Simply one of the most beautiful songs ever, sang by one of the finest English ladies. Although Sinatra holds the most famous version, Anne Shelton does give more feelings to this sad-beautiful song, especially for she is a lady, and the lyrics were indeed written by a widowed lady whose husband unfortunately has passed away😢. But I cannot restrain a smile in my countenance, for the beauty of this song does reach my heart!😃
do appreciate your stimulating words 🙂 song choice came from deckchairs and lazy summer days with grandparents playing vintage vinyl WWII tunes, of which they sometimes replay in a head when reminiscing about youth.... always loved the big band opening part to this tune & thought it was about parted sweethearts during wartime... sad to hear its based on tragedy 😢😢😢 if you get the chance bud, smile a little & dance till dawn... have a great weekend 🍺🍺🍺
