Breathtaking seeing stuff like this knowing I was alive then, but too small to appreciate what was around outside the world of my pram. I look at this kind of stuff endlessly and wish I was in a world where everywhere I'd go and regardless of transport method, i'd love it all.

Tremendous stuff. I assume the 40s will have worked through from Euston via Rugby and Leamington, while BNS was being rebuilt, and WCML electrification.

A video that takes me back to my teens where I used to train spot on the GWR line from Snow Hill to Wednesbury. I recall seeing the Class 40s that were being diverted due to the electrification work on the WCML. Your video also shows Western Enterprise which I first saw at Hill Top, West Bromwich. I was waiting for a GWR King and the Western arrived. They have been one of my favourite classes ever since. Thanks for sharing this video. Regards, John

I wish my Dad was still alive to see this - remember him talking a lot about the old Snow
Hill station near to where he worked for a while in the 50s and 60s.

I'm an old 'un, too, and I have fond memories of the transition from steam to diesel hydraulic traction on the western region. Great days, and sadly, all gone. The heritage railways are great, but don't possess quite the same excitement as the good old days - a bit clinical, and everything's so clean and tidy,
