
      However, I have been enjoying Guy's videos for years and I am sorry if I turned his comment section into tech talk. I will stay quiet now. Peace! :)

    Very nice Guy, enjoyed that immensely. I must admit, with decade old Macbook pro finally giving up on me. I decided to go for an even more ultra portable set up. I bought an M1 iPad pro and have been seriously impressed with its power along what the range of plugins now available on iOS.
    Bought a few synths, a nice piano and also added a reverb but there's everything from Eventides blackhole and beyond.
    What did amaze me was also that all of the SWAM modelling orchestral instruments are now available on iPad with a tiny memory footprint.
    Technology truly allows us ultra powerful and portable options these days. 👍

    I love your energy and I love watching your process! I am a brand-spanking-new neophyte in the world of music creation using a DAW (Reaper), and I find that watching your videos is interesting and inspiring. I don't have a very deep background in music, but I do credit my experience taking piano for a year in high school in helping me know a bit about rhythm, chords, and music theory - this has helped me to create music. I love the creative possibilities that opening my DAW brings - sometimes I want to create cinematic pieces, and other times I want to create catchy trap-rhythm songs using some of the unique virtual instruments I have downloaded and also some sampled sounds of my cat meowing! The learning curve has been brutal (three months ago I had no idea how to use a DAW or even what a DAW was), but I feel I have learned a tremendous amount in that short time, and can't wait to learn more about composition, mixing, and mastering. Will I ever release an album or sell any of my music? Who knows? But at least I am having fun, I'm learning, and I can create music that I like. This is quickly becoming a hobby about which I am deeply passionate! Thank you for your entertaining and inspiring videos!

    The reverb made me think of a unique question. If you have a ambient part that does not really break for a tail. What one is best to make that constant ambient to sound back and open? I love Comet reverb I bought and Valhalla for a free , been just studying last year. No uploads, cause I don't do songs yet, just engineer like tests. Comet is sooooo underrated for a verb..

    • @BlueTransAm83
      @BlueTransAm83 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Kind of stinks cause I only get to do it based on another in my situation. And the others work days were 3 a week or more. Thus 2 12 hour music study. More so wing stuff and engineer from a 6 grand about. PC and DAW demo level. And 1 day off. If he was doing 4, Id be 3 a week 12 hours, and far more ahead. Im already miles ahead of my last piano cheap strings test. A tad pale. Did like a 2 hour jam (your slide chords technique) idea. Just thrown down fast. To see, ok how to go about it. Since then, im starting to understand mor brass EQ, which sections. How flutes can complement strings. Not writing, just interesting counters or layers they make to strings. Orchestra VST coast a tun though. So mostly mid ranged ones. Outside the piano and solo like old school violin etc. Never touched these instruments before. Just guitar base and drums and a 4 track not long ago. Now everything is changing.
